That's odd ! I tested in Opera and it works perfectly.

This Chatbox uses 1/4 of the resources of the other popular chatbox. I had the other one installed, and many people complained of how slow it was. When I installed this one, they immediately noticed the difference. I have 20 people at a time chatting with no problems.

What a dumb comment... Maybe because other mods aren't near as complex as this mod is either. This is BY FAR the best effin chatbox out there IMO! I have used at least 4 other chatboxes in the last 3 years and all of them were WEAKSAUSE compared to MGC EVO! Also VBDev is one of the best developers who has stood by his mod who is constantly on here helping everyone with their issues. Just look thru this entire thread and you can clearly see almost everyone one of VBDev's posts also always filled with 5 or 6 quotes answering everyones questions and trying to fix everyones issues...

I challenge you to find another chatbox for vb that has as many features as MGC and a developer that stands by his mod as good as VBDev does....

I installed the chatbox 2 weeks ago and it was perfect. Yesterday I updated and first it didn' t work at all.
Box appeared, but it was loading...loading.....and it wasn't possible to write.

Now it works, but only this way:

I opened "Chatbox display on forumhome" and replaced this tag:
$find_text = '$forumhome_markread_script';

with this one:
$find_text = '$$chatbox_forumhome';

It's only working with 2 $ and only in forumhome, not on other sites.

(It is not the same like this in the forums root)

Any tester would have a limited patience in trying things out... and that makes me a frustrated person.
I am using this chat box since version 0.4, then upgraded to 0.7x, then to version 1.0 and finally now at version 2.2.1
All versions except the last one worked without any problem for me and now I am wondering why I have upgraded from version1 to version2, just to have more headaches?
I am struggling with version 2 from more than two weeks and perhaps you understand why my patience is at its limits.

1. I have the well known "Loading..." message that apparently tons of other users have it and so far, none got a straight answer to the problem other than to refresh the cache...
If I refresh the screen few times, eventually it will display. It is inconsistent. For that reason, nobody is posting anymore in my forum.
Why the previous versions would work and not this one? Isn't that obviously a problem with this "Loading..." message? How I could call it an "evolving software" (as per your words) when in fact, beside few more options, overall it works worse than previous versions?
I run vB 3.8.1, I know to refresh my cache, using few browsers on different platforms.
I follow info to the letter, I verified myself few times, I have a clean forum with few hacks installed that is running smoothly with no errors (except the ChatBox).
I tried to install it few times, the same result.

Do you have a real solution for "Loading"? What should I do? Should I downgrade to version 1.0? Do I need to take any special measures if I want to downgrade?

Yes.. im looking to for the beste Version from the 1,xxx to !!!

The Version 2 , xxx is to slow and to Big. It's not realy a small Chatbox. It's a elephant :(

a plugin add mootools before the href to the yahoo yui.. and so there where some components that make the chat unavaible!!

VB, I apologize if I offended you. I am just frustrated because I never had such a problem. As I mentioned, I used your product previously with no problem and had been very happy about it.

I read all pages and I found at least 10 posts stating the same problem. Then I wanted to register to http://www.forumcoding.com/ and was not accessible this morning. I have this problem from about two weeks and I tried everything.

I noticed that when I post a chat, it does not appear, if I try again it tells me "a chat in progress" but if I try to post again after 10 minutes or so, it displays both chats, so it is inconsistent.

They all mean, to slow, to big and full of Bugs.

The best testet Version is 1.5 here (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=148472).
Runs on 3.8 xxx easy an fast. And displayed in online.php an other sides. Simply, the best one ;)

That I think is addded up top (go look), or it's part of the branded free option. But let VBDev verify. He's looking at adding it to the side. But you gotta give him time to reply bro. Not only does he make/support multiple products and support them well, but he's also got a life too.

I've been using this product since he released it (before the EVO one) and if you read through the pages of posts, results happen. But you can't expect results from a post like yours. "It stopped working" helps zilch bro. Did you get any errors? If you start up firefox error console, do you see any? Does it not work for just a few, etc etc? See what I mean.

You are comparing something that's been out for how long, through how many revisions to a totally new re-coded chat? He recoded this from the ground up, give it time. Nothing is bug free. I've been on 2.10 and I've stayed there for a reason. I've learned from being a Network Admin, you don't install the latest until it's been tested and out for a while. I'd revert to 2.0.2 or 2.1.0 before 1.5.

