Been using this a while now and it is very good, however I have a problem.

Is there a way to delete photos posted by a user when that user is deleted from the forum? Or do I have to go in and manually delete them all?

installation went fine but problem is the chmod... i chmodded images folder but i still get the error "Bad Open - Cannot Open the images Directory for Writing"

permission also given to the spec. usergroup.

It works perfectly. If you look closely at the problems in this thread, all of them are user related errors; steps skipped during installation, a conflicting mod, incorrect settings, etc.

Not sure what I've done with this but I iuploaded te files ok I think but when I go to the .../photoplog/index.php it just tells me to login, not sure where to find photoplog on my webpage now, does anyone know what this is? it thinks i'm not logged in for some reason?

I recently had this installed & love it, very user/admin friendly. My webmistress installed a gallery button on my upper navbar, sometimes when I try to enter the gallery here, it sends me to the vB log in page. I apologise if this has been addressed before, but I did not see it in the posts. Thanks in advance, JPT.

UPDATE: After reading again, I found this post "All usergroups (even the admin group) begins with all photoplog permissions turned off. Go and edit it so you can access it" I have the setting correct as far as I can tell, the log in issue is not all the time, JPT.

Hi, this is a great mod. :up: I came on here to ask the same question as bunglehaze above. Is there a way of changing it so users can set up categories? or how is everyone else managing it, i was thinking about having a folder saying 'upload your pics here if they don't fit a category', then sorting them later and creating a category for them. How is everyone else doing it, at the moment I don't think users know they can upload pictures.

Iam having a few issues, installed on 3.7.1 and have them showing on forumhome, but its hit and miss if it shows on the homepage and when it does the random image is nearly always the same image and it only show 1 picture when i have a few uploaded.

Looks like you might have your photoplog folder in the wrong directory. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be in the /forum directory, it should be in the root. Of course it depends how you originally set up your forum directory.

That's because there is no directory called photoplog/forums.php. Not unless you have a forum installed in a directory on your server called photoplog, which I suspect is highly unlikely. :)

Other then doing a backup of your database, and upgrading Photoplog to the most current version, you needn't do anything. Upgrading vB itself doesn't do anything to exisiting Photoplog tables or files.

i have this error but only when i click on the UPLOAD or SEARCH link within the photoblog main link which would be the index.php. kinda of weird, and i used the script to make sure the path is right. Any ideas on what to do. im looking at the link and it shows:

I have a problem. I just moved my site form one server to another and after this the plugin was not showing the pictures. It works properly i can upload new pics, i can see the new pics, i can see the categories. The problem is that it doesn't display the thumbnails of the pics uploaded before moving the site, neither in the gallery nor in the view picture page.
If i type the url of the pic shown in view picture page, i can see the picture.

Pls help me fix this problem.

It would be easier to troubleshoot your problem if you linked us to your photoplog gallery.

You have to set the accepted MIME types in your Admin CP, and if you moved servers that often has an affect on your User Group settings, and in turn, file upload size permissions. You may have to reset them.

I've just installed PhotoPlog Lite v.2.0.7. It works well, except for one issue.

I have 2 categories set up, and within them, 2 subcategories each. I uploaded pictures into these categories and subcategories without problem, and can view them just fine.

However, Uploads and Last Upload column are not updating anymore as of today. They did for a while last night.

If this helps, I have 2 different template sets - one is the default vBulletin one, and the other is a customized set. The Photoplog templates in the vBulletin default set are untouched.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Weird. I can upload, the images show, can be clicked on, can be viewed when you click on the category that it's in....

But it doesn't show that files have been uploaded in the main categories section. It shows 0 files have been added and says info is not available....

I had the same problem after switching from lighttpd to apache. The fix was to make the images folder 777 again.

cd to the photo directory, then:

chmod -R 777 ./images

For some reason after the switch, it was set to 755.

Photoplog doesn't work that way. It's a separate page where you can have gallery categories separated there.

If you want to link to specific categories in Photoplog the way your suggesting, you can just create a subform and set if up as a link redirect to specific Photoplog categories.

Support is not making new versions all the time. Support is keeping up with the questions and issues that people have with your product. Making new versions has nothing to do with that.

Besides, if the product still works, has no vulnerabilities, then what are you supposed to add? If there's nothing to add or change, then a new version isn't necessary.

They are not shared with any vB feature. So if you uninstall it, the images are only salvagable through FTP.

For your first error, take a look at the second post of this thread. It means your path was improperly set in your config.php file. Not sure why you removed that comma but you may need to start over with a fresh config file

This was created before the Albums feature was. This allows users to put images in a categorized Gallery, rather then a personalized photo album. Think of the difference between an actual gallery and an actuall photo album. That would essentially be the same difference.

Categories are created in Photoplog, on the photoplog index page. They are not part of your forum home page. They are not the same as forum categories.

