Thank for your help proposal.
However someone has already offered me his help for the spanish translation.
Next release is indeed due soon, you can see it working on my forum : www.forumcoding.com (http://www.forumcoding.com) (beta test phase).

When I collapse the chatbox, i can't see the shouts any more (on your forum, vBDev ;))

Does the post action box on the right of the chats box belong to MGC Chatbox (at forumcoding)? If you collapse the chatbox, those actions are not hidden (IE7).

I am currently using my own Shoutbox (code based on an oooooooooooold shoutbox for vb 3.5 with severals improvements) but i may consider switching to MGC Chatbox Evo one day :)
Some requests tho' :
- About dating : an option using the vB "Yesterday" date format would be cool, instead of displaying always a date. Another option to disable date display (only displaying hours:minutes) for the chats of the day would help making display clearer.
- About defaut channel : would be nice to have more flexibility in there. E.G. when Chatbox is displayed on some pages, it displays Chan 1 as the default one. But on another it can display Chan 2 (or whatever) by default.
- About channels display : what about a mode "display all at once" (with permission checking of course) that would display all chats from all channels but with a different color for each channel. Messy for chatboxes with heavy activity but helpfull for chatboxes with low activity.

Yes it's a new feature. I will add other actions in later chatbox versions (we could imagine having arcade actions, and so on ;)).

Seems like perhaps there is a bug in the sql retrieval query, I'll look into it.
About the copyright free, I perhaps will release a branding free version (non free one). The add of this copyright is, as you might imagine, to state whom work it is (as every copyright is ;)).

It's possible to hide the date from the chatbox (as well as the time but less usefull lol).

It's an intersting idea. How do you see this handled ?
Adding in the channel definition the THIS_SCRIPT var content for example as for the show on defined pages option.

I don't see how this mod would be handled. Like a button you push to set the chatbox in display all at once mode ?
I think I meant the same as entertain. If you are viewing your forum as a guest and you click the collapse icon, the chats (messages the users have posted in the chatbox) disappear, but the new feature is still visible. It still shows user x replied to thread y, etc.

Yes I know that ;) But I won't use that option as I want it to be separated from default vBoptions, as the date formats are.

The number of user shouldn't make it lag. It's not dependent of number of users online.
But rather to refresh rate.

I have a porblema, introducing characters like ñ or Lestra accented à è ì ò ù chat does not answer me, it is like frozen, which may be due to this?

No we weren't talking about the same thing.
It's not possible to make it match the menu in the post creation as these are wysiwyg things being part of vB js stuff. And I am not allowed to copy paste their code on those parts you now (copyright issues).

Would it be possible/do you know where to edit the height of the [Fonts] drop down menu instead perhaps? Just to give it the same height as the font-height and font-color menu?
Also, do you perhaps know how to get rid of both the left and right bracket around [Fonts]?
I've been looking in both the templates and phrases, but I seem to be overlooking them.

I have gone through the instructions in the install but, I don't see the chatbox anywhere on my site... I have a custom style but, I also did the instructions for that section as well... I even changed it back to the default style and still don't see it. Any ideas?

Check your user group permissions...
You have to define user groups, that able to view/use Chatbox.
As far as I remember, permissions are not predefined by installation.

LOL I just figured that out... One more question I have it embedded on forum home but, it increases the size of my page (width) too much. I have set a 200px size on it but, it doesn't seem to help... Any other ideas?

Last question... to the far left of each message is the word submit Query. How can I change that to an image instead of just the word...?
It's normally not a word. Can you please make a screenshot ?

It's seems like the menu_open.gif gif is missing in your forum style
You have to add the vB default image or make a copy of the one used on your forum and rename that copy to menu_open.gif.

Look at the chatbox, right click above "Submit Query" and then click at properties.
Then at Image properties there you get the image address.
So check if you have the image in that address, if not, upload it there.

Not logged in, I noticed up in the top left the paths are wrong for the avatar. Since it's an unregistered account, it has no avatar. You didn't specify the correct path for that. hey i was wondering how you would import a new language to the chat box. i have tried using the vbulletin languages and phrases but i get this message
The file you attempted to import only contains phrases and none of the settings required. You will be unable to make a new language with this file.