By people reporting bugs/issues, gets results. Do you think builds before 1.5 were stable and fast? ;)

Not sure why, but for some reason the down arrow for the Actions Menu, that was previously appearing to the left of each username in the chatbox has now disappeared.

I've verified permissions, and even my administrator account can't see it. Everything else works fine, and commands can be carried via typing them (/slap, /pm, /ban, etc), but that handy Actions menu has gone. Not even a box with a red cross... just nothing at all.
Any ideas?

Is it possible to display the chatbox in custom possitions then just the default above and below? Is there some code I could paste in where I want to display?

For exp: I like the option of displaying on forum home below but not exactly where the default position is, i want it a bit lower because it slightly make my template look broken as is. Where can I find that code to move it a little but still be able to control it?

You can do that by using the "style issue fix" explained in the readme.

Even if you don't have style issue this will let you add it wherever you want.

That's strange, coz currently I went on your website and chatbox runs smoothly, chats are refreshed and sent without any issue in Firefox.

Yes and the issue doesn't come from the chatbox. Other ajax functionnalities are touched.

We were having this problem on forumcoding and were forced to deactivate zlib due to that ... But no answer from Jelsoft team :(

Is there a post on VB.com about this? If so I'll bump it. You can PM me link if you rather. I've noticed that 2.1.0 and 3.8 RC4 have been fine. I haven't gone to 3.8 final yet, or 3.8.1 but at least we know it's not the chatbox.

Anything that can be tried/tested/etc to resolve this? Or it's just wait on Jelsoft to give us the wtf is up?

Hum that strange I am adding to the bug list.

Do you have this problem both in chats at the top and chats at the bottom ?

I found my problem, it was the same as gamespire's, I am using TCattd - The Image Resizer (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=184571&highlight=TCattd+Image+Resizer) it uses mootools.js and slimbox.js. Once I turned that mod off the chat started working in FF and Safari.

It was working when I was using the older version of the shoutbox on my 3.8.1 then I upgraded to the newer version for 3.8.x and it stopped working. I configured it all but it just won't show up on the forum now'

When did it stop working ?

2 days ago, everything was perfect. Yesterday, the down arrow just vanished. The only singular change on the forums between now and then, was I turned on the "Who's Online" function (so it appears beneath the chatbox), and turned off the use of the "Who's Online" button... at the request of my forum members. Other than that, nothing.

A revert back to the Who's Online button, didn't bring the down arrow for the Actions menu back (tried already).

Has the issue with the chats not being aligned in FF 3.0.6 been fixed? Just wondering because I just installed 2.2.1 and my chats are aligned just fine in FF 3.0.6 I'm using vb 3.7.3 so maybe only > 3.8.0 is affected or something???

Also I notice that two tables are missing from the new 2.2.1 version

You can do that by using the "style issue fix" explained in the readme.

Thank you, I was able to make the changes but then I ran into another problem. Is there anyway to actually edit the chatbox template itself? I noticed where ever i insert the $chatbox_forumhome code, it automatically makes a space after even if there is no in the template I paste it into. Also, I wanted to add it into a table but it removes the table class for all the other items in that table. So I would want to remove table class close in the chatbox template itself.

So basically, where can I find the full code for what this equalls to = $chatbox_forumhome ?

Hello VBDev,

Thank you for looking into this issue. The ChatBox appears to work fine but I would estimate only in about 60% of cases. So here it goes:
- Tested in IE, FF and Safari on Windows and OSX platforms. It seems that it is not related to browsers. I use FF most but in my opinion, the ChatBox should be made to work best in IE. Over 70% of worldwide internet users are using IE.

- I open the forum home in ten pages and in about six of these pages, the ChatBox content will appear fine. In the rest of them (about 40%) the ChatBox would stay at "Loading..." state.

- In some cases when the ChatBox appears correct, when you type something in the ChatBox, the chat would not be displayed.

- I have also noticed that if one browser display I would post a chat, in some cases, on the other pages, that chat would not appear, like it does not refreshes automatically. If I do a browser refresh, it will either display the chat, or it will stay on "Loading...".

