Hello all.

One of my members has alerted me that this system can be abused. I recently installed a Casino hack which I am sure some of you are aware about and it has lead to some investigating ways on how to cheat the system.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before but I been given a very easy step by step guide on how to do it in a post.

I have been shown the way!!!

and I know it sux!! but there are a few members on here that are rawting the system.... let me expose them.

Here are the easy steps to gain 1000k without any sweat!!!! I am not going to name names who is doing this, they know who they are.

STEP ONE: write your sentence, for example, " I hate the way that......... "

STEP TWO: hit the space bar and let it ride for 100+ spaces

STEP THREE: Highlight the 100+ spaces

STEP FOUR: hold CTRL and press C [copy] the spaces

STEP FIVE: Unhighlight hold CTRL and press V till you get to 10000 characters [the forum will tell you if you go over the limit!!]

STEP SIX: delete the extra space to get to 10000 characters!!! and WHALLAH 1000k of credits to your credit account!!!

My board has version 1.3 currently installed on it.

I used to have 1.3 on my board, then removed it, Uninstalled the product and undid the template changes. Then installed the 1.4RC1, everything works just fine except for the "Mass Credit Updater". Once I try it, it keeps going for ever and the screen refreshes itself once in a second and the process never stops.

Any input is appreciated

add that feature alone... and I think this can really take off as well as be a good revenue stream (pay for gifts).

the beta program has been extremely useful. 1.4 final is pretty much certifiably bug free from all of the testing that went on what was completed before i was even done programming everything. and besides, the beta period lasted scarcely over a week as i recall. :D and those who got it early were completely happy, according to the feedback

We went to mass update everyone and clicked yes for the backdate and set add to totals field as YES and then all the members' values are in the millions!! LOL.

How do we reset everything to initial default values as when first installed for all the fields in admin cp panels?? We tried clicking reset in mass updater and nothing happened.

Change the credits phrase to $ and use 2 for displayed decimals. When users have 0 credits it will show up as only 0 though, but shouldnt be a huge problem

That reset button is just the standard form reset :D the defaults arent readily accessible (you could look at the database or the install files), or if you still cant find them, pm me an email address and which version you are using and ill try to compile the list for you

I am running vbCredits 1.4 at my vbulleting 3.6.7 and enabled reputation modificator rising up each 10000 credits. I got now following problem with reputation modifier in postbit. The base value is displayed in each post only the thread openers value is added with the credits points for the reputation modifier.

vBCommerce falls under the same policy as vBCredits as a "beta of an eventual free product". However once it hits rc it will become available freely on my site, and when its final, released here. vBCredits 1.4 was in beta about a week. In fact, many of the premium members who signed up for 1.4 will most likely be able to still qualify for the vbcommerce beta

yes, vbcommerce relies on many things introduced in 1.4

upgrade is quick and painless :) you wont lose any of your credit totals or settings that exist in the new version. There will, however, be a lot of new settings for you to check out, and even a new credit total :-p (savings)

When i click the links "credits( i changed it to loot)" in my board i get a page not found. Did i miss something?

I did everything the instructions asked, and it visually looks good. I am missing 2 things:

1. the place in the usergroup to edit the values for credits
2. when i click the links in "manage credits" or anything to do with the credits links the pages arent found.

it would appear you did not upload the credits.php page to your forum root, or the bitfields_credits.xml file to your includes/xml/ folder

that requires a special integration addon (separate because its mostly file edits) which is being developmed simultaneously

top credit holders and donations are accessed via the usercp (credits.php) which is also linked from postbits, profiles, and the navbar..

referral credits are only awarded when they are validated according to your global settings. (minimum posts, days, and reputation that you set)

also, they only are checked (and awarded) every midnight

ive gave up on this for this yr - like i said earlier on in the thread proberly be 2008 before its out along with the addons.

I had to get a coder to make me an addon to this : it charges members points to download attachments and can also exclude certain usergroups.

Had to uninstall. After I made the settings the mod got out of hand. One user earned 1000 credits in 1 hour and another got -15 without doing something. The most was set to default, but even editing posts and threads gave credits even for each attachment in the edited thread. The thread credits do not work correctly and the mod is uncontrollable. The description on some settings is not clearly understandable.

you should have saved it for me to look at. the hack is far more stable than that - 99% of cases where something bizarre like that happens its because A) your settings were too radical and you didnt realize it or B) you enabled the post award system for users who would abuse it..

there are only maybe 2 earning bugs in 1.4rc1 (which i have patches for btw) and both have to do with LOSING credits.

even if it was a settings problem, after i looked it over and corrected them - a quick run of the mass credit updater would have set you back on your feet :)

besides, im sure i would have been mobbed by a thousand people if everyone had it as fluctuating as you did!

We had some work with our main day job client, that took priority over this mod. Last I talked to dark he was working on the admincp help system, which had over 100 items left, I think those are done now, however these extra touches we hope will help you guys get the most out of this hack.

