Sorry a bit off-topic mate, do you have any plans to release the Dark Style that is also on your forum?

Not sure if you are the same person that PMed me over there, but if not.... the answer is I'm not sure. I have, however, just released a "dark" style called SleekBlack. Have a look!

Is this version of the template (RC4) compatible with 3.7.0 Gold?

markbolyard
30 Apr 2008, 05:47
I'm pretty sure it is. I'll be upgrading myself to Gold this week, and I will report back any changes I come across and update the package if required.

Sure, if you read the instructions, I tell you how to replace / remove the ads.

NOTE: To Remove Advertisements, you simply go to the ADMINCP - > Style Manager - > Edit this styles templates - >
Revert all Ad location Templates to the default vBulletin value, or if you would like to use your own ads in place of the sample ads, edit each ad location template and replace the ad code with your own.

Revert those templates and you will have no ads.

Updated. If you installed the RC4 version of this style, there is no need to upgrade for 3.7 Gold.

hello Mark,

there's one problem i'm facing..

The navigation bar gives a problem on vbadvanced page. I like to keep navbar disabled on vbadvanced page which is somehow blocking the Search and Quick Links javascript function i.e. the menu doesn't pop out !!

However, if I enable navbar for vbadvanced.. it works fine !!

please help me out !! to be more clear you can see what am I talking about, here (http://www.tech555.com/forum/portal.php). Simply click on Search and Quick Links menu.. you would notice that nothing happens.. then simply navigate to any other page, it works fine !!

Try this:

In the NavBar template, find:

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

Copy that code to the header template (Add it to the end). Remove it from the navbar template. This should correct your issue.

woww.. that was fast !! thank you so much ... its perfect now ..

one more thing plz.. http://www.tech555.com/forum/redbar/misc/menu_open.gif this image does not display in my gallery section besides the Search and Quick Links menu..

Strange thing is that this image does not display only when entered at the the Gallery, rest everywhere it shows .. plz check it here (http://www.tech555.com/gallery)

I tried copying it to Gallery's images folder but no help !!

Whenever you are missing images, left click the red X you see, and click properties. it will show you exactly where you need to place the image.

With photopost, I typically copy the style directory into the gallery directory. ie:

http://www.tech555.com/gallery/redbar/

If you do this, it will correct your image problem. The image in question should be here:

http://www.tech555.com/gallery/redbar/misc/menu_open.gif

Also, realize this is COPY, not move the images.. yes, you will have two copies of the redbar folder on your server. This is what I do, but someone else more familiar with photopost might know the better way to do it.

thanks for your reply .. but sir, you are actually talking about header replacements which is a feature of Photopost..

earlier there were multiple missing image including all the header images.. I simply mentioned the filenames to be prefixed with the Forum's URL in the Header Replacements..

all the images display now except this one ( http://www.tech555.com/forum/redbar/misc/menu_open.gif ) and this is because this image's link does not show up in the source of the page. You may check it.. I don't understand how other vB pages are showing this image..

ohh dear.. its working noww !! I did what you said.. here's the new location for the image http://www.tech555.com/gallery/redbar/misc/menu_open.gif

i am really wondering howz this done !!

thanks a ton..:)

The code that inserts this image is in an external Javascript file,
clientscript/vbulletin_menu.js.

I would recomend that you just upload that one pic to the appropriate directory.

Mark,

Great Style - like it :)

Is there any easy way to change this to a Fluid style, as opposed to a fixed one?

Thanks
Paul

markbolyard
03 May 2008, 14:38
Sure. Go to StyleVars, and set the width to 100%.

Go to the Footer template, and find this code:

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

Change the width from 964 to 100%.

Go to the Header template, and find this code:

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

And change 964 to 100%.

Alternatively, I should have probably changed 964 to $stylevar[outertablewidth] which would all you to set this by the StyleVar, but I think I had a padding issue on the footer corners. Anyway, there you go, 100% fluid style.

anything that has all the fixes in one download?

markbolyard
04 May 2008, 05:43
What fixes? There is nothing required to "fix" this style. If you are refering to the fluid width, no it is not in the download. Just follow the directions above.

