compatible in what way?

it would be nice to be able to integrate vbcredits with vbexperience so that VBE's points can be turned into VBC's credits. Any idea if this is possible now or later?

unless vbexp has a setting to change the points field then no. vbcredits 2 is being built to enable hooking into any existing points fields including that one, whether the target addons have settings for it or not.

What about vbCommerce also?

thats a given! but it would rely on the new structure of vbcredits 2

Downloaded and installed. Installation went like a charm. Installation instructions in the readme were terrific, especially for a n0ob like me who doesn't really know what he's doing. That's very much appreciated.

What I can't seem to find in this thread or at vBcredits.com is some sort of primer on how to set up credits (dollars in my case). I'm not really understanding the math between these things. This is just Monopoly money for my site; no actual commerce is going on here, but I don't want to screw it up and have to obliterate everyone's accounts because I screwed up and wound up giving everyone $1,000,000 per post or something.

Is there any sort of beginners' guide or something like that to get me started?

Thanks.

OK, I'm trying to get this set up today, but when I go to my userCP and click on "Dollars and donations" or "Banking and loans" I get a 404 error.

Any help? I can't seem to get anywhere with the vBcredits.com board because I never got my registrastion e-mail so I'm permission-less for most of the threads there.

all of the settings describe the functions that arent self explanatory, however the basics of vbcredits is simply set up the awards in the usergroup settings for each action - there are defaults so you can get an idea for your own scale. once you give it a try and there are specific features you dont understand, just ask and i will be more detailed for them.

you dont need to do anything for vbcredits when upgrading vb3.7 to vb3.8 :)

whoops! as you can guess i quote a bunch of posts at once and answer them in one reply... must have forgotten that one.

I've been looking through the files and there isn't a specific config, and I can't seem to figure out which variable(s) do the cash. Would you consider a paid request for a converter like you have for some of the other cash systems?

the file is (forum)/gameroom/settings.php
set $this->cashType to "credits"
then scroll down to the eight $this->bonuses settings, and put 0 for each (otherwise they will get awarded on top of your regular vbcredits awards)

unfortunately, due to the way the gameroom's settings are in this file, you will have to reapply these edits upon every update of the gameroom on your site.

After reading a bit more, I've decided that what I really need to do is just play with it a bit to get my desired results. I suppose that's probably the best possible solution for anyone wanting to "customize" this to their site. A little time, a little patience....

Bingo! That was one file I missed. Checked all the others against my un-zipped download file, and all the rest are there. Working now. Thanks!

I'll drop by your site to see what other goodies I want to add on. I gather that vBcredits is the base off of which much more interesting stuff can utilize.

Thanks again! :)

all the find code appears to be in there, try searching for partial matches (like $post[posts]) and then examine if the match appears to be it (sometimes spacing can screw up finding the whole code)

Any plans for an upgrade for us free users of vBCredit (not upgrades or promotions for your commercial products).

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am currently making vBCredits II which should be available by vB4 gold. It is a full rewrite that will sidestep the issues that kept vBCredits 1.x from a final gold version

Darkwaltz4

i have no intention of making vbcredits compatible with vbfirewall.

why? it works with a whitelist. so, not only does it reject anything not on its list (which includes a million legitimate scripts such as vbcredits) but also anyone who reads that list can easily construct something malicious to get around it anyway.

at best its ineffective, at worst its disruptive.

--------------------------------------------

i am kind of freezing support for vbcredits (except for issues) because I am in the middle of developing vBCredits II. The core is done and being tested before I make the admin functions to configure it. Basically, setting up vBCredits II is much simpler and easier than it is right now, so it would be better to explain that one when it is available in a few days.

priority will be given to big boards wanting to assess the performance and those of you who've been with vbcredits the longest :) i dont know how many ill want yet, but details will be announced on my site as i get closer to finishing.

There is a global donation switch in the specialty settings, and for each usergroup is a donation limit - if it is 0, they wont be able to donate.

the style manager in your admincp? Or on credits.php on the forum?

Hello,
I use vB 3.8.4 PL2 and I have a some problems with vBCredits.
When I'm trying to change usergroups' options and click 'Update', a new usergroup is created (it's named e.g. as 'Registered Users'). BUT I have this problem ONLY when I edit options connected with vBCredits.
How to fix it?

Darkwaltz4
30 Jan 2010, 17:06
You are using suhosin and have hit the input maximum for your particular hosting setup. Technically, it is simply a coincidence that this happens with vBCredits stuff - it could have happened with anything you added next.

