Has anyone been working on the attachments hack??? :) :) :D

Hey, I can't think of switching my big board over until I get it so I wanted to see if anyone else was working on it. Okay, so yes, I'm impatient! ;)

I, too, am *very* eager for this hack as well. I have an order in for my new server and am hoping to convert from UBB sometime next week, but I've already decided to wait for the attachment hack first :)

Ed, if you need any help, as far as features and/or testing goes, let me know. I would offer to help with coding too, but I don't think you want me messing with PHP yet :)

With the 'attachment' hack will it just create a link for the user to dl the file or possibly if a user ul's a picture will it display that picture in the user's post?

any updates on attachhment hacks yet?

I think someone (overgrow if I'm not mistaken) got the attachement hack, does anyone know how to implement this?
I know it's gonna be on the next release, but it would be nice to have it right away ;)

Our board would not have made the switch without having an image-upload feature. Our Image Gallery is twice as popular as any other forum we have.

If I'm not mistaken, the author of our image hack (Herb/NL420) said he will release it when he's finished with the admin part. He wants to make sure the images are deleted if you remove the post, etc.

He's also still catching different browser's methods of forming the headers.. for instance any IE over version 4 calls em "pjpegs" instead of just "jpegs".. Also I think he fixed Opera 4.02 parsing yesterday.

Few days and we'll get it out..! Got another cool one coming down the pipeline too (besides Kill File)

Attachment hack? Can someone explain to me how it works exactly? :)

Our Image Gallery (http://www.overgrow.com/edge/forumdisplay.php?forumid=13)... allows users to attach GIF or JPG files to their post. The hack checks the headers to make sure it's the proper format and also limits the size of the file that can be uploaded. It then takes the image they uploaded and places it in their post.

Another way to do the attachments would have it accept any format and simply write it to the server drive and provide a link-- this way people could exchange zip files, docs, etc. For us, all we need are images :)

Dose this mean it uses your space or is it direct linked from somewhere else?

The Image Upload hack was written by our other sysadmin "Herb" .. thats probably why you couldn't find it. I bumped it up to the top of the message list so it's easy to spot.

vBoard.co.uk: It uses space on your server, that way people don't have to upload their images on Geocities or Xdrive and reference it. Makes it much easier for the users.
