View Full Version : How many users registered today

ericgtr
20 Dec 2005, 18:12
Update: Thanks to Boofo, this has been revised and now updates each day at midnight, according to the user time. It also won't show up unless a member has registered within that time period. In order to update you must uninstall the current version and then install this one. Also please re-do the template edit

This is another update from my previous hack for 3.0.x. This adds a count of how many users registered today, displayed in the Statistics section of the forumhome template. See screenshot.

Note: This has been tested and works from 3.5.x through 3.6 RC1

Instructions are easy (and attached), simply import the product-regedtoday.xml and add the template edit. Please click install if you like it :)

How are you getting this number? Its saying 13 new yet, when I click the admincp new reg link it only shows me 8 for todays date.

ericgtr
21 Dec 2005, 02:31
It could be that the admin panel is showing since midnight and not the last 24 hours. What you see is who's registered since 24 hours ago.

WNxWakko
21 Dec 2005, 02:35
There is no registered since 24 hours ago. This is all there is in the admincp,

List Visitors in the Last 24 Hours
List New Registrations

It's only been tested on 3.5.1 and 3.5.2. You are importing it as a Product, right?

Something is not right. The number of new members recently changed by 1 but the name of the last new member did not change. How come?

Bob

Then the wording in the XML needs to be 'Registered in last 24hrs' and not 'Registered Today' ?

Caching, the newest user is pulled from cache and isn't updated in real time as to where this mod pulls the query immediately. I can't remember what the default cache time for the newest member is but it's probably under an hour.

'Registered Today' appears three times in the XML, which/how many of them need to be changed please?

Thanks

ericgtr
29 Dec 2005, 17:06
There is really only one instance of it in use the // // Registered Today are just labels :) The easiest way would be to search your phrases for 'Registered Today' (no quotes) and then edit it to say what you want.

and it seems to be working fine. However, how do I get it to say "Registered Users in Past 24 Hours" instead of "Registered Today" since the first seems to be more accurate?

I searched for "Registered Today" in 3.5.3 and found no place to change it.

Thanks in advance

(I thought I posted this earlier, but I guess it didn't go through)

Edit the 'r_today' phrase.

I'm not very knowledgeable about this.

what r today phrase? I found it in the forumhome style but there is no "Registered Today" phrase to change anywhere.

I've searched all the styles, nothing.

I've searched for 'Registered_today'; 'Registered Today'; 'today'; etc. I can't find it anywhere.

I have 3.5.3 and added the hack and I just can't change it. Really need help.

AdminCP -> Languages and Phrases -> Phrase Manager. The template edit makes you add "$vbphrase[r_today]", which is the "r_today" phrase. ;)

You can either navigate to the phrase manually, or just search in phrases for Registered Today and it should come right up.

I didn't know you could do a phrase search like that in that location of the acp. It now works.... thanks a bunch.
