I have a version that is pretty much ready to go. I hope to get some free time this week to release it.

I downloaded and installed but I don't see any button on my Editor in where to placed the video link, meaning kinda Windows Media Player button. I know is working b/c I place the Youtube link between the media /media tags and the video showed up on the Preview but no icon on the Editor and my members don't know anything about tags, I have to provide them w/ and icon and still I will have tons of questions LOL, what am I missing?. Do I have to have another version before installed this one?.

That happened to me sometimes in another site I do have and usually is b/c the video is not longer available/the person who uploaded to Youtube removed the video. Wish I can be more hepful.

They did not remove the video. When I check the original video from youtube, it's still there. I tried many times with different videos but no success.

You do not need any buttons.
Paste the link (without the media tags) and click preview or submit.
It should work.

BTW the "video is not longer available" is happening to me as well.
I suspect that Youtube is blocking hotlinks to some of the videos.

Nix, I would like for Goldbrick to throw up a big sign to my members when they try to post a media link, saying something like "You accept full responsibility for the media you are trying to submit. By clicking the ACCEPT button, you confirm that the media link you are submitting is not associated with any activities deemed illegal (in whichever country the server resides in). Blah blah blah,,,, and so on" And, then have a HUGE button with the word ACCEPT written across it, and another that says cancel. Or, something on these lines.

Is there a way to do this ^^

I have a "little" Problem with 1.91. When i try to play a Video, Goldbrick access the File as Guest, so in private Forums the Users see nothing. Under "Who is Online" i can see that in the background they become a "permission denied" and tracked as Guests.

I had a good search of this thread, but couldn't find a previous post about the issue.

Is there any way to parse links to videos posted before this product was installed? I used PassiveVid before and my URLs are all plain links. I saw someone post a similar problem earlier, but without response. All newly posted videos are parsed just fine, but old links remain as plain links.

Rebuilding the post cache didn't work and actually reset all [media] tags in new posts. It seems this product only activates upon submission of a post. It also doesn't seem to work when using the AJAX edit function, only when in advanced mode.

Can anyone shed light on what I'm doing wrong, or if you have found a solution to batch update posts with correctly parsed media tags?

.avi's don't work, .pdf's don't work, any videos loaded before goldbrick don't work, the vBulletin light box works but it's as slow as a wet weekend, the viewer doesn't have controls in firefox prior to the latest version and even in that one they disappear after a few seconds.

I've gone through this thread a dozen times and can't find fixes other than it doesn't work properly in firefox 2x. I'm using v1.91 Is it just me or is everyone else experiencing these problems as well? If you think you aren't you're probably using ie and forgetting about all the users of firefox, opera, safari, etc yet strangely enough it seems to work well in Google Chrome.

Excellent hack. But....... I'll be happier when I can get it all working right. Been messing with it for a number of weeks and waiting for the full version that hopefully fixes everything. Come on Nix show us your stuff. I'm sure it'll be fantastic when it's finished.

Just because you're not gettting your own issue resolved as fast as you would like doesn't mean the thread (and addon) isn't supported!

Remember, you pay nothingg for these plugins and addons. The developer supports them as they can, but that doesn't mean that free addons are top priority. People have to make money too, and in order to do that, they need to put priority where it SHOULD be, with paying clients, or a job.

Support for 'free addons' should always come at the bottom of the totem pole. Nix has done very well supporting this addon, give him a break, it's certainly not 'unsupported' at all.

nice and useful idea. But the following things keep me from using it:

1. I don`t want to add 60+ KB of js to my forum pages just to enable my users to view the videos

2. I need the embedding of e. g. youtube vids to be independent of JavaScript

3. I`d like to be able to modify the HTML used for the embedding in Template and not having to modify the xml or php files to do it

4. I`d like to be able to enable/disable external media sites like porntube etc.

So I`ll stick to custom bbcode until these features are added or I found out how to add them myself.

I have been trying all afternoon to set this up to accept images via the attachment manager, and use the goldbrick media player to run them as a slideshow

I can post a link to an image in the message box, it works fine. I can upload a video via the attachment manager, it works fine.

If I upload an image normally, it uses lightbox still... If I turn lightbox off, and upload an image, it just makes a new window.

I installed the mod 3 months ago. It works fine for me. But I had problems with the pages with lots of photos, they opend very slowly (about 3 min). I didn't know the cause of this until I found out that the tables gb_cache and gb_media in my database have about 1,5 million records each.

After that I turned on Goldbrick Cache in Goldbricks options, as you wrote here (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showpost.php?p=1552971&postcount=839), and set the chmod for the cache folder to 777.

The cache works fine! The pages with lots of photos load slowly only the first time, after that they open very quickly. But I have one question.

I do not await a reply, tried by myself. Initially, I renamed the tables gb_cache and gb_media. Nothing happened, the forum works fine. Then I just created new tables gb_cache and gb_media, using queries from the file product-goldbrick.xml, and renamed the old tables removed. I understand that when installed option Zend cache these tables are not used. Forum works fine -- quickly, without delay. Well this information would be added to the first message describing Goldbrick.

2) "Location" permet, après avoir choisi la France comme territoire, de voir
les mots clés les plus recherchés. Il est même possible de choisir la catégorie

catégories pour le mainstream mais malheuresement pas de catégorie
"adulte". On peut également voir les mots clés ayant la plus forte progression.

3) "Time range" donne des résultats similaires à l'option 2, la différence est
que l'on choisi d'abord la période analysée. C'est intéressant pour voir les
recherches les plus fréquentes ou même celles qui ont eu la plus forte
croissance les 7 derniers jours, pour savoir de quoi bloguer sur le
mainstream par exemple.

Conclusion : L'option 1 est la plus intéressante pour les webmasters adultes
mais les options 2 et 3 peuvent permettre d'extraire des informations intéressantes

Does the code work? Absolutely. I've seen it work, and I've gotten it to work myself, so it definitely DOES work.

Will it be buggy? Hey, that's what "beta" software is all about. Give the developer a chance to fix things.

Remember, people, these guys aren't paid a dime to release their code. Sometimes development will be slow. Since it works (at least on 3.7), there's no reason to put it in the graveyard.

mpeg != quicktime
when viewing mpeg files, user is prompted to download a "plugin", whether or not they already have quicktime installed.

Anyone know a fix for this? I love this mod, but will have to uninstall if rebuilding the post cache breaks all old posts every time :(

The mpeg settings are incorrect
mpeg != quicktime
when viewing mpeg files, user is prompted to download a "plugin", whether or not they already have quicktime installed.

Has anyone found a fix for this yet?

How do I resize Vimeo videos to the larger, HD size? I think its about 640 x 360 on their site.

I checked the "use Goldbrick option" and nothing happened. It only expands the invisible area
when you're in thread preview mode. Anyway, added title and 651 x 366 resolution. Video
still plays default smaller size of 400 x 225.

I even edited vimeo.php as nix instructed.

Cleared cache (hard refresh) after uploading the file, overwriting. Still same small default size.

2. when i add youtube video in user profile from user CP so it is successful but when i open my profile it show error and not working video.

Ok, this mod "kind of" is working...

For attached MPG files it's still not using mediaplayer, and is trying to download a plugin (quicktime).

Any way on changing this?

Could you do an update where the text "click here to watch the video" is all together on the same line? Also - auto play when they click the thumbnail doesn't work. I have it turned on, yet you still have to click the > Play button to load it.