- As I wrote before, it seems that it is not stable. From the many tests I've done, it appears that in about 60% cases it will work, and 40% not.
Since I have few skins installed, I have tried this multiple times under different skins.
In one point, I've disabled most of the plugins, leaving the ChatBox to see if there is some kind of conflict with any of the plugins. Unfortunately, it was the same (random display of "Loading").

- Again, when I used to have VB 3.7.3 with ChatBox v.1, everything was working just fine, I was very happy about it. Before upgrading to 3.8.1, I have removed completely the ChatBox and its files and then I've started fresh with v.2.2 and then 2.2.1 and have this problem of "Loading..." being displayed randomly.

- Would be this issue because of the new VB version or due to the new version in ChatBox? I have no clue what to do next and honestly, I would return to version 1, if I would be sure that it will work fine under 3.8.1. Would that be feasible?

I noticed that on the product page there is a link to the CMPS module. But when you got there, on the module page, it is stated to work only with version 1. Will that module be updated? If not, I see no point to be linked to it.

VBDEV, I just updated and wanted to approve a thread that was put in to moderation. When I attempted to do so, I got this error:

1. Is there any simple way to replace the Yahoo CSS so that you can read the error messages?

2. I am having a hard time understanding how to slap or use other "/" enabled keys. can you please provide a text example?

3. Is there an easy way to replace the "Boing" sound with something a little less irritating?

4. I love this mod... it is by far one of the best I have seen. Thanks a million, I will donate soon.

#3 is easy. put the sound you want in place of the boing, and simple rename it to the default sound. ;)

#2, Make sure you enabled the commands. It's like the 1st or 2nd option for MGC in the admin cp

#1, Use Firefox and open the error console.

Command /slapThis command lets you slap another user. To slap another user, you just have to use either the menu available on the left of the message or by using one of the following syntaxes:
/slap uid userid : Slap the user whom userid is passed as command parameter.
/slap uname username : Slap the user whom username is passed as command parameter.

If you don't see that in the help icon it's not enabled. It should also be available in the drop down list next to each name. And if not, again, it's not enabled, or you didn't set permissions for usergroup. ;)

I have two problems. In my chat box, were you type in what you want to say. It's all in a different language. I can't figure out how to change that. Any ideas? And when I slap someone it says The user you are trying to slap doesn't exist

EDIT: I GOT THE SLAP TO WORK BUT AFTER I PUT THE COMMAND IN IT SHOWS EVERYTHING IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE

Read the install file again. You didn't change the default language, or you didn't change the default prompt. Default prompt is in french. YOU have to change it to whatever you want if you enable it. It's in the MGC settings.....one of those categories........ near bottom.

Same with slap. Search this thread for "translation" or "french" and it should show a post from VBDev and from me with the answers. I'm not searching 260 threads. ;)

Ok, I noticed 2 problems im having so far with the chat.

1. When I post a chat, it goes at the bottom of all the chats eventhough I said it to show newest first. I have to reload the entire page for it to show on top as it should.

2. When clicking the send button or just pressing enter with empty chatbox, it gives some error pop-up message, (Doesnt say anything, just a white pop-up).(Anyway to make it say something or remove it completely)

EDIT:

Ok problem 1 seems to be solved when I removed a sticky post(which didn't really sticky anyway)

Another problem I noticed that it sometimes just shows the refresh animation icon and doesnt refresh to anything.

I changed a setting a while back to hide the chatbox, only now that I want to use it again I cannot seem to edit it back. This effects all of the styles I have (including default), and I have tried a reinstall. Any ideas? (What settings could be disabling the chatbox? I've looked at usergroup permissions, plugin hooks, mgc settings, the suggested template / plugin hook edits, etc...)

Safari-problem still exist:
I just reinstalled your mod. Replaced all files with the new ones. Reimported Language and Product and cleaned my cache (even tried another newly reinstalled Mac).

But the problem is still there. Safari shows ONE old chat-line, as the first line, screenshot:

Hum, that's odd. I'll give it a look then. I am adding this to the bug list.

I found my problem, it was the same as gamespire's, I am using TCattd - The Image Resizer (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=184571&highlight=TCattd+Image+Resizer) it uses mootools.js and slimbox.js. Once I turned that mod off the chat started working in FF and Safari.

