View Full Version : Members who have visited Today (or in the last 24 hours).
This modification is no longer supported.
It will remain available for download and use, but the thread is no longer monitored.
This adds a simple display of all members who have visited the forum - either today (i.e. since the users midnight) or in the last 24 hours.
Note: it is not possible for this hack to count guests - however, see this thread (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=131314) to track guests.
The main features of the 3.6 version are basically the same as previous versions ;
1. It displays the list on the Forum Home.
2. The list view is collapsable, so you just see the number.
3. Invisible users are only displayed to those allowed to see them (with a "*")
4. Users who should display as coloured or bold etc will be displayed correctly (based on the display usergroup).
5. If you 'hover' over a username it will show the time they were last active.
6. The list is in member name order.
7. The mod is phrased.
8. The ability to turn it on/off is in the ACP Options.
9. The ability to allow only certain usergroups to view the list is an ACP option (include or exclude groups).
10. The switch between Visited Today and Rolling 24 Hours is an ACP option.
11. The listing of members can now be suppressed (a simple message is displayed instead).
12. The list of names can be set to be always collapsed on initial view.
13. The option to record and display the Most Ever visitors has been added (v4.43+).
(Options are in vBulletin Options > Who has visited today)
Unzip the XML and import into vB using the ACP Product Manager.
To upgrade from the 3.5 version just re-import the product with the overwrite option set to yes.
EvilHawk has also updated his WVT on a seperate page, see this post.
History:
v4.30 : First version for 3.6, a number of bits have been re-written.
v4.31 : Dependancies updated for 3.6.0 Gold.
v4.32 : Updated for Version Checking.
v4.33 : Added options to disable/change auto template insert (not released).
v4.34 : Internal code changes (not released).
v4.35 : More Internal code changes.

v4.39 : Fix uncached template.

v4.41 : Moved auto-template options to mods main settings group.
v4.42 : Usergroup display and other options added. Updated to prevent loading user data when name display is disabled.

Hi Paul, I wonder if you could help me out. I'm not yet using the latest update as I haven't upgraded the site in question yet - but on one of the styles - http://www.lightfighterforums.com/index.php?styleid=3 - we've moved the who's online area to the top. I believe, because of this, the who's been on mod won't work :(.. works wonderfully in the default and other custom style just not this one... any chance you could point me in the right direction of what to move?

In that style, find this the template ;

I was just noticing, Paul you have the Version Check pointing to what appears to be a vb.org Version Check -- it doesn't work, but I was just wondering if we'll be able to do this?
It's certainly planned as part of the 3.6 upgrade, but no, it doesn't work yet.

I got a ton of those when I was upgrading, and if you notice the top says 3.5.4, so it's not from your 3.6.0 version. run through those and I doubt you'll get any more of them.

You will have to edit the templates manually if they are not parented by the default theme. Or if the actual used template is modified from the default theme.
Template management tip: Don't edit the default template. Create a child template and edit that instead. Then, when everything works as it should, set this child template as forum default.

Paul, Thanks for replying -- I have not edited the Index.php file. All I did was was upgrade my board to v3.6.0 and CMPS to 2.2.0. I did have the plugin (Members who have visited Today (or in the last 24 hours)) installed while I was running 3.5.5 and did not uninstall it before upgrading my VB - then I installed the latest version for 3.6.0. Could that having something to do with it?
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin a few times now and still have the same issue. Does this plugin install anything into the Database?
I just found out that it's also dooing the same thing with the "Whos in Chat" plugin too. I was going to post in that thread, but since your name was there too, I figured I'd mention here.

