Report Bad PM for vB3.7
Version 1.0.5
(By Boofo)
What does this product do?
This mod will allow the member to report a bad PM to the the Admin or Mods that you choose to receive the report. It also has a setting to start a thread in the forum of your choice for PM reports. I don't use that option as I don't think it reporting PMs in threads is a very smart idea, but I know I will be asked to add it and since it was already there, I left it in.
Version Information:
Version 1.0.1 -- Initial release for vBulletin 3.7.0 beta 4.
Version 1.0.2 -- Fixed missing TABLE_PREFIX.
Version 1.0.3 -- Re-did the PM template to be more in line with default vB PMs.
Version 1.0.4 -- Re-did the e-mail template to be more in line with default vB e-mails. Fixed datamanager error if PM receiver was over their PM quota. Added reportpmlog file, available to Super Admins only, to view and manage Bad PM Reports via the Admin CP.
Version 1.0.5 -- Updated with securitytoken.
Note: This will now work with both the posbit and postbit_legacy templates. This now is set at ON on install as well as User ID 1 receiving the Bad PM reports.
Credits:
A big thank you goes out to Paul M for most of the re-write for this for 3.5.4. Also, I want to thank to cheesegrits for his invaluable help on fixing the datamanager error while using the quote tags in the PM messages and helping me put the finishing touches on this new version. Last but not least, thanks goes to Dismounted for his permission for the use of his code for the automatic button insert into the template. Thank you, sir.

Is the install code missing the TABLE_PREFIX? I'm getting a "table doesn't exist" error when trying to test it out.
Thanks for the product! It will help my members report PM spam.

It's in the same spot at the one in the postbit is but only in private messages. ;)

You're right. I just checked it and no table prefix. I don't use one so I never noticed it. I will fix it and re-up a new one shortly. Sorry about that. I usaully check those things. ;)

I've been using another mod for report pm... a 3.6 mod... when i disable your mod, and enable the old one, the report image displays fine. If i swap them over Report Bad Pm just doesn't want to show the report image on my beta4 board.

No problem! I've really been enjoying the products you've releasing. Thanks!
@NeuroLancer - Then your postbit is changed from the code it is looking for. You will have to do a manual edit or revert the template first.
@ChurchMedia - The updated fix is now in the first post. Thanks for catching that. I had the TABLE_PREFIX on the uninstall code, just not the install code. ;)

You are absolutely right. I didn't even think of that as I only use the postbit. Is your postbit_legacy modified usually?
I will update the first thread with this info until we figure out how to handle it. I'm not sure if I can do 2 string replacements in the same xml and get away with it. I'm new at that stuff yet. ;)

I'm referring to how your post-bit information (number of post, join date, etc) are enclosed in a box on your forum.
Ok, try uninstalling the mod and reinstalling it. That should fix it for you. If you were using the first version in the beginning and updated it, it might not have remade the table.

So you're not releasing it, or is it someone else's?
It was done for my site. But I don't release template mods as I don't consider them hacks. It's really simple to do. Just do a table, and rows with the info in it. 2 td's for each row.

Awesome Mod. Is there a way to exclude certain member groups from being reported?
I didn't add that as I wanted it to be able to report anyone in case there was a rogue Mod or staff member on a site. Although rare, those things do happen. And I would want to know if someone was harassing or causing problems in PMs no matter who they were.

Thanks for the fast reply.
I agree on that point and that is rare but a real possibility. We run one of the largest American football message boards in the world and we have a lot of rabid fans. My concern is the tit-for-tat reporting of Mods by members who are pissed off because they were given warnings or infractions.
Well the best thing would be to make a rule for the site regarding reporting PMs. No matter how tit-for-tat it may be, if a user has a genuine concern, it should be addressed. And if you DO ever have a rogue mod and they know they are exempt from being reported, think of the havoc they can cause before you find out about it. This is a very seriouis hack that should not be allowed to be abused.

Once again, thanks, Boofo!
It's working fine on my forum at the moment, is there any real need to update?
Yes, as this will work in either postbit now in case you want to change it later and the PM message has been totally designed for easier viewing. Also, it defaults to being ON on install and User ID 1 to receive the the PMs. I would recommend upgrading. I would welcome your opinion on the new changes.
Thanks for this Boofo - it will be nice to keep this hack going. :)

I managed to change the warning message under the report box effortlessly, and I love the new format of the message that gets sent! Great job, once again!

