View Full Version : Members who have posted Today (or in the last 24 hours)

Paul M
28 Jul 2006, 21:12
This modification is no longer supported.
It will remain available for download and use, but the thread is no longer monitored.

This plugin adds a simple display of all members who have posted in the forum - either today (i.e. since midnight) or in the last 24 hours.

The main features of the 3.6 Version are basically the same as previous versions ;

1. It displays the list on Forum Home.
2. The list view is collapsable, so you just see the number of posters.
3. Invisible users are only displayed to those allowed to see them (with a "*")
4. Users who should display as coloured or bold etc will be displayed correctly. (based on the display usergroup)
5. If you 'hover' over a username it will show the time they last posted.
6. The list is in member name order.
7. If you click on a members name it will list their posts.
8. The hack is phrased.
9. The ability to turn it on/off is in the ACP Forum Home Options.
10. The ability to allow only certain usergroups to view the list is an ACP option (include or exclude groups).
11. The switch between Posted Today and Rolling 24 Hours is an ACP option.

Below added in v4.39
12. The listing of names can now be suppressed (a simple message is displayed instead).
13. The list of names can be set to be always collapsed on initial view.
14. The option to record and display the Most Ever posters has been added (v4.45+).

(Options are located in vBulletin Options > Who Has Posted).

Unzip the XML and import into vB using the ACP Product Manager. Make sure you check the display settings once installed.

To upgrade from the 3.5 version just re-import the product with the overwrite option set to yes.

I don't think I would want this displayed to all my members, because I already have the "members in the past 24 hours" who logged in mod. But I would like this to be displayed just for statistical purposes.

So is there a way to have it work to only be displayed when an administrator is looged in?

Paul M

See point 10 in the listed features.

Does this tell how many posts they've made? Or just who has posted?

Paul M
06 Aug 2006, 16:55
It will show when they last posted, but not how many posts they have made.

Phaedrus
06 Aug 2006, 18:17
It will show when they last posted, but not how many posts they have made.

If you click on the name it shows all the posts that they made in that day... So if they wanted to count they could pretty easily figure it out I guess...

Do you mean something like this ;

The most posters in one day was 15, 06-01-2006.

There is an add-on (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=122425) that does that.

Nope Paul_M, I mean the most number of posts in one day, something like the one you linked in the previous post but instead of the posters I wanted to be reported the number of posts.

Is there any reason why the "most ever" (of this and the visited hack) numbers would reset if no other changes have been made? This happened once before and happened again today. Today was very bad timing because we got a write up in today's newspaper, and as of this moment, it is saying the most posters in one day is 7 and most visiters is 15 - both numbers about 1/6 of what they should be. :(

Great hack BTW, this is the only issue I have had with it!

Paul M
03 Nov 2006, 14:19
That's actually an issue with the CMPS usersonline module (http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?p=96689#post96689). They fixed it in 2.2.1.

JenniferK
03 Nov 2006, 14:22
So even though I'm talking about the display on the forum home, not on the CMPS page, the 2.0 version of vBAdvanced is causing the problem?

There is no code in this mod that can alter those dates.

That screenshot is rather small and hard to read, but I think you have the most members/posters etc add-on installed, if you have the vb3.5 version of that mod on a vb3.6 forum then it will break the dates like that. You need to visit the support thread for that add-on.

I have this and the visitors in last 24 hours installed and both display like this:

v4.41 - fixed the table index issues, the index was not being created on install, if you already had the index from earlier versions, it wasn't being used. On larger forums this will speed up the query this runs.

looking at it, I think it's one of 2 things, something I have installed is conflicting or the database has an issue.
MySQL Error : Duplicate entry 'enable_wpt' for key 1

JamieLee2k
12 Jan 2007, 23:38
I had a look in the AdminCP and the product is there, says it's active, and the settings are correct, it's just not working.

If you want a list of mods I have installed then I can let you know by PM

Thanks
JamieLee2k

Paul M
13 Jan 2007, 05:38
The error means that when vb came to add that settings entry (for 'enable_wpt') it found it already existed. If uninstalling the product does not remove that entry from the database then you will have to do it manually.

A list of mods isn't going to be of any use, if you want me to look at a problem then I would need admin access to the forum (with sql query ability).

On my forum I have Total members that have visited the forum today: 25 and Total members that have posted on the forum today: 11.

I'd like for the coding on the Total members that have posted on the forum today to have a - X%. The X% would be the result of the result from Total members that have posted on the forum today: 11/Total members that have visited the forum today: 25

Where would I look so I could slightly modify this? On the line where it shows ' Total members that have posted on the forum today I want there to be a percentage that shows the percentage of people who have posted relative to how many visited on any particular day.

I think I posted about it before, but I didn't get an answer.

You can't just do that as there is no count of how many visited in this mod.

But isn't the number derived elsewhere on the board where I could ask it to do a simple division problem?

Nope, default vb does not provide a visitors count.

Who Visited - Rolling 24 Hours = No

I noticed the other day we had our most visitors for the day. Yeh!!

However, it was showing as most users first thing the next morning, as "today" not "yesterday".

Is this a bug, or is there a setting that I need to ensure that it resets the count at local time?

Visitors ??

This is the posters modification :)

As for the question - hard to say without seeing it happen, but I can't see how it would be wrong.

Nope, default vb does not provide a visitors count.I was about to PM you until I read your signature. I don't mean to hammer away at this question, but it seems unlikely in my mind that there isn't a way to do what I'm asking.

Okay, please look at my board's statistics just so you know what I have installed for mods as far as the statistics go. http://www.s0lidgr0und.org/index.php

In the statistics I have a box that shows me 'Total members that have visited the forum today: Y and I have another box that shows me Total members that have posted on the forum today: X. The numbers that are on the board as X or Y have to be derived somewhere because they're right there plain as day.

My ultimate question in the whole thing is this:
I want to make it so the board takes the number it derives for visitors posted and divide it by the number derived for total board visitors so I can have an obvious number illustrating the percentage of my members who visit the board in a day who actually post.

I'm not a pro at this by any stretch of the imagination, but in my mind if the numbers can be generated however they're generated for the current mods I have in place why wouldn't they be able to be generated again and be included in a simple division problem?

My apologies again for the apparent confusion I'm either experiencing or causing.

The one think I noticed today is that your friends are not showen with (+) sign in the list.
Imvisible users are showen with (*) sign but friends now.
I think this one must be corrected with an option to disable this one.

The same for

Members who have visited Today (or in the last 24 hours).
Who has read a Thread

Hi,

I have installed this but nothings shows ? I have even check the default skin to make sure it is not conflicting with my installed styles.

What settings does this mod affect and what do I need to change to get it working ?

Thanks
