The vBB is really awsome the way it is but in UBB6 they have a pretty nice rating hack where you can rate members. I'm pretty sure it would be a popular hack if anyone made it.

Search for "Karma" on these forums, wluke (sitepointforums.com) is working on a karma hack, this is 50x's better then any member rating hack... I personaly would hate to have my members rate each other, as in the long run, i think it would split the community, not bring it together.

Well I agree with him.

I actually do this currently from Polls. The online gaming community is full of people that just like to piss each other off, or those that just get very vocal. I allow people to nominate each other for the bi-weekly award of most helpful and respectable user, it gives some of the incentive needed to control their attitudes. I use a sticky poll, works well, a karma type system would be cool though.

It is called "Member Rewards" now and has quite a few options. I am finishing it up and will most likely test and fine tune it at SitePoint before release.

It should be out shortly but I can't commit to a date. Best thing about it is that you won't have to edit any files. :)

Heh heh. Want to increase the traffic on your board? Let your members rate each other. You'll have LOTS of messages in your forum. Flame wars!!

Member Rewards. :) Cool name. Sounds like the winner gets a free upgrade on their next flite.

i sure as hell would not like to be rated in the forum i take part in, that would drive me away instantlly, a feature such as the 1 your talking about, but thats just my opinion...

Most rating systems have the option to disable it for yourself. :)

disabling others to be able to even vote for you aswell? or disabling seeing your initial score, because i wouldnt even like the fact people could vote on how well i preform/how good of a member i am or how liked/hated...
