*********************************************
BBcode Manager-Version 1.32-
Works vB 3.6 -vB 3.5 (special xml file inside zip) *********************************************
By Cédric Claerhout and Calorie (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/member.php?u=35245)
-Description-
This modification allows you to have new looks for quote, code, phg and html bbcodes. The installation is automatic ; the setup is very easy.
-Features-
Five news looks for bbcodes in order to enhance your messages : Light bbcode set ; Dark bbcode set ; Pastel bbcode set ; Simple bbcode set and Simple bbcode with transparency b/g. Configure this sets according to your styles. If you forget or don't want to specify a set for a style, it will use the defaut vB display.
GIF or PNG formats available for pictures. Autodetect IE 6 function to use gif extension for this browser. In order to work efficiently the Cached Posts Lifespan must be set to 0 in vB options
This hack works with vBa CMPS : it uses special templates to avoid to break the front page. The detection is automatic (since 1.31 version).
You can configure : the left margin of bbcode, the color and the size of text.
You can set a link to quoted user profile. It creates a clickable link between the person's username being quoted and her profile.
Mono or double bubbles for simple quote bbcode | special behaviour for quotes of light, dark and pastel sets.-Installation-
Upload "bbcodemanager" pictures directory in vBulletin images directory : /forums/images/
Import the product xml file
Configure the mod in vBulletin options -> "BBcode templates manager"-Updates--19/08/2006 : version 1.32 released. New option available : integration of Advanced Syntax Highlighting (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93071) is now possible. Please note that "Code Block Width" must be in pixels (see "important" paragraphe)
-15/08/2006 : version 1.31 released. New vba procedure detection ; it's automatic now. Errors in vBa bbcode templates have been corrected. To upgrade from 1.30, just import product file.
-14/08/2006 : version 1.30 released thanks to Calorie : the installation is now fully automatic ; you just have to upload product file and that's all (no need to edit php file anymore) ; the english translation is also better thanks to Calorie.
-07/08/2006 : version 1.23 released ; new options available : Link to profil, Left margin, Text color and some Special behaviour for quotes of light, dark and pastel sets. Text color problem for some styles corrected. To update, just import xml product file and upload pictures (there are new ones)
-15/07/2006 : version 1.22b released ; link to a picture corrected
-14/07/2006 : version 1.22 released ; code is simpler ; use now $style variable instead of $styleid ->allow guests to see the right bbcode set
-12/07/2006 : version 1.21 released ; now you can config several style ids (for real this time)
-12/07/2006 : version 1.2 released ; new installation procedure ; many big problems corrected ; html code of new bbodes templates updated ; tested and validated XHTML
-03/07/2006 : now you can config several style ids
-Important-
To update from 1.30 just import the product file
To uninstall version 1.1 or version 1.2, you have to follow a specific procedure described in the archive.
[s]To avoid display problems, i strongly advice you to set the "Code Block Width" (available in you style options) to 100%. If you prefer pixels, choose a little value ; especually if you're using legacy postbit. Never enter "auto" otherwise it won't work.
The "Code Block Width" must be in pixels ;) Otherwise there are too numerous problems. So forget my advice to put a value in %. It must be in pixels. In 800x600 there is a display problem, but it's the same thing with vb default templates. So i guess we can't do anything.
If the text display doesn't suite you, you can do easily what you want. Just turn off the "CSS BBcode text" module and create the CSS : .bbcode
Do it on your own : you won't be helped for this.
This modification is available in french on vBulletin-fr.org
This french forum is acting against vB piracy

just wondering... does html has to be enabled?
cclaerhout
03 Jul 2006, 02:56
Not at all. When i'm talking about the html bbcode, it's just the html tag
For exemple, you've got an html code you want to share with people. You just have to put it between html tags
Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------
You don't have to worry, you don't want activate html ? So don't activate it, and this mod will still works ;)

Hi, really liked the idea of this one but am having serious layout problems.
Both in IE and FF the graphics expand the size of the page dramatically, creating a horizontal scroll bar!
Done various tests, trying to see what causes it, but the same thing happens every time, see screeny please.
Any suggestions?

Sorry to ruin your day.
The horizontal scroll bar problem is a lot better, but when people view threads with any of the bbcode_ mods, in screen resolutions of 1024x768 or less, they still get the horizontal scrollers.
The other problem is that we own a copy of Geeks Auto-Links and get some peculiar irregularities in the display as you can see from the images below.
The top two are from Internet Explorer and the lower two from Firefox.
In Firefox the GALs are being truncated, but in IE the GAL logo is overwriting the first character of the GAL.

