Funky symbols?

[docopharm]

Since I can't use the RSS feed in vBadvanced that I wanted to b/c my host won't allow a CHMOD 777, I went to a site (http://www.rss-info.com/en_rssinclude-simple.html) that writes the PHP code for the feed of your choice. I added a module using that code, cleaned the file and saved. Works well except for some "junk" on top of the module when it's displayed. Here's a screen shot of what it is:

yeah, I'm on dreamhost and sometimes I'll see symbols like that in the shoutbox for about 5 seconds then it disappears. Or I'll see it at the top left corner and I'll have to refresh the page.