I was equally as confused. But if you go to http://yourdomainname.com/photoblog (or wherever you put the photoblog folder) you'll see it there (if you change the usergroup permissions). Even the admin group is set not to be able to see/do anything at first. But if you edit the permissions & go to that URL you should see something.

If you still don't you might want to try adding categories.

Otherwise you do have to add the link to your navbar yourself. I actually created a board that redirects to it (for web graphic designers & that's what the gallery is for).

Also did you go all the way to the bottom of the page for the extra notes? I just did this following the directions & I can see random thumbs on the forum home-page like we're supposed to: http://www.dawnswebdesigns.com/forum/index.php. Plus if you look at a post you'll see under the arcade scroll the link for gallery & that I've added 2 images so far.


Which was why I came in here. THANK YOU so much for making this. I've been looking for a gallery mod forever. It's working pretty good so far. TY TY TY TY. :D

Somewhere either at the top of this thread or perhaps some of the first couple of posts you have the code to add this link to the navbar. It don't tell you where to put it. I tried posting that code in a few places...first of all it adds 2 links side by side. Plus it goes above all the rest of the links. I could chop up some code around it & get it added but I decided to have a board redirect to the URL instead. But others might want it added. If you could get the correct code plus note in the instructions people must add the link to the navbar manually I think this mod would be as close to perfect as a mod could get. I think for the first time I'm gonna vote for a mod of the month & it's gonna be this one. :p

i am able to make changes.
seems my XML loaded to all styles.

Copy and paste the script into whatever HTML editor you use and save it as a PHP file. Upload it to your forum root and then navigate to the file in your browser window. It will then return the correct path to your forum.

I have installed photoplog and I simply love it. However there is 1 tiny bit of help that I need and that is changing teh <title> tag of the gallery/photoplog homepage page. I tried registering an account on photoplog.com but they always gave me a "Image verification unsuccessful due to incorrect reCAPTCHA™ parameters. Contact the admin." error.

PhotoPlog is a phrase. To change yours, in your admincp, Click Languages & Phrases, Search in Phrases. Search for PhotoPlog. You will find what you are looking for.

Ok I have a question. I am assuming the latest release is compatible with VB 3.8. In assuming that I decided to go ahead and add the MOD to my board. All usergroups (even the admin group) begins with all photoplog permissions turned off. Go and edit it so you can access it.
I have set all my usergroups to view access. As an admin, I have full access. Yet I am having this exact problem too.

I checked on Morgan's site (www.photoplog.com) and it looks like there is an option for multiple picture uploading in the pro/paid version. I'll be upgrading in the near future as there are a couple of other upgrades that seem like they would add some nice touches to the gallery :D

To fix the notices not working/showing, simply go to admincp >> photoplog >> modify settings and then look for the "global variables" section and type in "notices" (without the quotation marks, of course) and save. That should allow the notices to show :up:

WxP, you have to go to the usergroups individually and change the size of the file upload permissions. Or, make sure that the files are .jpg or .gif

This does not work for me. When I try to upload, or search, or go to photoblog/index.php, it tells me I'm not logged in, and tells me to login. If I try logging in, it does nothing, just refreshes the login page. How do I fix this?

I tried into my TEST forums and none of links works the gallery shows up but the UPLOAD link doesnt work, CATEGORIES shows up but as soon as you click on them it just shows an error...

So if this hack doesnt work why is still over here and not moved down to the graveyard?

Also another thing since i was one of their customers when you purchase a licence from them make sure you got enough money to upgrade it each year as if something happends to your host or your gallery will be broken for some reason you will need to renew your licence in order to be allowed again to download any files even though you have paid once and you should be allowed to download the oldest versions of the PHOTOPLOG like you do with VBULLETIN when your licence expires... thats the reason why i thought to dowload the light version but it seems like even this one doesnt work or its not managed by their staff.

I have everything uploaded, the forums path is correct, and all settings exactly how they are. When i point my browser to my photoplog directly i get this:

It still shows me logged in, but it's asking me to sign in at the same time. Also, it says 'error' at the top. I'm not sure what's going on here. Any ideas?

It appears that the main man for photoplog has not posted on his forum since December, so probably not much more going on with it.

I have photoplog pro running on vb 4.x.x and now appear to have a problem with the index page formatting since upgrade to vb 4.1.2 see here (http://www.thamesvalleybirds.co.uk/photoplog/index.phphttp://), but to ask the question on the photplog pro troubleshooting forum I would need to pay another $35 for a year's support and I'm not prepared to do that if he is no longer active.

/vbulletin_textedit.js file is missing from the images folder in /photoplog/images, cannot find it, updated forum as well but can't find this file and when I click an image when posting it just enlarges the photo and doesn't add the BB code in the post.

Albums are designed to feature favorite photos/pics of a given users. PhotoPlog is a Gallery, where you categorize images by type. My site uses both, where users use the albums like they would a Facebook album, while the Gallery is for showing off artwork. Some sites user the gallery differently, but fundamentally, that's the purpose.