I do not support workarounds due to suhosin, but I do have a set of guidelines you can get your host to implement which should support my stuff, but thats all I can do: http://www.vbcredits.com/forum/announcement.php?f=5

Darkwaltz4
12 Feb 2010, 15:44
I have an addon that has been delayed which is supposed to handle selling access to those kinds of things. I have been spending my time with vBCredits II which is currently on its second beta with my testers. It supports charging for any actions which you could also reward for. It does do automatic template edits with template hooks :) once it is stable I will put a slimmed down version on vborg, but more info later (or on my site).

Is there a way to move Credits on postbit from the right-hand side to the left-hand side?

I have to much info on the right-hand side of postbit. *I think that is what it is called*

Also, I cannot wait until auto-templating. I have 24 styles on my site and I only have vBCredits coded for one out of the 24 styles. :erm: I have disabled all others due to not having oddles of time to update them all. :(

I have moved my base of operations to dragonbyte-tech.com due to creative differences with pixelfxstudios. This means the version at vbcredits.com will be maintained by his new team. My version however, will be under [dbtech].

Definitely confusion. We're not sure what a forked overhaul will look like, how these two things will overlap or operate with each other...perhaps you don't either at this stage? I think it's safe to say anything under the dbtech banner will be pulled apart and made into both a partialware ("lite") version and an expensive complete version.

=) The version released under the DBTech banner will have both a Lite and Pro version - we think it's important to give something free back to the community, even though some people act like it's their right to get things for nothing, which makes us sad =(

As DarkWaltz has already mentioned, our version will be the only one with him at the helm for the entire development, and will be the only one with him updating/upgrading it. the pixelFXstudios one will be with whatever coders PixelFXstudios is able to find.

I firmly expect our Pro version to be significantly more feature rich than any competing points system, and for our Lite version to be competitive with anything anyone else has released.

We plan on releasing both Lite and Pro at the end of the month, and are confident that everyone will be blown away by what the new version has to offer =)

No problem at all =)

If you have any more questions feel free to ask here, or via PM/DragonByte Tech. I can go into more detail on certain things elsewhere than i can on vb.org for obvious reasons.

Hope you like what we've come up with ^.^

vbcredits.com full versions will always been support on our site and we're working on full updates for 4.0.x as well. We're fully committed to supporting our clients including free upgrades to all 4.0.x for those that bought products through us and will continue to support all new and old products. We also have lite versions of our products which will be posted at vbulletin.org to meet with the site rules here.

Darkwaltz4 is no longer staff with our firm aka PixelFX Studios we had new programmers setup to carry on development of our systems, however and we have wished him to the best in his new position with dbtech.

We are not affiliated in any way with dbtech, although we've offered any of their users a 10% discount on products at vbcredits.com, just pm me for info.

We've read the posts above, and all we ask is that users be act professional so we all can release scripts that support end users as best as possible. Thank You

Thanks PixelFX. It's with great hope that Darkwaltz4 focuses on some wonderful extensions and add-ons to the upcoming vBCredits rather than a replica credits solution. I think that will only cause more confusion, and divide support and integration for other developers on vb.org. We have enough of that with vb's maintenance releases! :D

Looking forward to vBCII!

^.^ Less of a danger with DBTech than other companies since DBTech is a large successful team - even if one person was to leave, there are plenty of others to carry on the work.

Can't say the same for smaller companies mind you. I'm sure Rob has no intention of ever doing so, but there's always a greater risk of very small companies with only 1 person running things going down. At DBTech the way the agreements are set up, even if one person was to leave, the rights are still transferred so the products can continue to be sold, supported and developed by the remaining team members =)

=) Thanks for bringing up the point though. It's important for people to understand the relative risks in purchasing products - thats why all of our products are available for download immediately upon payment - theres no chance of everything suddenly vanishing without getting the product you pay for.

I feel this is important, and the more open way to do business.

How soon after a user completes an activity, such as making a post, do their credits show up?

ArnyVee
21 Jun 2010, 02:54
The credits should show up immediately after adding a post. That is, if all usergroup permissions and credits are setup correctly. Default setup should be sufficient, but just check the specific usergroup permissions if they are not showing for you. :)

put this in your config.php:

then you can get into your admincp to disable vbcredits

Hey there! I've got this mod installed.

I was wondering if there was a way to show the total amount of credits in a usergroup?

