I would give the text a cleaner crispier look. The slogan especially looks a little blurry but that could be the setting of the drop shadow you have implemented behind it.
Looks prity good for a first try but I would fix the text has it looks a little blurry. ;)

- need more contrast
- remove/modify the shadow on text (makes it hard to read)
Thanks peeps...I did think it was a little blurry but your opions have made my mind up lol....
I will re-evaluate the slogan text/style...
Thanks again for your thoughts
Ok, i have had another go....
Must admit, it looks better actually on site lol
Your thoughts please?

I very much prefer that one to the first one. Even as a thumbnail, it's a lot clearer.

you still need to provide more contrast ... the buttons on your site provide more contrast than your logo
logo is too BIG ... there's no reason why you couldn't make it smaller

I usually design logos in grayscale first, then add color. That's just me though.

The logo is very basic..
-unnecessary comments removed- If you are going to provide feedback, please do so without insults.

Sorry - guess I should've explained that I sometimes design in grayscale so I can layout my dominant elements.
IMHO logos should state your business name and 1 element that compliments your business branding. Too much can get confusing.
If it were me... I would use the character and put the words bashy's place under his arm. I think the character is more identifiable with your font and colors. I would also remove the elements around that so they don't wash out the lettering. If you don't want to remove the other images I would then look into either a fatter font or putting a light glow arounf the letters.
That's just my opinion
Now that I look at it more, you could put bashy in between bashy's and place but above 'the place to be'
hope this helps or maybe sparks another idea
