View Full Version : Flashchat: Who is chatting

Note: The 3.8 release can be found here (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=196466).

vBulletin 3.7 Version
Please remember to click Mark as Installed if you use this modification.
Support questions from members who have not marked this as installed will be considered low priority.

This is a simple display of who is currently chatting in FlashChat - on the forum homepage display.

Note: Version 3.7.003 and above are for Flashchat 5.0.x onwards, and will not work with Flashchat 4.x.x. Version 3.7.002 will currently continue to be available for Flashchat 4.

The main features of the 3.7 version are ;

1. It displays the list on Forum Home with the "Users online" display.
2. The list view is collapsable, so you see just the number.
3. Users who should display as coloured or bold etc are displayed correctly (based on the display usergroup)
4. If you 'hover' over a username it will show the room they are chatting in and their status (away etc).
5. If the chat is empty, a simple "no one is chatting" message is displayed.
6. The hack is phrased.
7. The ability to turn it on/off is in the ACP Options.
8. The ability to allow only certain usergroups to view the list is an ACP option (include or exclude groups).
9. The location of the Flashchat folder is an ACP option
10. The option to record and display the Most Ever chatters can be enabled.

(Options are located in vBulletin Options > Who Is Using Flashchat).

Unzip the XML and import into vB using the ACP Product Manager.

Note: This hack cannot display any bots in the chat, due to the strange way that Flashchat stores this information.

Please also note that I have no connection with the Flashchat (http://www.tufat.com/s_flash_chat_chatroom.htm) product - if you have questions about Flashchat functionality then their forums are located here (http://www.tufat.com/phpBB2/index.php).

History:

v3.7.001 : First vb 3.7 release.
v3.7.002 : Updated to remove potential $group variable name clash. Not compatible with Flashchat 5.
v3.7.003 : First version for Flashchat 5.0.x. ATCS options removed. Not compatible with Flashchat 4.
v3.7.004 : Fix Most Ever Display Bug.

I've tried to install several of these who is chatting modules and products and I get an error:

1. The product paulm_wic_37 must be installed before this product may be installed. (Compatible starting with 3.7.001 / Incompatible with 3.7.999 and greater)

Any Suggestions?

--- Update - Nevermind, had to allow overwrite. Installed, Thanks!

Well I ended up using the addon to this which allows me to now see the box. Although I'm still not seeing any user info in it. It's a blank box and I'm not sure if I should ask in this thread or in the addon thread regarding this issue.

The Who Is Chatting (add on) by mosh.

I couldn't see the the box or anything when I used your mod but since I wanted the extra advantage of his mod I went ahead and added his too. When I did I was able to to see the box for who is chatting although the box is empty. I hope I'm not confusing you more but would like to get this sorted if possible. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ok Paul I'm back, I still can't get this hack to work on my site.

Mosh was awesome enough to take a look and even created a test template and still no luck. I have 3 skins currently including VB's and in all the skins I can't even see the box. The test template that Mosh created is the only one that I'm able to see the actual box but there is still no information within it. I can forward you the pm between Mosh and I and see if there's anything else you might be able to get me to try. I'd really like to get this one working.

I cant really help you unless you give me admin access to your forum.

yaoren
29 Apr 2008, 14:35
Paul I'll send you the pm which has admin access since Mosh was trying to get it to work for me. It'll also have an explanation of what he's done. Hope you'll be able to help me out :)

*Edit* Also, I thought I'd mention that I just upgraded from 3.7.0 RC4 to 3.7.0 Gold and still not able to view it in any style.

Display_Chatters template.

I have a navigation tabs in my navbar. One is for chat. I would like to display on this tab, how many members are in chat.

I tried this:

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

The conditional is added, so that it will not display if there are no chatters. I know this is likely not the best way to do it.

Anyway, the code $totalchatters does work on many pages, but not on blog.php, group.php and pages of various add ons.

Do you have any tips for what code to use?

Is there anyway to only display who is chatting on the main chat room? I've created a private chat room and I don't want any registered users to see who's in there, but they can see who's in the main one.

Thanks

Installed it, works great. One question/request:

Where it says "Members currently using Flashchat:" at the bottom, I want to have the word "Flashchat" in that sentence be a clickable link that takes you to the Flashchat itself.

A little help here about what to do?

It's not the best method but it works for now. I still have a buggy install of 5.0.3 but at least its integrated and showing on the forums.

If you have VBA CMPS let me know and I can tell you what I did to make that work too.

You have asked multiple questions. The colour of Flashchat is set in flashchat itself, so you need to ask on their forum. Its location is determined by your vb templates, you edit them to suit, same goes for the size.

Go back to v3.7.003 of this hack, as my hack takes into account the Most Ever Display Bug, and it works to fix it.

As my v3.7.x hack is no longer supported, I will not be updating the hack to reflect the changes Paul has put into v3.7.004 of this hack.

Once you reinstall v3.7.003 of this and then install my hack (following my instructions), then the max count option will work again.

I had this mod working perfectly UNTIL I decided to switch my FC to use php_sockets (on my own dedicated server). Performance with sockets is much better, but it seems to have broken the "who's chatting" mod as well as auto-login.

Can this mod work with sockets? If not, is there another version of "who's chatting" from someone else that does?

Thanks!

Paul M
18 Dec 2008, 23:54
Flashchats socket mode does not support integration at all.