What version chat is this? Was the install an upgrade or new install? What version forums are you using?
Right from the readme included in the zip:
4/ Go in your admincp, in the Language manager > Download/Upload language file and then :
- Select the language file from the "Lang" directory
- Select the forum language to overwrite
- Set the ignore language verison to Yes
- Launch upload

After the install all it does is say "Loading" on the chat box and it's also not in English. I installed the English language file. However, in my admincp some of the options are in a different language and the chat box language is not English?
Any help would be appreciated?

Hehe.... It won't display because you didn't edit usergroups. You didn't read the readme fully. Loading issue how to fix is in the readme as well. Did you add the var security edit? ;) Did you upload all the files and into the correct locations? ie: drag/drop full contents.
As for the english language, you didn't import the english language file, or you didn't read the readme and select the options it says. Or you didn't refresh the admincp after.

Hehe, if adding the security token doesn't fix. Remove it. ;) And yes, it runs on every version. ;)
I gotta hit the search button (hint) to find the answer. I posted the mod security answer a few times, but I can't remember the edit. Gimme a min and I'll find it and post. Apply the mod security edit I reply with, if it doesn't work, re-add the var security edit.

I added the above code the .htaccess located in my forum root. I also tried the var string both ways. I tried it with it in the file and tried it removed from the file in conjuction with the mod security fix. No luck in either combination. Still just says "Loading...."
I guess it just won't work over my vB version and my server backend.

Pfft. The hell it won't. ;) Welcome to the world of servers. Nothing is ever a quick fix. You could easily have overlooked something, edited a wrong file etc.
If you want, PM me a temp admin account, and FTP account and I can see if I can get it fixed quick.

USERGROUPS can be assigned that permission. It would be a very unintelligent move to base this off a user level and not a USERGROUP.

Goto the commands options in MGC and set it.
Hi I've got a bit of a problem!
A User of my forum has ignored himself, I thought he was messing around as I assumed you couldn't ignore yourself so tried it and yes it's possible! :)
Would it be possible to stop users being able to ignore themselves in a future release please?

I've just installed the update for this on 3.7.4, but chats are not working at all. I just have a blank chat box, no matter what I try to do.
Which version where you previously using ?
If it was an update, did you refresh your browser cache after install ?

I got it to open with another program. When it unzipped the archive was called 'release' instead of [3.6.x-3.7.x.........]MGC..... which is weird.

You were using the vBCms addon for the chatbox ?
If yes, I think it perhaps need to be updated, you should ask its author of the addon in that case.

Yes i have the addon for Chatbox. Chatbox 1.1.0 have good funktion on my Portal Chatbox 2.0.2 not.
The js codes have changed so perhaps the addon is not compatible.

I went to the Manage Products and I only see one product ... MGC chatbox Evo

No no you have to uninstall the two chatbox products that you certainly have (hum perhpas in the 0.1.1 version there wasn't two versions if so then you just have to remove one).

I've deleted the cache, and tested on firefox and internet explorer, dosen't work on both.

I've only had a very quick look but is it possible to stop it posting threads from a certain forum or user?
I only ask as I have a couple of RSS feeds active and don't want the posts to show up in the chatbox.

I have refreshed the browser cache. I just installed 2.02, and now, all I see is "loading" and when I try to post a message in chat, I get this following error:
"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.

I have previously been running v1.1 and it was awesome. Took me some time to get past the "Loading" issues but I finally got it.
Of course now that I have installed the new version I get the infinite "Loading" issue once again. I have tried all the old "hacks" and tricks that I used to get it working on v1.1 but I still can't get it past "Loading" on the new version. I have kept my modded .htaccess file for the mod_security fix, I have added the var SECURITYTOKEN = 0 to my .js files, and deleted the customavatar.height_thumb etc etc strings from the PHP files. Nothing working yet. :(
I am running vb 3.6.6 just for reference. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

One more silly question for you:
As far as I noticed there is a confusion with labels of the channels.
I have 3 channels.
1- General 2 - Specific Group 3 - Team
When I click Specific Group, channel displayed correctly but the Title says Team Channel !
And for team channel vice versa.

I am having the EXACT same problem as Hidden_Gamma.
It displays "Loading...", if you try shout something, it gives the security token message.

Yeah I'm having mad issues with the new version. First off my archives are not showing up as well, just as described by Brood. I'm using FF 3.0.5, here is what the archives look like. Also I have my archives set to display 100 chats per page which works fine in the 1.1.0 version but not 2.2.0, in 2.2.0 it only shows like 10 or 20.