1)
First go to maintenance / update counters:
Click the button "rebulid styles" with the options set to:
"Check For Styles With No Parent" set to "yes"
"Renumber all templates from 1" set to "no".
Did this help? If not, then proceed.
2)
In the admincp, under vbulletin options / style & language settings:
Set "default style" to what you want it to be.
Then go into styles & templates /style manager:
Check the checkbox to the left of the style you want the users to have.
Then, (at least until you solved this problem), uncheck the checkboxes to the left of all the other checkboxes, so that the users cannot select those styles.
Did this help? If not, then proceed.
3)
Then go into forums & moderators / forum manager:
Edit each of the forums and set "custom style for this forum" to "use default style".
Or, you can set "Override Users' Style Choice" to "no" for each forum.
Freferrably you do both.
Now your users can only see the forum with the default style you selected above.
Did this help? Really hope so.
Two question:
Can your users see the information field "Currently Active Users:"?
Have your users selected to "browse invisible"?
Good luck!

I'd like to uninstall the plugin and then locate the floaters and delete them manually. Then reinstall the plugin again... any suggestions on where to find these floaters (whether it's in the DB or not?).

That seems to be kind of global or I'm missing the point entirely. I was hoping there might be a template edit or possibly a file edit to get rid of the underlined links in the Who Visited box only.

That does not seem to affect this hack.
Hi
I had this hack on 3.0.12 I have upgraded to to 3.6.0.
I have reverted all my forums I have uploaded the hack & it will not dispay anything.
Any help on this I did not see any template changes for this hack in the zip am I missing something?
Thanks in advance
There are no template edits in this, it searches for a standard comment in the existing template and inserts the display after it.
Great post but have question. It shows user's in alphebetical order. Is there a way to set random? It seems to slow down forum on refresh. TIAThere is no option to do that, you would have to edit the SQL in the plugin.

Make sure you have the 3.6 version of the add-on installed, then run this query.
Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------
See if that fixes the stats, if not then run this to reset them completely.
Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------
How do I run a query? I did one the other day by tacking it into the address bar, but I also see a place to run queries in the admin panel. It tells me I don't have permission to do that tho. I can fix that part I think, but I just want to be sure I'm doing it in the right place. Thanks in advance for your help. :)
That is the correct place (after you update your config.php to allow you to run queries).

I'm not sure if this is partly what i'm after http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showpost.php?p=1049465&postcount=39
but what im after is this.
the words that say "What's Going On?" you click on that and it will show the currently active users and the people who have visitied in the last 24 hours on another page.
And what is shown on the forum home to be:
Currently Active Users: 408 (265 members and 143 guests)
Then show those names but have the option to only show it to certain usergroups so then I may decided to turn them all off.
and then
show
Total members that have visited the forum in the last 24 hours: 2,349
and then the same again So I may want to not show them to anyone, so they will have to click on the whats going on to see them etc.
do you get what I mean? and would this be able to be done, or is there things already out that will do this?
Thanks.

26 Sep 2006, 00:29
Usergroup settings ?
Set to '0' so all members can see.
Then there is no reason for it not to show.
The usual reason I have found in these cases is a broken plugin attached to the cache_templates hook, preventing the code from running. Without access to your boards plugins there is nothing else I can tell you. If you know what you are doing, then disable all other plugins on that hook (try the same for the other hook used - this is much less likely though, as it would probably show a visible error).

This is the plugin that is causing the problem.
The plugin posted is attached to forumhome_complete so I can't see how it would affect forumhome_start - plus, it just performs an include, I/we cannot see what's in that file.
From its format, that looks like a very old plugin as well, is it used ? does that file even exist still ?

However, as the original is something I use on various forums, I prefer to keep it seperate for now.
Usergroup settings ?
About those...
I was wondering how hard (ie, would you do it ;) ) it would be to have a setting that blocks certain usergroups, instead having to go through and add all of them I want to see this. Maybe?
Set it to zero if you want all groups to be able to view.
I'm not going to change the way it works, as IMO, it's fine for the majority. :)

WVT display on a seperate page, is the original full product with the addition of an option to display visiting member not at forum index but to a new page, usefull for forums with many visiting members (for example we have over 2000 member' s visit a day) . So you need to install only the one that's suits best for your forum.

