Database Error with Template Table when Installing

There is a bug in the product install system that can cause a database error when installing a new version of product, when you have previously had an older version installed. Generally (though not always) this is when you install or update a vb4 version of a product when you have previously had a 3.x version installed. The error will look like this example ;
The way to quickly get around this is to delete all the old -10 templates from your database (they are not needed, they are just old copies). The following MySQL query will do this ;
Please note that template is the table name and should be typed exactly as is unless you use any tablename prefix (e.g. vb3_template). Once you have done this, you can import the product as normal. This bug has been reported, but is currently unfixed, I believe it will be addressed in vB 4.0.4. |
