What does this do?
After importing this product you will have additional options in the Administrator Control Panel below the 'Fake Community Statistics Options' section. This plugin gives you the ability to cheat the stats on forumhome (and a few other locations) by increasing the real value with a false value. The goal of this plugin is to helps new communities boost their activity by pretending they are bigger and more active; provoking visitors to register and participate to generate real activity (after which the admin can stop using this plugin)

Example:

Total registered members: 5
Added amount: 100
Forumhome now shows instead of 5:
Total registered members: 105

Of course, if a new member registers it will be 106.

Yes .. but the product import will take care of these, no worries.

Does this come with templates or require me to modify my templates?
No, no new templates are required. Original values are overwritten.

Yes, two template modifications are required if you wish to show 'x members chosen not to be displayed' on memberlist.php and add fake online users to the online users list. (see install instructions below)

Does this create additional queries?
Nope, this will not overload your server, and no sql queries are run.

Does this run on vBulletin 2.x or 3.0.x?
No.

Does this run on vBulletin 3.5.0 - 3.5.1, 3.5.2, 3.5.3 and 3.5.4?

Yes. I recommend to use 3.6.11.

Installation instructions:
Admin Control Panel > Plugin System > Manage Products > Import > browse to the file and select the xml from your hard drive, click import and you're done. Default values are 0 for most options, you can change these at any time.

There was a slight bug in this on mine when I had it on 3.5. When a new user registered, they showed as online all the time along with my fake users. When I clicked on whose online, obviously they weren't showing.

Would that prevent them from logging in?

yeah, it's just the xml build in vb3.6 adds info which causes sql errors on 3.5.x

ok, BIG ERROR, Either a) i did somethng wrong or b) bad things are happening:
The max users online is updating to the timenow whenever you load the page. So it says Currently Active Users: 78 (34 members and 44 guests) and then it says on the same page at the 9:55am Most users ever online was 547, Today at 09:55 AM. Any way to stop it from doing this?

after installation and modification of templates i went to Plugin & Products -> Product Manager and edited Fake Community Statistics.. this must show me second screenshot of this product.. but all i see Edit product Dependancy.. etc.. can any one tell me how to setup its options.. and also its showing me UserA, UserC and UserB.. that means plugin is working.. but i am doing something wrong

Is it only for registered useres? For Example there are 100 registered useres and I fake the stats and it shows 200.
Or can I also fake the users who are online> for exapmle the are 15 users online and it shows that thera are 40?

I don't want to cheat on amount of users online or most online. Those numbers are fine. I just want to "fake" the total amount of reg'd users because we deleted a bunch of inactive ones to trim the db and now the "fake" number reflects the amount before the purge.

Here's a good suggestion, why don't you explode() the $activeusers variable into the array then asort() the array to make it alphabetical then str_replace() the user who is logged in to get rid of it. Then add it to the start and implode() back to how it was. The end effect of that means the fake users will be spread out alphabetically and won't be in a big lump at the beginning as well as the user who is viewing the forum will be at the beginning as it would be before this mod is installed.

This appears to be essentially a 3.5 hack that doesn't work as advertised on 3.6

Logged in Users - DOES NOT WORK in 3.6
Logged in Users CSS - DOES NOT WORK in 3.6
List Newest Member - DOES NOT WORK in 3.6
Date & Time Switch - DOES NOT WORK in 3.6

And it breaks "Most users ever online" stat.

The hack does tell you this, but only after you install it. The snapshots above could (and should) reflect these limits, but they are taken from the 3.5 hack.

I have added usernames to the field Logged in Users List

The user names show up but the Currently Active Users: is not showing that there are 6 people logged in, instead it says 1 member logged.


Can some one advise please as I would like to use this hack.

The reason is, when you have more then 1000 users online, it will be 1,000
when you calculate it, it will be 1+x+y , instead of 1000+x+y. This fix removes the , and the . from the variable before calculating it.

The only few questions I have are:
1. Can the members in WOL be changed? Say there are 0 online and you add 30, can you make it jump around so it doesn't look too dodgy?
2. What if people question about the members? Some members might want to do the same and remain hidden.

The history clearly shows there is no new feature added since previous version. And that does mean it still can't do what you want on a per forum basis. It clearly says: ONE forumid.
Is there some technical limitation that prevents this from being done?