For example if I wanted to create a competition between Usergroup A and Usergroup B to see which group could earn the most amount of credits, would I be able to do this?

This is not possible in this version. The pro version of vBCredits II Deluxe allows you to build bar graphs comparing the earning levels on several grouping methods including usergroup in the transaction manager.

How can I edit how many points are given for a new post, new thread, etc?

I see no options for that.

Those are in the usergroup settings.

Did you leave the post award system enabled for regular members? Check the usergroup settings for them. There is a tool in the vbcredits menu to find and edit the amounts people have all at once.

Usergroup settings. The main settings let you choose the days, but you cant choose a reference time point though (its effectively from when you installed the addon)

What the heck is the post award system even for? And what does that have to do with somebody being able to donate millions of credits to other users when he doesn't even have that amount himself?

And I honestly can't find that "tool in the vbcredits menu to find and edit the amounts people have all at once".

No offense, but this mod really needs to be more organized, user-friendly, and easier to find options.

The post award system is a way for staff groups to award credits to other users without taking the credits out of their own accounts. Some people mistake this for other things and accidentally enable this for regular members.

I invite you to upgrade to the new iteration of vbcredits - vBCredits II Deluxe (works for vB3.7/8+4): http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=245952

In Usergroup Manager > vBCredits Awards > Paycheck Credit

So in "Interval for Activity and Paycheck Awards" field I enter 30 days, and in the "Paycheck credit" for usergroups I enter 10, It means that with every 30 days the usergroup will earn 10 credits?

I mean in vBCredits 1.x the paycheck's date range starts from the time you installed the addon, you cant manually adjust it to the first of the month or something. But you can in vBCredits II which this version should work on vb3.7 http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=245952

Dark, probably not the most appropriate place for this question--perhaps I should shift to the 4.0 thread... but let me explain my basic needs, and let you know what trouble I ran into on the development site:

NEED: purchase credit integration (previous purchased vbcredit$ addon)

NEED: subscription purchase to add bonus credits when purchased (this can be accomplished by usergroup promotion in deluxe, but ill explain why this isnt working for me later)

NEED: daily paychecks per usergroup, cron'd and not based on login

---------------

What I ran into in your newer version is a problem where, the new system seems to pay out only when a user logs in, or after x minutes if you use the cron. So, when a user subscribes and they are promoted, they may not see their credits instantly which can be frustrating.

I also need a way to have users purchase credits, I split the use of two credits fields (checking and savings). Purchased credits go to savings, monthly-earned via daily paychecks/subscribed credits go to checking. Checking credits can only be used with an active subscription.

I do not allow the use of the bank, or donation systems. This is basically "real" cash conversion to credit to allow the purchase of goods on the site (separately scripted).

can you suggest a way to do this with your new products? I have been unsuccessful in getting them to work the way I need them to (as described) and the inability to allow processed paypal/google co/payments is a really preventing me from using this.

Appreciate the help.

Darkwaltz4

The paypal integration is part of an in-testing pro version.

You can turn on immediate transactions in the global config (by default its disabled for deferred processing as the calculations required can be overwhelming to busy servers). At any rate why is it important that users get credits when they are not logged in? It wont matter to them unless they are present, at which point they would have their credits. There are many changes made which include that philosophy in an effort to reduce server stress.

jayhawk785
14 Nov 2010, 22:52
what if they have a subscription, and they are moved to a usergroup where they receive 2 credits per day for 6 months. Lets say they don't login for the last 3 months of their subscription. The subscription is expired at that point--do they still receive the paycheck for the last 3 months (up to the point the subscription expired)?

also, for me to report off usage etc, it's ideal that its more 'real' time.

Are all of those calculations suspended when the product is turned off ? I am trying to diagnose excess database hits and slow load times, I think it is mostly vb but I just want to be sure Every other process is turned off.

Hm, well for the short term, I am not changing it as you are the only person to have raised an issue with it. The previous vbcredits did those via midnight cron, but performance issues with large forums was a frequent complaint - it would be that much worse with the new one. I'll hang onto your suggestion though.

Also, paypal integration is now available in the new pro version at dbtech :) (link in sig)

See this for example:

This is the problem:

für 4000:
7102

After refreshing the post cache to fix some issues with another mod
we noticed that the charge code contents aren't displayed correctly
anymore but instead show some weird numbers inside.

Can you tell me how to fix this issue? We have thousands of posts