2 days ago, everything was perfect. Yesterday, the down arrow just vanished. The only singular change on the forums between now and then, was I turned on the "Who's Online" function (so it appears beneath the chatbox), and turned off the use of the "Who's Online" button... at the request of my forum members. Other than that, nothing.

A revert back to the Who's Online button, didn't bring the down arrow for the Actions menu back (tried already).

Well there is no reason why the down arrow wouldn't show or would dissapear magically.

Are you sure they haven't been any other change to your forum since then ?

It was working when I was using the older version of the shoutbox on my 3.8.1 then I upgraded to the newer version for 3.8.x and it stopped working. I configured it all but it just won't show up on the forum now'

Thank you, I was able to make the changes but then I ran into another problem. Is there anyway to actually edit the chatbox template itself? I noticed where ever i insert the $chatbox_forumhome code, it automatically makes a space after even if there is no in the template I paste it into. Also, I wanted to add it into a table but it removes the table class for all the other items in that table. So I would want to remove table class close in the chatbox template itself.

So basically, where can I find the full code for what this equalls to = $chatbox_forumhome ?

- Tested in IE, FF and Safari on Windows and OSX platforms. It seems that it is not related to browsers. I use FF most but in my opinion, the ChatBox should be made to work best in IE. Over 70% of worldwide internet users are using IE.

Well as I am not a PC user I make my best to make it works with IE but it's not handy to use a virtualizer to run windows on the Mac.

- I open the forum home in ten pages and in about six of these pages, the ChatBox content will appear fine. In the rest of them (about 40%) the ChatBox would stay at "Loading..." state.

- In some cases when the ChatBox appears correct, when you type something in the ChatBox, the chat would not be displayed.

Well that's strange.

- I have also noticed that if one browser display I would post a chat, in some cases, on the other pages, that chat would not appear, like it does not refreshes automatically. If I do a browser refresh, it will either display the chat, or it will stay on "Loading...".

When so were you having issues reported in javascript console ?

- As I wrote before, it seems that it is not stable. From the many tests I've done, it appears that in about 60% cases it will work, and 40% not.
Since I have few skins installed, I have tried this multiple times under different skins.
In one point, I've disabled most of the plugins, leaving the ChatBox to see if there is some kind of conflict with any of the plugins. Unfortunately, it was the same (random display of "Loading").

- Again, when I used to have VB 3.7.3 with ChatBox v.1, everything was working just fine, I was very happy about it. Before upgrading to 3.8.1, I have removed completely the ChatBox and its files and then I've started fresh with v.2.2 and then 2.2.1 and have this problem of "Loading..." being displayed randomly.

Do you have zlib installed on your server ?

Because it seems that the 3.8.1 has some bad issues with zlib (we experienced it on forumcoding).

This issues were making the whole ajax functionnalities not working (like quick reply leading to a full post and page refresh instead of only loading of the new chat).

The chatbox is affected by this issue and I thus have to look into it.

- Would be this issue because of the new VB version or due to the new version in ChatBox? I have no clue what to do next and honestly, I would return to version 1, if I would be sure that it will work fine under 3.8.1. Would that be feasible?

You can do that by editing the color array in the functions_mgc_cb_evo.php file :)

I noticed that on the product page there is a link to the CMPS module. But when you got there, on the module page, it is stated to work only with version 1. Will that module be updated? If not, I see no point to be linked to it.

I have read almost all thread to find a fix for my problem. I have posted before and hopefully the coder will help me out...

I installed first time the ChatBox and worked fine (damn me, I should of leave it like that!) but added CMPS module that did not worked for me. I have uninstalled it (both the module and ChatBox) and completly removing absolutely all files. I started fresh, fixed the permissions in the Usergroups, settings, etc. and when I try to post something I get a page with:
"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.
If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error."

- I have uninstalled it, removed all files, made sure there is nothing in templates.
- I have reloaded all files, installed the product, fixed the permissions (all other settings as default) and still the same message.
- I have optimized/fixed the db, ran the maintenance with most activities there, clean the browser cache (I've tried it on two different computers and three browsers.
- I have re-uploaded the ChatBox files, installed it as an upgrade, fixed the permissions, and i still get this message:
"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.
If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error."