Okay.. thanks for the clear and simple instruction. My site dont have the 2000 members yet, so I dont think I need it now. I will just install the original version.

can anyone tell me why?
Because you have an error on your site when displaying member profiles - you need to start a new thread for that as it's not related to this mod.
Paul,
That issue that has been cropping up for some on the 12/31/1969 dates for most users I have traced to this hack. Now I have been running the latest version and when I disabled this hack and did the mysql query
UPDATE datastore
SET data = ''
WHERE title = 'maxloggedin'
It fixed it as it usually does but this time without this hack running, it's stays fixed. Where of course before it would fix it until you refreshed.
Now this is the same with the hack of who's posted today too. With either one running, it reverts back to 12/31/1969.
So although I have been running the latest verison. I uninstalled this hack, redownloaded it and reinstalled it and it came back.
Thoughts?
I thought it might be another hack effecting this one but the counter of "most ever users" is updating on it's own and acting properly.
update --- It appears to be the complimentary hack to this one for most ever users that was the real culprit.
I had totally forgotten this was a separate hack and when I updated the "users in the last 24 hours" and "posters in the last 24 hours" hacks, I didn't update the "most ever" hack.
This caused the 12/31/1969 date to appear and only show 1 user.
Totally my mistake but maybe someone that did the same thing will benefit from this.
Yes, you cannot run the 3.5 version of that mod on 3.6.
I think i'll just remind everyone who still has it installed.

You can also edit the all plugins under this product via plugin manager.. Or if you asking for change shettings then try AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Who Has Visited Today option.. Paul,
Nice Job as usual. I installed it today on my live site in a few seconds and had no problems.
I never really relized how many members visited the site in one day. I usually see 45-50 members online during the weekdays and 10-15 during the weekends at one time, I was kinda shocked to see over 380 members online since midnight, and its only sunday haha, I am really going to be shocked when everyone gets to work on monday.
Thanks Again for a great Job

Hi Paul M,
I had your 4.35 version with Tom M's vBa CPMS module working perfectly (http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13431&highlight=visited+today)
However, I then deleted Tom's module and updated your's to 4.36, but now the number of members who visited does not show with the rolling 24 hours option (the correct number of names do get displayed however).
Any idea what it could be? I've overwrite, uninstall and reinstall but still no luck.

Sorry, I don't run CMPS, nor to I test any changes with 3rd party add-ons.
The way the count is displayed has changed in 4.36, it's built into a single phrased variable now ($whotitle) instead of being displayed separately as a phrase and count (using $whodesc/$ftotaltoday) - so you (or Tom) probably need to update any template that the CMPS module uses.
Thank you for the reply Paul,
Actually I deleted the vBa CPMS mod, but I guess there must be some stuborn code that did not get removed. I'll mess around with it somemore I guess.
Again, thank you for the reply and keep up the great work!

I don't understand this - the previous versions used to provide the number of members online last 24h and not only the list of members. I upgraded today, and the number is gone. What happened? I need the number to be visible.

Garamond.
You are either using a customised template, or customised phrase, whichever it is will need to be reverted/re-edited.

Yes of course Icy, thanks for the quick answer. I didn't include the {1} when customising the language. Thanks again.

Hi,
Any ideas why this has started showing most visitors was 1 in 1970?
It was in the hundreds, now it's 1 and 1970?
Thanks
This does not display most visitors [date], are you referring to the add-on, or the default vb displayed dates ?

Yep, I had both threads open at the same time on Firefox so posted in the wrong one :D
I've managed to find the code I needed and it's fixed it on all but the most chatters in the chatroom, so I am happy.

I have never installed a plugin with VB (3.6.3) before. Here are my questions:
(admincp/ plugins & products/ad new plug in?)
if so..what do I select from the dropdown menu when it asks "hook location" and what is the "execution order" ???
I am aware that I have to enable the plugin system as well.