These things take time to build... Dark is very close to a final relase.. I think all that is left is packaging but don't quote me..., those that want to see what 1.4RC1 can get it on our site. This mod has gone though heavy testing as well as tons of new content which members have requested.

Once this is done we can finally start getting vbcommerce ready (our item shop), and our other systems.

have you tried searching for the find code in your headers? You can also put $credits_navbar in your header and it will show the same thing as in your navbar

vBCredits in an incredibly huge script, and making it incredibly secure takes a bit of time, dark's been writing full admin help systems which took a very long time to write / due to limitations in mysql its self, some systems had to be fully rewritten so this took an incredible about of work to make it stable for your sites and fuction well.

I think for those waiting for this script you will see the incredible amount of work darkwaltz has put into this script once released, very soon, and we hope as bug free as possible. ;)

People... no one said this version (vbcredits v4.1RC1) was going to be compatible to vb 3.7. Those that upgraded jumped the gun! And I asked this question to Dark and Pixel on their support forum... the next new release will support the 3.7. But not any ßeta version.

So for now, don't install this if you plan to move to a ßeta upgrade of vb.... I would also suspect that those asking for help that are having issues because they upgraded to the ßeta vb won't get answered...

In your adminCP ---> usergroups ---> Usergroup Manager ---> *select usergroup* ---> Banking Loans and Drawings --->

From this menu select the following for the associated action:

To disable loans go to
--->Maximum per Loan ---> set to 0 to disable loans

To disable savings go to
--->Maximum Savings ---> set to 0 to disable savings

To reduce interest rates go to
--->Savings interest rate---> set to your preferred setting.

If you are so set on iBank (which "sux" I used to use it), then don't use vBCredits.

in your acp, go to the Languages & Phrases manager, click Search in Phrases, search text credits, search variable name only, case sensitive and exact match yes. the only result should be the one you edit to whatever youd like.

are you trying to uninstall and then reinstall here? if you are upgrading your forum, the products should have remained untouched.

there WAS a bitfield conflict for 3.7, and the instructions to fix it are posted in vbcredits.com. otherwise, vbcredits seems to be working just fine in 3.7 beta 3, and I intend to make it work for both vb versions in 1.4 final.

sounds like you didnt upload the credits.php page. either that or you are using a cmps and you are clicking on a link outside of the forum directory and didnt add credits.php to the list of pages to adhere the forum url to.

sandt is completely right about how to remove banking and loans using the settings, although in 1.4rc1 some of the interfaces are still there (fixed properly in 1.4 final) the quickest way to completely remove the loans stuff is to set high values to qualify for the bank in the bank settings. you also change the interest rates in the usergroup editor.

The image is accidentally labeled as credits.GIF, you should change it to credits.gif (lowercase) if your server doesnt like it (non windows). as for where it shows up, its for the post award system. enable it (along with the other settings you are looking for) in the usergroup manager.

if you get 404 page not found, the credits.php is not in the correct directory. make sure its in your forum root.

that works well if you reward reputation points then it gives your credits. I want it to work in revers. So that if you get credits it then bumps up the reputation points. Is that possible or am i not seeing it.

No thats not possible. But if you wanted reputation to be the same as credits... why not just use reputation for stuff? You actually can if third party hacks allow you to specify a database row. You could even do it with post count!

If you have TMS hacked installed goto Styles & Templates --> Template-Modifications Manager under the master style click on vbcredits. look for Display Credits in Postbit Legacy in the bottom box replace it with this

This depends on which version you have installed..

If you have TMS, follow the TMS instructions above

If you have v1.3 of vbcredits, you will have to edit the plugins... which isnt pretty.

If you have v1.4X, just edit what you added to the postbit templates

When I see a profile and they have the Credits in there. it is a hyperlink. when i click on the hyperlink i get a "The webpage cannot be found"

You did not upload the credits.php file, or did not put it into the forum root directory.

If you have failed to do that for that file, you probably messed up the other ones, and you should double check them.

Yes, just edit them through the user editor like normal.

In the settings for those hacks, is an option for money row - put credits as the value for it to use vBCredits. If you need extra help with IShop, contact blaine

Not automatically, but you can use the award accounts by criteria tool in 1.4rc1

also a reminder to those upgrading to vb3.7b4, vbcredits does work with it, just one small compatibility edit

If you ran the mass credit updater its a little too late. Best thing would be to set everyone to 0 and let them go from there.

It is already compatible with 3.7, and presumably with the gold version. there was a conflict with bitfields, and the temporary fix is posted here:

how to set all to 0 ?? is there any other way than editing each user :o
and what is this mass credit updater and where is it, I don't remember running this kind of feature

In v1.3 of vbcredits, the mass credit updater is at the bottom of the update counters screen under the maintenance tab in the acp.
In v1.4, its the last link in the vBCredits ACP menu. In either case, select all groups, and select NO awards, and have a base credits of 0. After it runs, everyone will be at 0 again.

Do u mean the Award credit for post not counted ? I have set it to No in vbOptions in ACP ?
