Raid 5 vs Raid 10? [Archive] - vBulletin.org Forum

I'm moving to a bit larger forum, when it comes to hard drives, I have two options:

3 x 73GB Scsi - Raid 5
or
4 x 73GB Scsi - Raid 10

What setup will give me a faster site, what setup will be more reliable? Is one prefered over the other for large databases?

RAID 10 has less of a write performance penalty than RAID 5. if you're going to be doing a lot of DB work (which you will be with vBulletin) then you should go with 10 instead of 5.