Also, when I click on smilies link, the page moves down to the ChatBox limit and the link in the browser is: http://www.myforum.com/forum/index.php#mgc_cb_evo_top

Otherwise if using 2.2.1 you shouldn't encounter that issue.

You can't have token errors with vBulletin version 3.8.1 unless you have chatbox templates not reverted.

Yes they have been removed and the install script should have removed them.

If your chatbox doesn't display it might be a style issue or usergroup permissions not set.

In the firefox error console I'm getting a number of errors. If I turn off all plugins errors go away, but if I enable just this plugin the errors come back.

Also, is there any way to change the username color so it shows each username in its respective color according to their user ranks.

Small request: To submit a chat in the main window uses either Enter or Okay as submit. Private Chat requires Okay and will not accept Enter key alone. Would love to see Private chat submission be consistant with standard chat. (Using IE)

when I click on smilies, help, archive, etc I get a page not found. The directory it is trying to access isn't correct. Its going to domain.com/forum/... I need it to not put the "forum" directory there (domain.com/...). When I upgraded to 3.8 I moved it form the forum directory to the public_html directory. It appears to be pulling that from somewhere else however. Any ideas?

Hi, I've been using this since my site was started. It's by far the best chatbox available imho....

Recently updated my Arcade to the latest version along with the latest version of this chat hack. And since then I cannot get the chatbox to display on the Arcade page or any other page except the forum pages. I've followed the instructions over and over with no joy, and like I say I've used this before without any problems at all, it was displaying on the arcade page with no problems.

I've looked through almost this entire thread and I've seen others having similar problems but haven't seen the solution to this yet.

Your help is greatly appreciated and thanks for your fine work :)

Just the one specified, the other chats don't have a username/name column in the database so no issue :)

These are css errors I think ? But not dependent of myself as this the yui internal css code.

Well I think it does as it retrieves username with the fetch_musername function using displaygroup as of where to get the username style.

Small request: To submit a chat in the main window uses either Enter or Okay as submit. Private Chat requires Okay and will not accept Enter key alone. Would love to see Private chat submission be consistant with standard chat. (Using IE)

Nope can't reproduce in current development version.

when I click on smilies, help, archive, etc I get a page not found. The directory it is trying to access isn't correct. Its going to domain.com/forum/... I need it to not put the "forum" directory there (domain.com/...). When I upgraded to 3.8 I moved it form the forum directory to the public_html directory. It appears to be pulling that from somewhere else however. Any ideas?

I think you have not modified the bburl option of your forum when you moved it (it's very bad, you should fix it asap bud :)).

Ive installed this product and everything works fine! However, It takes alittle to load up when I go to the page and or other threads on the site. Is there away to speed this up?

I've installed everything...and the admin cp options are all there but....it's not showing up on my forums at all. I've enabled it.

Hi, I've been using this since my site was started. It's by far the best chatbox available imho....

Recently updated my Arcade to the latest version along with the latest version of this chat hack. And since then I cannot get the chatbox to display on the Arcade page or any other page except the forum pages. I've followed the instructions over and over with no joy, and like I say I've used this before without any problems at all, it was displaying on the arcade page with no problems.

I've looked through almost this entire thread and I've seen others having similar problems but haven't seen the solution to this yet.

Your help is greatly appreciated and thanks for your fine work :)

There are a few option areas that come up blank when I try to manage them in the admincp. They are Manage commands, Manage channels, View logs, Import scripts, Counters update.

Well it's working fine for me. You have uploaded the mgc_cb_evo.php file contained in the admincp directory of the files to upload ?

Is it TTCATD image resizer ? If this is the case, don't use slimbox as image resizing if you have the chatbox installed.

thanks found it after i made the post! but now i think there's is a problem with the AJAX refresh...

for some reason the actual chat stops refreshing... users have to manually hit F5 to refresh chat. You still see AJAX refreshing but the chat never actually scrolls until u collapse chatbox or refresh whole page

Can you check it out? Its really hard to explain what it does....

The only way I can copy a thread or move posts is to go into admin first and turn off the new thread notification in the chatbox.

Channel name can be shown in the chatbox header, there is an option for that.

These are not chatbox issues, the issue might come from your style not being uptodate ?

