How to create a "quote/caption box" for images

I've seen some pretty cool image wraps done with bbcode. We'd like to provide captions underneath images like you see on some news sites, etc. Essentially, a gray box with black text aligned with and directly underneath an image.

Is there anyway that we can accomplish this? Many thanks!