Becareful in the new version of the chatbox now archives only shows chats from last 24 hours then you have to use the select box to view more chats.

Negative, no template edits on anything. It looks like the new version is ignoring my "Second Alternating Color (Customized in this Style)" that is listed under "All Style Options" in my Style Manager. For example, right now using the 1.1.0 version if I go into my forum style directory and delete the file "alt2_bg.gif" which is the file that is listed as my "Second Alternating Color" then my 1.1.0 ChatBox will look like it does in the 2.2.0 version. So something in the 2.2.0 version is causing it to NOT load that CSS option or something.
When you say "use select box to view more chats" what option are you talking about? I don't have any archive pages like I used to which can be seen in the pics I posted.
For the new version to take the second alternating color into account, you need to activate the option which I think you did ?
The option I am talking about for the select box is a new dropdown menu on the left in the archives.

Why did you take away the smilies and formatting buttons on the chatbox? My users use that pretty extensively.
Also....after installing this, my chatbox shows all of the correct history, but when I go into the archives there are only a few lines there and none of the full history.
Marked as uninstalled. You can write me off. There's too many other free chatboxes out there that don't require advertising.

*EDIT* I found the culprit! In usergroup manager the smilies and bbcode selections were defaulted to "no".

OK I enabled that and now it's working perfect. I also figured out that since I had edited the archives template in the old version that when I upgraded it did not overwrite the new template. I reverted the template and now I see the drop down box that you were talking about. Thanks!

They are still there but you have to ENABLE the options for each usergroup. Goto "UserGroup Manager > Registered Users > MGC Chatbox Evo : Custom permissions > and then you will see the two options that say...

I must admit that MGC is a hard worker and does stand by his mod! Guy is a hell of a person to deal with all the hassle. But on the flip side I have noticed more donations for this mod than damn near any other mod that I have seen. Personally I am a little disappointed in the new branding that is below the chatbox. I have had quite a few offers from local motorsports shops that want to advertise for cash but I won't do it because I just don't like looking at all that garbage, I don't think anyone else does either . Especially people that get on the forum on a daily basis, it just becomes a nuisance to look at. The branding in the ARCHIVES is fine with me but the one under the chatbox looks just a little tacky IMO. Honestly I think the one under the chatbox should have been used for some kinda announcement feature or something :D

You have certainly an older version of vB (prior to 3.6.10), check the readme file for explanation.

It's because now archives are limited by date (showing 1 day archives by default) but then you have a dropdown to select to see more.
If you don't see that dropdown it's because you haven't reverted all your chatboxes templates.

I think you have not followed the correct instructions.
Seems like you are still having the old version of the php files from the 0.1.1 version of the chatbox. Hit me up on my new forum in the chatbox.

About the donations, there are not so much you know compared to all the hours of coding spent on the chatbox you know.
I have always tried to make the chatbox better and better for you users and I didn't thought a simple copyright would make such non sense to all of you...

It's cool man don't get all worked up, I wasn't trying to imply that you have received millions of dollars in donations and that should be enough, I was simply stating that compared to other mods people love this one and it's obvious that people appreciate your hard work hence all the donations compared to other mods. Being a fellow software dev I speak from experience when I say "WRITING CODE SUCKS!" and I understand where your coming from. Trust me, if your branding bothered me that much I would just remove it. You did a good job encoding it but it wasn't that hard to find ;)

If you are getting security token issues with your chatbox version, check that you have uploaded all the files and refresh your browser cache.
Up to you... Bitwise it's not advertising it's just copyright for long hours of work...
vBulletin has a copyright at the bottom, do you remove it ? I don't think so...

But maybe it has something to do with that, that a few users reportet, having to reload the page, before they are able to see their own shouts or the shouts of an other person. ;)

If it's too much of a hassle for you I'm sure you can use Inferno vBShout lite - last update May 13th
or Cyb Chatbox - last update Sept 22nd, cChatbox last updated Aug 28th, vBulletin 3.x Shoutbox 1.0 - last update June 19th, Dream's Chatbox - last update Oct 10th, or GSBOS - last update oct 1st. Or deal with a lil copyright and have a developer that is constantly making upgrades, helping users, developing add-ons and so forth.....(well guess you could try to write your own!)
After all, you get what you pay for :)
If it's too much of a hassle for you I'm sure you can use......
I believe I already stated that I'd continue to use the previous version.