3 things:-

1) When put names in the 'Logged in Users List' field in the AdminCP, their names appear on the the board as they should ,but,

the 'Currently Active Members Online' section doesn't show them as being online. That still shows how many are REALLY online and doesn't add the fake users to the total number.

Is this normal?

2)Also all the fake guests appear to be on 'index.php', is there a way of making them appear in a forum?


3) Finally where members names are listed online, there has appeared a comma before the first name, this is on all skins and wasn't there before.

Best RegardsI don't think you're going to be able to pull that one off. Besides, they will all have the same IP address. Really, it's best to just grow your board normally. Anyone who is serious about participating on your board might be very put-off when they go to find your imaginary posts and see that it's all a lie. A savvy forum user can spot this in a heartbeat. If you *really* want to inflate your post count and make it look somewhat more legit just install the NNTP Gateway hack and import about 200,000 USENET posts into various forums of your choice and be done with it. Of course they will be, obviously, fake too but at least they were posted by real people. Then just use this hack to make you a few fake users with some of the same names you find in the USENET posts. Still, you'll get caught in the lie eventually but at least make em work for it.

In truth, you're better to just grow your board naturally. There are just too many ways to get caught (i.e. an alexa rating of 7 million+ on a board with 200,000 posts is one).

This hack is insulting to your users' intelligence and assumes they are all total idiots. I'm pretty sure Floris, himself, would agree.

this is crap.. this new update makes me look horrible
had .10 running and, yes many of the features didnt work in 3.6, which was fine cause it tells you before you install it.
so i only used it to show more total members, now when i updated it by simply overwriting the old oneeverything now seems to work and looks good

I have this on a 3.6.7 PL1 board with no issues..... The Mod does not state that it's made to work with other versions... As this Modification is unsupported it's unsure how it will work in 3.6.8+... use at your own risk.

I am not a computer wizard by any stretch. I managed to install the plug in and edit the code (thanks for making it *me* proof) however I have noticed under what's going on that it displays members: 2 and then the active members does not include the number introduced in the fake stats. The number of members should include the fake stats and the actual stats however it does not seem to display this in the active member numbers

I am using this now on http://wetalk.tv/ and works fine on 3.6.8 without any problems. It gives the impression it is not a dead forum, and that is appealing to new visitors. And once the site gets going the % of fake stats goes down to be replaced with real activity.

When i click on the attachment, it shows as an .efw file and will not let me open or save. I've never had this problem before. I see nothing, no xml, nothing.

No, I didn't code that feature because it causes more server load to calculate and then to randomly dstribute them out. You can, however, dump them all into a forum where you are hiding who's browsing etc. using custom conditional variables. Additionally, if you're going to cheat, cheat reasonable, 5000 is to show how ridiculous it could do, but it is very easily to be found out. What is reasonable? Use common sense ;)

There is 2 mistakes on this

1. If i dont put any names in, it lists a comma in front of all my users like ,

2. If i put 2 peoples names in as active, if you click VIEW WHOS ONLINE the names dont appear there meaning if there are

4 real members online and my 2 fake ones you click view whos online and it says

4 members it doesnt say 6 members and it only lists the 4 members names

Something isnt working right people are going to figure that one out go quickly!

To answer a few questions that came up:
1) I didn't do the fake names thing, so I'm not 100% sure on the code. Though, I don't think it'd be an major issue to correct. I vaguely recall doing some hacking on this hack to get rid of the extra coma I had on one of my test forums, so I'll try to look into that extra coma thing tomorrow if and when I have time...

2) Re: not adding up; invisible users already causes problem adding up. I posted this bug report a while back, and it was marked as working per designed: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=12482

As such, no fix will be provided to change the numbers on WOL page, and no names will be added to it. They are, for all anyone can care, invisible users.

3) This is just altering displayed number; it shouldn't get you banned from Google. If it does, Google is most likely on drugs or a power trip. Typically, from my understanding, Google bans people for making contents to attempt to inflate their search engine ranking / page ranking; not for displaying fake numbers... But, if you feel unsafe, don't use it. I just wrote part of the code for it, I'm not going to be responsible for what Google does on their part.

I did do test with Beta 2 and it worked, I see no reason why this would not work for RC2 as that section of the templates and variables haven't been modified as far as I'm aware of.