That sorts it. Now a nice fluid template. Need to edit a couple of things because of navbar issues, however many thanks :)

Yes, looks like you have to change the class on your navbar links that are getting added, but other than that (and fix the vbadvanced image paths) it looks fine.

Sorry mark, could you expand a little please? I've no problems in editing code etc, however changing class' is a whole different ball game!!

Thx

I was refering to the navigation. vBulletin's default navigation class for the navbar is vbmenu_control, however this style's class is "menu". So when installing modifications and adding links to this navbar, you will change the vbmenu_control class to menu. Looks like you corrected the navbar issue however, other than the ***** at todays post (which perhaps you wanted to be there).

HI I am using your template, but our sub forums are kind of out of wack.

The tables for it aren't showing for it. Doen't have a background etc.

any ideas?

Example of the test subforum on this page.

markbolyard
07 May 2008, 14:10
Well, there are two possibilities. Either you have that subforum set up incorrectly, or you've modified something that is breaking the style.

Does that forum have a parent set? What are your settings below for that forum?

Act as Forum
(Will act as category if no) Yes No

Forum is Active
(Will not appear if set to no, but remains accessible if the forum's URL is known) Yes No

Forum is Open
(Set this to 'No' to prevent any new posts being made in this forum) Yes No

Index New Posts in Search Engine
(Setting this to 'No' will prevent anyone from being able to search in this forum) Yes No

Hmmm we have lots of mods, but don't know what would have driven this to break.
Rest of the forum is fine.

It does this will all parent forums:

Yet looking at it from main page of forums is fine. http://www.yourhighbid.com/forums/ Its only when u look at it from clicking on the parent forum catagory.

I just installed your skin. It looks great!

One question:

How do I set up the width of the part of the footer where there's "Contact Us - Admin - Mod - Archive - Top"?

markbolyard
12 May 2008, 17:18
It would be in your footer template. look for this code:

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.

That's 100% of which table?

How do I setup the space between the forum and the wrapper?

markbolyard
15 May 2008, 15:41
That is 100% of the table that contains those lengths. Since that table is contained in the main page table, depending on what you set your forum width at, this table will expand to 100% of the page table. If you want to manually adjust the width of just the links section in the footer, then change the 100% value to either a new % or a fixed pixel width.

Are there plans for a BlueBar sister style?

markbolyard
16 May 2008, 14:33
Not at this time. Honestly this was one of the first styles I released and I wasn't that impressed with it. Alot of people here seem to like it, but I don't have plans to make any additional color selections of this style, sorry.

Hi Mark

Another great style.

How do I add links to Navbar template.

I normally look for

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

And add after

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

etc etc

But your navbar template is different, which has thrown me.

Also, I have done the 100% width for fluid pages, but the navbar needs to be 100% aswell. So I need to alter the code that calls redbar/elements/catsub.jpg etc. to stretch navbar across the page.

Any help appreciated.

:D

UK-Biker
24 May 2008, 10:48
Right. So far managed to set navbar 100% width.

UK-Biker
24 May 2008, 11:01
Links I normally use just won't work, so I need to know how to add a link to navbar preferrably using usergroup permissions.
(unlike the way I normally do it)

I need to add links for photoplog, all-albums and some custom html pages.

Obviously I know all the links I need, just not how to code them in ie; all-albums.php, /Photoplog, mypage.html etc etc

Modified the header template and added this for each new link

Sorry for the late reply. Been moving to a new house. Yes, you need to add links to the header template and not the navbar template.

Hm, no logo1.jpg, but if you mean logo.jpg, that is under StyleVars in Title Image.

Love the RedBar style! I just installed the new vBulletin Blog add-on and the theme didn't recognize the new "blog" images folder and the nav bar link. Any chance of updating RedBar for the blog add-on? Thanks.
