What Does It Do? it enables your members to apply to be a mod, cuts down on all the asking and stuff

What about the cool back end? ooh yeah, so anyway it will email on the 14th day to either let em know they've been shortlisted or to try again at a later date

How will it know? mod ratings innit, if their under 7 their outta there

Anything else? nah i guess it starts a thread in your mod forum to tell your mods to rate em

How does it know what forum and who's the threadster? you tell em via the admincp options (where the rest of the vboptions are) theirs a handy little group for the MAF and i don't mean 2+2

Ok so that's gotta be it now? nope

What else does it do? it logs it all in the admincp schedules tasks and sends you a copy of the email

Damn who taught you all that? various folks, special thanks to Dean, Marco, OBK and Zero Tolerance who helped me on this specific hack though.

Ok so what's the install like? swift the long thing is the upload

Ok rumour is it needs to run a cron, what's a cron? :squint: it's the automated do-dad in the admincp

How do i set it up? it's so straight forward you could close your eyes and do it, the file you're cronning is called "mas-cron.php" and i recommend running it at 12.30 (that means leave the rest as stars)

After you rate the application

when it tells you it cant find phrases for hacks, just like the one your seeing it usually still works, so just ignore it.

if it's one style only and that's a child style then it's a template mod gone horribly wrong.

in all honesty i was gonna do the recoding i.e. using the API for the thread creation but i just couldn't be bothered it's been a long day, if you check the product it's called MAS and that was my intention to record, and add features like making questions customizable but then my day got shit and i just couldn't be bothered.

when do the messages get posted in the designated forum for the ratings? I applied using another account, to become moderator. I then logged out, logged back in as admin, rated the application in the admincp and check the designated forum, and it had NO post in it.

I want to set the schedule task to be performed every day but cannot do this due to...

When any 1 mod has read the application, and the task looks again for more applications it still picks up the one where its already posted a thread about and will keep doing this untill the application has been deleted...

Is there away around this so that as soon as it read by 1 person then it will not be attached as another thread??

Yes Bashy I have also noticed the same thing. Its a lovely addition though. If this could be fixed it would be great ! anyhow. just installed it yesterday. and have tested it to only find only two little things wrong :)

to answer your question, theirs no need to run the installer if you had a previous installation as all the tables that are required already exist.

ok, my advice to you would be;
uninstall the plugin
backup your forums
then run this query before installing again.

I finally figured out what my problem was concerning the loss of my ACP Nav links...It seems that when i read the install text, i didnt follow one part of a step...Lemme explain, The install text says,

The cron job is set weekly i think...
You can go into your scheduled tasks and run the MAF manually or set it lower....

Then the application will show up on the thread that you set, well actually it
will only tell you that there is one and you have to goto your admicp or modcp to read it.

Its right at the bottom of ya admincp

You did not specify in your install instructions where to upload the maf_cron.php, but obviously it must be placed in the folder

I overlooked it first time as i was strictly following your install notes and did not upload maf_cron.php into the cron directory. I have uploaded it since that post so no biggie...You may want to edit your install txt and add mention of that file as well because it can be somewhat confusing for some peeps. Its ok to have blonde moments, we all have them, for me is quite often hehehe

I have this problem as well, and i did replace everything it said to replace. Totally destroyed the admincp - So i skiped this step..


I access the apps thru typing out the links instead for now.

Also missing a phras maf_rated, and maf_deleted. Not sure what else.

I just browsed all the 10 pages and the author seems to ignore this, a complete hack is one which does have any errors, but I did search for the phrase in the vb admincp, it does exist but I or we are not sure why it says it does not ?

i had this installed on vb3.0.7. i removed it from the db when i upgraded. i followed all the intructions and i run the installer and it goes through creates the db files and says done, and then modify the files. yet when i go to upload the product-modappsys.xml it just gives me an error:

If a member gets below 7 after 2 weeks, then they get emailed/pmed and told they are not accepted? (is it only email or is it both pm and email, and is that question true)

What happens if they are above 7 after 2 weeks? what happens then?


Also if i want to change some of the application to suit my board, what do i edit? are they phrases? And what happens if i want to add another question and box for them to write in, how do i do that?

Any chance of being able to have a drop down list for what you want to apply for [pre-defined], somewhere up the top of the form?. Obviously without the Moderator application heading because they won't be what they are applying for...

I know this is probably a big ask, but if anyone can write the code to allow for the drop down box and post it here and where to put it, i'd really application it...

- the field for "Timezone" is unneeded I think. The user will set his time zone in usercp and this is not needed for application. If this feature is wanted for some reason make it enable in Acp with a checkbox and then fill it automaticly like $username and eMail

- the whole hack should be the application form for ALL STAFF POSITIONS,
therefore the field "position" should be a scrolldown menu, options should be added and editable via acp.

- an additional field "knowledge" should be added where applicants have to tell something about their skills and knowledge, that should qualify them for desired position.

- the title of hack should be changed to STAFF APPLICATION SYSTEM so it can be used for ANY staff position that is selectable in position field.

I tried to change the templates in this way but there were errors when submitting the form so this have to be included in the scripts for making them working.

Idealy I just want a system where when it person applys, it posts the form in the admin section, or even sends it to my email for me to look over...

I think this could be an option. It's always good to know that applicants were accepted by other mods. In many cases mods have to rate the applications too because they're forum- or group leaders and have to select their assistant mods. So this feature should be an selectable option for those boards who needs it.

My server is
dead atm but if you go to your admincp and on the menu go to Scheduled tasks there is a option in there to run the application form ;)

Once you have clicked that it will place the new thread in the forum you wanted.

Also your mods can go to the modcp and see the option at the bottom of their menu "Rate Application" same as in the admincp :)

erm, i'd say notepad is the best bet. however if you have cuteftp the built in editor could do the job too.

There are some more typos on MODAPP and it is really looking unprofessional with Sentences That Always Have Each Word Starting With Capital. I changed all this but I won't be writing it all down here. Not only did this shock me a little bit, but the worse is the guy who made this did a good job on porting the mod, but that it's taking him almost A YEAR (took me 10 seconds for both the boxes), to make the nickname and email box READONLY (this is really crucial, people could just go and abuse this if they want) is the most shocking. (This mod has over 150+ installs, and imagine not everyone clicks the install button (downloaded over 770+ times, I think it's worth to put a little bit effort in this mod, even on these small but crucial things)

goto admincp and open file delapp.php

to very bottom replace the line

and replace the phrase he has there with this

as for the rating phrase i worked at it couldnt get it to work

wow a lot of +++++ing in this thread, as for how long it's taking me to post to 3.6.x i can only apologise, however given the fact that 3.6 Gold isn't out yet it's not like it's gonna happen before then.

As for the various missing phrases, get over it, it's a few control panel stop messages, not the biggest nessessity in the world.

Spelling mistakes, yeah i'm a f'up for them.

Bug to do with only one person being able to rate mods, i can't claim to have seen that. however in a bid to make sure that this doesn't happen again (problems that i ain't experiencing) i'm not going to release the 3.6 (plus bugfixed) version until it's running on my site. The port i made to 3.5 was more for the people here than myself (as i've never used it).

And please leave comments like professionalism out unless you're padding out my pockets, this project was firmly in the hobby/learning experience basket.

Sorted the issue with admincp now...
All the filenames are different now, there all/most are now mas and not maf lol

Also what about the tables in the db, mas and maf?
Can i just delete the maf 1's as it looks like its using the mas 1's now?
