Guests Not see links in Post
Guests Not see links in Archive
Guests Not see links in Print Version
Guests Not see links in Reply

Description:
Most guests browse the forums without becoming registered. And why should they, everything´s lying and waiting just right before their fingertips - written informations and the most important: hyperlinks.
This plugin hides link from guests until they became registered !

If guests are browsing the forums, all they´ll see is a link like this

[Only Registered Users Can See Links.Click Here to Register] (http://www.vbulletin.org/register.php)

Step 1. Import the following product:hide_link_from_guests_v1_0.xml
Step 2. ENJOY THE HACK

Yes!

That's what i really needed. In order to enable a high page rank you must not have many links spidered by google.

So that's it!

Your links are like votes given to other sites. So, if you use them too much your pagerank may decline. I learned this info when i tried to learn about PR.

Yes, You're right: some sites with high page rank they have links every where. Yet, they are big sites, getting many links ;) Maybe, if they hadn't give links, their pagerank would be higher now.

For example, seochat.com & daniweb.com which are related to seo & pagerank don't use automaticly parse urls to [ url ] code. Thus they don't give external, clikable links ;)

Hello, when a member replies in a thread that has links, in Topic Review (Newest First) part, the links are not shown, but instead there is [Only Registered Users Can See Links.Click Here to Register]] in every link!
Why is that happening? Thanks! :)

1. It shows still the Links on vbAdvanced and any other Portal !

2. And yes it is ignoring Signatures.

Hi

For 3.6. compatibility:

Open file hide_link_from_guests_v1_0.xml
Search for <phrasetype name="global">
Replace with <phrasetype name="GLOBAL" fieldname="global">

Guests Not see links in Reply

If guests "Can Reply to Others' Threads" they can use the quote button instead the reply button and the links are visible for guests. :(

We need to disable the quote button for guests, how (hack, plugin?)?

Regards, Stoebi

Great Hack - but I would be really happy about a Search Bot detection, so that links are visible to google etc. This Hack is good for Guests to hide Links, but bad for Search Engines, because no/less Links visible = Lower Page Rank!

Exelent little hack, much better than sticking nofollow on your links.

For some reason this hack is also blocking the view of my registered users, in particular an extra group I created (mod / staff group). Any ideas? Cheers :)

I just installed it and had the same exact issue. Reading above it seems to be a common issue thats not been addressed. I uninstalled it and everything went back to normal. Luckily this is a very slow time for posting.

Same issue here too. Installed it and newreply.php won't work (advanced reply, quote)

Any way to fix that?

When I hit advanced reply I get the following error message

Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in C:\Inetpub\vhosts\eveek.com\httpdocs\forum\newreply.php(969) : eval()'d code on line 35

ALSO

I've got another plug in on the forum that converts the site to WAP so if my users access the site from a mobile device, it displays everything in simplified version. The problem is, even if you're signed in, the message still there and the download links are not visible.

Can you fix that please?
Other than that, awesome hack!!!!

Does this hack work with post caching at all? Or does it turn it off?

I remember installing a hide links from guests hack a while ago and it slowed down the board a lot - so I uninstalled it, not sure if it was this one though :-/