If you just copied over it, the settings will stay what you had set before. I would do an uninstall and re-install it and it will be set how you want it. then go into the settings and see how I have it set to do it that way so next time you will know how to do it. Just enter the User ID or IDs of who you want to get the PMs in the bottom setting and make sure the Usergroups setting above it is cleared. It can either be set to Usergroups or User IDs.

When reporting a PM, I changed the default red text to this:
This is only to be used to report spam, problematic (harassing or rude) private messages, or any other content that violates our rules.
I removed the bold and red font (to make it a bit more professional and flow across the board), and I also made the word "rules" link to my rules page.

Ok, sounds great! The reason I made it red and bold is so it would stand out from the report post since they both use the same type setup. ;)
Yes, I think the bold red is very good Boofo. Makes it clear what is expected when reporting a PM.
What a lovely hack. :P

Let me know what you think of this Important Information message (in the pic). I changed the red color to the board highlight color and added some info to it. ;)

As for the install, does it count if it's on a test board? :) Once I update to 3.7, I'll likely include this modification.

Tested this on 3.6.8 and it didnt work for some reason. On my end while testing it, it seem to be working but never got the reported PM even though I have my user number entered and also the forum for admins. But do I need to have the "Report to all moderators" button on yes? I do not want it to go to all moderators, just me.
Also, anyone have any idea before I start messing around with this, how I could make a button appear next to "Forward"? I would rather have a "Report PM" button there. The http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/images/cstyle/blue/buttons/report.gif just isn't as noticeable. Thanks in advance.

You would have to add a button and do a conditional in the template for the button. I kept it in line with the Report Post icon for posts.

Thanks Boofo. We've recently been getting Buddhist spammers that join and send out mass amounts of PMs to everyone but staff... so it becomes kinda hard to "prove" that they're doing it, as I refuse to add a hack that allows us to read user PMs.

Must be. Did you read the install file carefully? You are the only one who has reported any problems with this so it has to be something you missed somewhere. The only thing the new version adds is the security token update.

You are kidding right? Who got the PM?
Nope. The intended recipient. I'll try clarify.
Admin sends a pm to a user ('bill')
"Could you please refrain from being an ass. Any more and the mods will ban at will"
and then decides he wants to share that pm with the mods. He goes into his sent items and clicks report pm.
The subsequent report thread will say who sent the pm but not have any mention of bill.
Probably by design.
Regular PMs do it the same way. That's why they are called "Private" messages.

Read the install file and reverse it. I was only patronizing to someone who was posting and deleting those posts. If you don't like something don't use it, but don't slam something you have no idea what you are talking about.

No actually you started the patronizing before I blasted anything before that I was asking was a specific feature available. Then I deleted my posts as I thought they were unfair on you considering you provide a working product for free.
Anyhow I went uninstall in acp and the "*[reportpm_manager]*" is still there.

Send Reports via PM: No
You won't see them in the PMs with the Send Reports via PM set to No. As far as the forums, you need to set the Usergroups that are allowed to see them to show up. The User ID is only for PMs. You can't do it both ways. Either forums or PMs.
Sorry, I guess I'm too busy I forget things like that hehe. Never mind LOL
LOL, Boofo! :)
The sucking up was almost working until the "Never mind" part. You were this close. ;)

I guess this does not show the forum admin the bad PM for supporting evidence? If not, could this be a possible setting?

I see someone asked a similar question, but I don't quite understand the answer. Here are my settings:
Enable Report PM: Yes
Send Reports via Email: No
Send Reports via PM: No
My other fields are blank, except for my 'Send Reports via Forum' field which is filled with an ID. I want PM reports to show up in the staff forum only, and not be PM'd or emailed to anyone; is this possible?
Make sure the forum ID is correct. That is the most common problem I have come across. What is not working? I just re-tested the forum part of it on my site (I don't use it for that) and it worked fine. And those settings would be correct for what you want.

You still need to either put in a usergroupid or userid - that's where I went wrong at first. It won't pm them if you don't have send pm ticked to yes, but you still need to enter that in there anyway. Hope that helps.