It would be really great if this can be fixed as all our members really like this mod.
Many thanks

That's strange. I'm going to try to reproduce this error. I don't think it will be hard to solve if i manage to reproduce it.

Thanks for the link sent in PM. I've looked at the code and it seems there is a problem with your GAL configuration.
The error comes from the $username variable used in quotes bbcode ! It is replaced by
Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------
Check your configuration... the problem doesn't come from this hack. Just a question : don't you have a problem with the normal vB bbcodes ? I'm sure TheGeek will have a solution ;)

You're getting this one third hand because I was reciting what a couple of my members had reported back to me. I will ask them for screenies.
p.s. I must admin that I couldn't replicate the scrolling bars either..

As far as I can see, the GAL replacement is correct and going through the 'Replacements' it is as it should be, and display correctly everywhere else.
What do you mean am I having a problem with the normal vB bbcodes?? You confuse me a little.

Tell me if the defaut quotes bbcode (see the picture) has the same problem or not. To access defaut vb bbcodes don't precise your style id in the options.
I don't understand : You've made a replacement on some usernames ?

I've understand what your member means. There are still problems with ie. Some french users report me a few problems (one is going to be hard to solve -> try to generate your cache and you will understand.). I'll try to release an update tomorrow before going on a business trip for 2 days.

Great hack and working fine for me but wondering please if it's possible to move the Word for the BBCode being used form the right over to the left hand side please. I see that Quote is on the left but HTML, CODE & PHP are all over on the right hand side.
Thank you..:)

cclaerhout, I have worked out what the problem is when displaying bbcode_quote that contain GAL'ed words.
To come straight to the point, where in your templates can I change the linking back to original thread from the $username to the word 'Quote' on the left please?

I installed your hack and it just didnt work out with my forum, my forum is a very dark skin and it just didnt look right. Any way so I went to remove it, I put the class_bbcode.php back to normal (from a back up I created) and then removed the plugin using the plug in manager. This is where things went wrong...:(
Now if I attempt to go to any thread I get this

You've already told me this and i had understood the first time. I've spent almost a week to debug and solve the problems. Beside this, i've got a job... ;). As i've already told you, when i saw the screen capture you've joined in your first message, i think the html code must be rewritten to use with right to left language. It requires time, but it first requires to have a good code otherwise i'm going to spend more time to make updates than to correct problems.

If you uninstall version 1.1 and install version 1.2 you don't loose any html code. But it seems there is still a problem i need to fix to make it work well.

If I revert back to the master is this going to mess with any of my other, hacks I installed ??

If you upgrade to 3.6, your master template will be automaticly replaced. Just don't forget to uninstall bbcodemanager 1.1 before to update to 3.6.
If you load again your mastertemplate with the same vB version than the one you're using, it won't mess with any of your other hacks. Any modified templates will stay modified. Again, sorry for this.
Does someone test my new xml file above ? I prefere to be sure it works (for me it does) before to do another new update :D

-Use png with IE ; so yes you need a transparency IE hack
-Use gif for all browsers
-Activate IE 6 detection to use gif format only with that browser. But to make that option works, you have to set the Cached Posts Lifespan to 0 in vB options.

On my forum, we don't really use html, code, etc. We just do quotes. However, I would love for the users to be able to have a few option of quote colors to select. I can just created some different flavors of the quote tag to do that, right?

Hi dude... nice mod, just wondered if you could advise me further... if you check the attached which is using the 70% tr style i seem to have problems getting colours to work with the text within the quote... an extra css def seems to be ignored... as you can see the best i can do is make it whiter... should i perhaps concider making the PNG files for this style/quote more transparent?

Okay. Got it installed. Working fine.
However, I would like the quote to be more indented. I'd like a little more space on the left-hand side. How do I do that?
Also, I want the text within the quote to be larger. Do you know where I set that?
Then, there is one little thing that I don't have a good idea for yet. In the 3.6, when quoting a post, IF there is a quote, you get that quote link. Great. Now, with this installed, you get the quote graphic, but you have no idea at all if it is an active link or just a nice graphic--especially with all the old posts that don't have the links. You have to move your mouse to hover over it, to determine if you can click to the quoted post or not.
Actually, perhaps a great workaround for that is add some logic that uses one color of the quote for clickable and a different color of the quote for non-clickable post references. Yes, that would be quite satifactory for me! I kind of like the idea of two different colors of quotes anyway. This is a good way to spice up the visual a bit. For those that want a monochromatic look, they can still use the same color!
Also, it would have been nice if vB had made the person's user name being quoted clickable to their profile to do a quick look at them or their other posts. It's a perfect spot for that to make it more usable. Any chance that can be included in this?