Alright found a couple more issues with the "Archives".
First when I do a search in the archives say for example I search for the word "Hello", well if the results return more than one page of results and I try to click on another page, it returns the error of "That user doesn't exist!" I think you have not followed the correct instructions.
Seems like you are still having the old version of the php files from the 0.1.1 version of the chatbox. Hit me up on my new forum in the chatbox.
Well I had version 0.1.2. What I did was uninstall the old version as requested in the upgrade readme info since I had a version prior to 1.0 and I also removed all files before uploading the new ones and then install the new product.

Well the fact that it doesn't work locally is possible because the js files from yui re retrieved online and perhaps your firewall blocks that.
As I do know you I can install it for you on your forum as a gift to an old client ;)

WOW your right. I switched back to 1.1.0 and I can tell how slow it loads when going into the archives compared to 2.0.2. I don't know why it would be so slow considering I only have 215,549 chats in my DB LOL :D

After double checking, a lot of new the features are still in French, regardless of the english.xml file. VBDev, possible this can be updated? Would be much appreciated.
The english language files is uptodate.
I think it's a problem of language file import. did you import it correctly after install ?
Coz all language is ok on my side.
When I downloaded the file from forum coding it updated the language but the file from here didn't.

When I am not in full chat box view, the older posts in the chat seem to disappear. When I am in full chat box view, the older posts are there.

So a select all tick PER ARCHIVE page would be great. That way you could tick like all the shouts on a certain page and then delete all the shouts on that page. :up:

Thanks guys :up: . Both modifications work like a charm.
It's because now archives are limited by date (showing 1 day archives by default) but then you have a dropdown to select to see more.
If you don't see that dropdown it's because you haven't reverted all your chatboxes templates.
In which case, I have found a bug. When you select "the beginning" in the drop down, it still only shows today. When I select 120 days, I do indeed get all my history.
Why are the counts wrong also? I have users that have posted hundreds of times and only show about 75 or 80 posts.
PS...like the new version, great job.

Well, where is "mgc_cb_evo.js" file located? I cannot find it. In "clienscript", I only see these:
mgc_cb_evo_functions.js
mgc_cb_evo_header.js
mgc_cb_evo_static.js
So, do you mean to edit all three files? Because, in the instructions, it's not that clear.
One more suggestion: For PC users, your packages are hard to follow because of all these MAC files... This is very annoying (Just a personal remark from myself, maybe it does not bother other people at all).

THANKS to "pedroenf" for posting those fixes up, I was able to switch back to 2.0.2 because of those fixes.
For anyone who is intrested, I bypassed the drop down box in the archives so that now all the archive pages just show up by default like they did in the last version. That way people can get into their archives until VBDev gets it handled.

For those who downloaded the previous zip file there was a small bug in the javascript for vB3.6 versions.
Please upload this new javascript file in the clientscript/mgc_cb_evo directory.
Also, was this already corrected in the branding free version on your forum?

One little glitch though. The "Whos online in the chatbox" doesn't work.
I have deleted all files and reinstalled. Still no joy. Anyone have an idea?

You don't upload that folder, you upload the contents inside it, so it's not an issue.

I have gone to the ADMINCP, Usergroups, Usergroup Manager, Administrators, MGC Chatbox Evo : Custom permissions, and have all but one checked YES.
But still no joy.

I just checked to see if my "Who is in the chatbox display" was working and mine is working fine as well. Might wanna just make sure you uploaded everything. The who is in the chatbox display will show up under the chatbox just so you know.
Go to Admin CP ==> Style & Templates ==> Search in Templates.
Search: chats_remove (in mgc_cb_evo_archives)

In which case, I have found a bug. When you select "the beginning" in the drop down, it still only shows today. When I select 120 days, I do indeed get all my history.
Why are the counts wrong also? I have users that have posted hundreds of times and only show about 75 or 80 posts.
PS...like the new version, great job.
IT's a known bug I'll have to fix.

You know people likes to get things for free and if no copyright was there they would just love that ...
What they don't see is the time you spent on developping the software ... And that somehow you could ask for a little recognition by accepting the copyright...

however, many users are reporting AJAX errors on Opera and Chrome.

Oh alright cool, I actually don't use that option I was just checking to see if it was working or not since Harley D was saying that it wasn't working on his end. :)

The package contains the BF version of the chatbox as well as buttons packs.
