vBulletin 3.5.2 fixes 2 XSS (cross site scripting) issues, of which one is very serious. It is advised to upgrade immediately, or at least apply the patch.

Nope, that's the beauty of products! I thought 3.5.2 was at least a week or two away, you guys are fast. Now I have to upgrade all my client's boards. Sigh. :D

It depends on the Plugins, but generally speaking: No.
You might have to redo template edits though

Blinking heck, here we go again.

And why do they have to release updates when my net connection is being tempramental at best?

Andreas

You shouldn't receive any errors. I got like 280 Plugins (sigh!) installed, no problem so far.

I had no problems with the upgrade at all, but I am having problems with the Skype support. It seems like no matter what I click on in the Skype pop-up; Add to Skype Contact List, View Skype Profile, Leave Voicemail or anything else, it simply starts up a phone call with the Skype target user.

Anyone else having the same problem?

But it should be interesting to see what happens going from RC 3 to this, huh? ;)

If i install 3.5.1 templates on Vb 3.5.2 the template wont display the skype icon? Is that how it will be?

06 Dec 2005, 19:30
Yes, unless the style is recoded for 3.5.2 then it won't show and you will have to code that in yourself.

I had to go in and modify my postbit_legacy template to display the $post[skypeicon] bit manually as I use a custom template. You will probably need to do the same.

Ok thanks but is that is the only change that i have to make if i install 3.5.0 skins? Or are there any other changes to be made?

Is there some guide like the Best way to upgrade when there are preinstalled hacks? It would be great if there is one

Just upgraded one forum to 3.5.2, so far it looks good and everything went smoothly. The template changes are the most tedious part for anyone with a custom skin...

True.. My board is not yet online (bought vbulletin 2 weeks ago) i was all set to go with my 3.5.1 when 3.5.2 came.. Now i am struggling a bit and confused too..

what do i do? loads of hacks like arcade, vbjokes etc installed! Are they compatible with 3.5.2? Should i start all over again by installing a clean version and install the hacks again? :tired:

alright kool.
are vB versions gonna continue coming or is there ever gonna be a final version (3.5.0?)

peterska2
06 Dec 2005, 21:12
the won't ever be a final version as new ones are released when there is something that needs fixing or something new comes out that they want to add support for (like skype)

This depends on the plug-in, but most should work with 3.5.2. If one is giving you a problem you can disable it via the admincp until a fix is provided.

As for template changes, you'll have to insert the new changes yourself. Or you can revert the customized templates and re-apply the changes you made before 3.5.2 came out.

Upgraded all my sites with zero problems. :-)

The only plugin I can think of off the top of my head that wouldn't work anymore would be the one that was released to make AdminCP yes/no radio buttons side by side instead of vertical, since they are now side by side again in 3.5.2, which I think was a good choice. It looks way better that way and is easier to see at a glance whether something is yes or no.

The template changes were simple. There is a thread on vb.com that shows what the edits are.

Getnew/getdaily now return threads in forums with "Can View Thread Content" set to no
These thread titles will now appear when clicking "New Posts" or getting posts in the last 24 hours.

or is that supposed to be

"Getnew/getdaily will now not return threads in forums with "Can View Thread Content" set to no
These thread titles will now NOT appear when clicking "New Posts" or getting posts in the last 24 hours."

I understand what its suppsed to do...just got confused the way that was written.

Get New/Get Daily now also lists Threads for Forums where "Can View Thread Content" is set to No (eg. you can only view Thread Titles)

I have a vbulletin 3.5.0 template.. I want to update it to 3.5.2 how do i do it?

Do i need to visit this page http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=161721 get the template changes from 3.5.0 to 3.5.1 done and then again apply the template changes from 3.5.1 to 3.5.2?

I tried that way when i update the FORUMDISPLAY template (3.5.0 to 3.5.1) i get this error

The following error occurred when attempting to evaluate this template:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected ';' in /home/ashokfor/public_html/forum/includes/adminfunctions_template.php(3537) : eval()'d code on line 458

This is likely caused by a malformed conditional statement. It is highly recommended that you fix this error before continuing, but you may continue as-is if you wish.

What is the problem?

Yes or No?
I would say no........The upgrade is very simple and it ask's you in the installer, if it's an upgrade, that way it save's your past info.......I upgraded from 3.05 to 3.5.2 and it was easier then i anticipated......doug

Guys please use the latest release thread to discuss the new releases: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=104448

If you have a question post it in the proper forum.

@vietkieu_cz: If you are using the file patch then simply upload the new .php files. If you are using the plug-in method then install the plug-in via the admincp.

You should not have to disable your current plug-ins/products to do the upgrade. Some may break but most will not.