I think you misunderstood what I was looking for in moving the quote more to the right. I want the whole thing moved. Graphics and all.
Actually, here is where I think I want to make a change (in the template):
<!-- Dark bbcode_quote-->
<div dir="ltr" style="align:right;margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:5px;width:90%;color:black;">
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">

The 90% is about perfect, but the whole quote is still lined up on the left. I want it lined up on the right or preferrably, CENTERED. But align:right or align:center isn't taking.

Okay. I got it. I added an inclusive div tag with aligned right. Changed the table to 95%. Can't use centered, because then some of the small word text will escape up into the right-hand margin. Yuk.
Then just made sure the correct table cells for the quote and msg were left aligned.

cavyspirit
09 Aug 2006, 00:45
Create a new user-defined class in your css file.
Here's mine:
.quotefont {
font-size: 15px;
}
Change the BBcode template to quotefont from smallfont where it refers to the actual message. I also removed the italics because some the referenced text was in italics for a reason, and putting the whole message in italics when it's referenced loses some of the readability.
You COULD also add bold BUT, personally, I would advise against it as some of your referenced text would be bold for a reason and you would lose that.

When I post in the forum that I have allowed, it works fine. When i post in the other forums which aren't allowed, it still works with the new style quote.

Without vBa installed, then 'vBa Option' and 'vBa Option - All Forums' should be no and 'vBa Option - Forum IDs' should be blank. There isn't an option to set the new style quotes on a per forum basis, but it's possible by editing the 'Cache and Variables' plugin:
Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------
Haha! Ya know, that's my bad. I'm a dummy. I didn't read any of that vBa stuff correctly. It didn't sink in until just now when you mentioned vBa installed.

I turned this off by removing the style id from the set I was using. Now after adding the style id number back in, I cannot seem to get the new style quote to display in pervious posts. I tried setting the Cached Posts Lifespan back to 0 and that did not work.

Does anyone know the fix for this?
It works great on my test board for 3.6 but its needed on my live board running 3.5.4.
On the latest version of Safari when quoting a large amount of text, without a cited original author or post, there will be a small hole in the outer frame of the bubble -- just to the right of the "quote" bubble.

This hack is compatible with Highlightning-Hack. Nevertheless Highlightning-Hack uses its own template. So it's normal if the display isn't the same. I've tried to unify both, but the result is not good : there is a scrollbar not very pretty.
Edit : Well the problem with the scrollbar is a bug with all bbcode / So i'll have to correct it. And i will give you the way to unify AdvancedHighlightning Product with this one.
Edit 2 : well i've discover another display problem with IE... i'm sure i had corrected before. I don't understand. I'll make a new released soon.
Edit 3 : well the bug is not a bug :D Now i undersand why vB wants the "Code Block Width" to be in pixels ;) Otherwise there are too numerous problems. So forget my advice to put a value in %. It must be in pixels. In 800x600 there is a display problem, but it's the same thing with vb default templates. So i guess we can't do anything.

What do you mean with "change the colors" ? You just have to configure the BBCODE sets according to the style ID.
Also, is there a way for quotes to dispaly normal text instead of italics? Yes there is always a a way ;) I'm going to work on it to avoid you to edit templates. But i will be out next days. So this mod won't be released quickly.

So they can concentrate more efficent for solving a problem. When they've read the Thread they can expand the code. This was a whish of one our members ;)

Everything's fine with Firefox 1.5 but for my IE users I'm getting this. Btw, this is pre IE-7

I don't know which version of IE 7 your users have, but it seems to be quiete old. IE 7 has corrected the problem with the transparency of png. Tell them to upgrade their Beta to RC1. I can't do anything for them.

Believe me I know. I don't expect you to do anything also. It's not our fault their backed up. Btw, I'm running 3.5.4 and everything seems to be running fine so no problems there either.

GIF or PNG formats available for pictures. Autodetect IE 6 function to use gif extension for this browser. In order to work efficiently the Cached Posts Lifespan must be set to 0 in vB options
My Cached Posts Lifespan is set to: 15
Is disabling the Cached Posts Lifespan needed for only this feature or the whole hack?
I've rebuild the post cache and all of the changes are gone. Quoted posts are displayed in the default vBulletin boxes.
Here are my settings:
Image Extension: GIF
Autodetect IE 6: Disabled
Link to Profile: Enabled
Left Margin: None
Text size: 12
Text Color: Black
Simple bbcode Set: 1 (the others are blank)
Simple bbcode Transparency: Blank
Simple bbcode Mono-bubble: Enabled
Quotation Color: Disabled
Advanced Syntax Highlighting Hack: Disabled
So Cached Posts Lifespan must be set to 0 and the post cache must never be rebuilt after this hack installed?