But you should rather ask that to vB support coz this ain't chatbox issue.

So the problem is actually that the variable $stylevar['imgdir_misc'] is getting URLencoded before vB does whatever replacements it needs to do. Or at least whatever string is including that variable for the image output is getting URLENCODED too soon. Again, I don't know where this is happening, but I'm trying to figure it out.

Ok, I found the exact cause now, it's my custom theme. It has a custom variable called {IF} (Images Folder) which translates to "%7BIF%7D" when it's URLDECODED. So somewhere within this mod I'd guess that it needs to check/process the replacement variables when building the images folder variable ($stylevar['imgdir_misc']). I have no idea where that might be or how to do it though.

I searched this thread and found one other person with the problem, although no solution was posted.

The problem is, somewhere the text "%7BIF%7D" is getting inserted into the image URL paths. I've done some searches and cannot find this text anywhere.

There are issues with vB if you have zlib compression on your website. Do you have that active ?

Well have you even had a look at the uninstall instructions ? You have this issue because you have not removed the files of the chatbox prior to the uninstall ;)

So just remove the chatbox files, especially the one in includes/xml directory, then you should be fixed.

I am trying to set this up with a button on my homepage. Whilst it does actually launch, it doesn't open that cool little window, it opens a full page tab. Please could you tell me if this code is all I need to paste? BTW - the window launches perfectly from the actual chat box.

A few notes:

In IE (7 & 8)
Alternate colors has no effect
The Private Chat popup defaults to Cancel when enter is pressed - which is very confusing.

In all browsers
Activation of the new post warning in the chatbox causes double entries in the Notifications column. The problem didn't appear for a few hours, but now is persistent. New threads notification works fine.
The popups do not use skin colors, and on my skin (and I assume many others) they were unreadable. I discovered that changing the font color on the Page Background works, but since my page background is black is took a lot of tweaking to get a color that looked good on both black, and the white background of the popups.
The blinking or even just the changing of the icon to chatchannelname_new.gif does not work when new messages are sent to non-active channels.

Again, amazing work. Best shoutbox I've ever used.

Well the last remaining bug is a problem on Opera side, it's a browser bug I think, so I haven't found any way to solve that.

No I don't think I'll be adding any other of the listed features in the upcoming version. I just have to add a small tweak to enhance chatbox speed.

But you know I don't just work on the chatbox ;)

OK - I finally figured it out.

When creating a new channel, for instance, the Advice channel, you would refer to the image thus: mgc_cb_evo_advice (where "advice" is your unique file name).

However, you need to create two different versions of your icon, one is sharp (the sel version of the image) and the other is fuzzy (the nosel version).

You will need to name the two images thus:
mgc_cb_evo_advice_sel.gif
mgc_cb_evo_advice_nosel.gif

....then upload those two images to the channels directory.

The mgc_cb_evo prefix is not mandatory at all !!

Oh ok, well what i did was decrease the auto refresh rate to about 7seconds and now the chatbox works way better. I also disabled inactive mode. I believe most of the functions are now working properly!

Channel name can be shown in the chatbox header, there is an option for that.

Is there any way to put a disable sound button next to the refresh button so that users dont have to go to control panel to disable sound. some users never go to control panel because there are so many options, that they get lost.

Any major code changes in the latest version that may cause this?

Display the chats date - YES
Chatbox dates format - d-m-Y
Activate the display of Today/Yesterday in the date for the chatbox - YES
Display the chats time - YES
Chatbox times format - H:i

Number of chats per archives page - 50
Display order of chats in each archives page - Newest messages on top
Archive's date display format - d-m-Y, H:i

Maybee some combination of functions give this problem :) I just see that in archive page I just see TODAY and YESTERDAY messages!? In I turn OFF Activate the display of Today/Yesterday in the date for the chatbox date and time was shown correctly (05-03-2009, 10:54). BUT I notice that here I have one more problem - I see only today and yesterday messages (!?!?) even if I set "Number of days before automatic chats removal - 15"!!! For this options you wrote:

"WARNING : by activating this option, the date and hours format set for the chatbox will be replaced by the forum's default one"

I installed this to mess around. I liked a lot of features but won't switch from Inferno's product just yet. Some thoughts:

Clicking a user's name should open a pm.
Everytime the chat refreshed the input field lost focus.
Take a look at Inferno's constant ajax reloading. It's awesome and has a very IRC-feel.
Why is a channel image required? I'd prefer text.
The option to expand the input field to 100% of available space would be nice.

Well I do not agree with you, in all vB pages, clicking a username would let you go the user member page, this is why I did it for the chatbox.

Take a look at Inferno's constant ajax reloading. It's awesome and has a very IRC-feel.

It's up to you to make it "constant" just a question of refresh time !

Why is a channel image required? I'd prefer text.

If you don't put an image name, the channel title is shown.

The option to expand the input field to 100% of available space would be nice.

Input field size is an option.

1. In archive page I have messages only from today and yesterday (I set in options auto delete for 15 days!!!).... :eek:
2. When is turn ON Activate the display of Today/Yesterday in the date for the chatbox in archive page I not see time! Just Today or Yesterday without any time!
3. If Activate the display of Today/Yesterday in the date for the chatbox is set to NO, then in archive page I CAN SEE date + time correctly!

I hope now you understand me :D

It's up to you to make it "constant" just a question of refresh time !
The difference being if I do that it will refresh whether there is data or not whereas Inferno vbShout will only refresh when there's new data to show.

I tried that but it's not consistent across browsers.
Input field size is an option
Fixed field size is an option. What I'm talking about is having the field take up all available space as a default no matter your resolution. Take a look. (http://www.the-combine.net/vbulletin/index.php)

Installed everything in the download zip, but nothing shows up on the site. I tried to install the 1.0 because I want to upgrade to vbadvanced and that module for chatbox. So neither show up on either versions of my forum. I've checked everything a few times, but I still get nothing.
Did you go into the group permissions and give access to the chatbox to the appropriate groups?

They are turned OFF by default, so no one (not even you) will see them until you turn it on.

You also have to actually install the product and the language...if you didn't do that, it's in the readme.

I uploaded the product and installed the language. Where do I do the group permissions at? When I look at the permissions in the cmps, is shows them as being on, but that's for the vbadvanced and it still doesn't show there. Is there another spot for permissions for my standard vbulletin board?

Yes I will disable YUI so that no Ajax request is performed ... vBulletin ajax is based on yui so answer is NO.

It was direct and my answer was too bud.

Do you ask vB if they are going to work without yui : answer is No.

What the point of removing YUI for you ?

In the next version I have included a feature which ensures that all javascript files are loaded before starting the chatbox so no more issues ;)

it's a question of character encoding, try editing the lang file of the chatbox and put the character encoding that corresponds to chinese.

Then import it again.

Just want to let you know that this chat box doesn't work in Google Chrome. Not sure if this was known, just letting you know. Keeps saying "Loading ..."

It might be due to the javascript not being loaded while DOM's ready.

I have included a feature in the upcoming version (which should be released tomorrow) that ensure all javascripts files are loaded before starting the chatbox.

It might bring a higher loading time for the chatbox but avoid any further issues :)

it's a question of character encoding, try editing the lang file of the chatbox and put the character encoding that corresponds to chinese.

Then import it again.

I don't understand............I have upload as in readme:"Upload the content of the Files folder in your forum root.
Upload the content of the Images in each of your forum styles directories. " And I import just the product-mgc_cb_evo.xml.

Do I have to upload ou import aloso English.xml ? to where exactly, like product-mgc_cb_evo.xml?

I have never a problem of ajax for the moment. Quick reply works well.

I used to use the vBShout v2.0 ChatBox (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93097) that was originally created by ZeroTolerance, which I believe now has been renamed into Inferno vBShout Lite. In any case while these two mods are basically the same, unfortunately there are some differences in the table names thus making it not possible to use the Inferno Import Script to import chats from vBShout inot MGC EVO.

So I reworked the import script a little to allow the importing of vBShout Chats into MGC EVO. Just posting this up for VBDev if you would like to implement this into your next version, or if anyone knows what they are doing they could use this to import also. Just replace the mgc_cb_evo.php file from your admincp folder with the one that I have attached. Then your "Import Scripts" page will show up like this.

Also this mgc_cb_evo.php file is from the current 2.1.0 version.
Both the original, as well your new version is not able to import vbSout.
