Honestly, this is a mess. The instructions make little if any sense. Are you supposed to install another mod before this one? Please provide step-by-step instructions in plain English. Good job! I was having the issue with the ads showing up twice as well. I read your post, then disabled the rotations and it moved it to the left.

I still can't get it to show up on the left side of the page at all...

EDIT: I did find that if you turn off 'Auto Refresh Ads' it will only show them once. Anyone else notice this?

I haven't changed any templates. There is no error-message, it's like the mod isn't installed!

I added $ad_headerEnd to the header template, then the Ads are correctly displayed (not in the correct position, but are displayed!) So I think, the automatic template change doesn't work?!

thx for your reply . in v2.3 i changed 5 templates : ad_header_end , ad_header_logo , ad_navbar_below , ad_footer_start and ad_footer_end to fix 2 bugs :
1= in previous version ((1.0........to 2.2 )) if you uninstall this mod you can delete the 5 default templates and to restore them you must run the upgrade.php?step=4
2= if you upgarde your forum you have to re-import the product again !

to center the ads just go to style manager , your style , ad_whatever and put the code betwen <center> and </center> .

i will post v2.4 this week with this new features :
* vb 3.7.x : give the abilitity to your members to add there ad or banner in memberinfo , group and album (( they can do control this via usercp ))
* ad a square ad {{ large 336/280 ,medium 300,225 ............ }} in left or right side in postbit , postbit_legacy , pms , announcement
* adsense sharing .

when you add the code make sure you put the forumsid with which you want to display the random advertisements, separated by | example : 1 | 15 | 40 ...........
for your 2nd question yes you have this option in Advertisement System (postbit ))

just one more issue left...I've added code for the left and right side columns, but they never show up. Any ideas why? I've tried messing with the settings, but I can't find a configuration that works for some reason.

I've got problems with this mod... the problem is that the footer ads don't show.

Is neccesary to activate the footer refresh? I think that the problems is there, if I activate the footer refresh seems that the ad would be there but it doesn't appear (there's space for it) and a error message:

But if I don't activate the footer refresh the space for the ad dissapear and no error message appear. I really don't need the ad refresh...

Definitely there's a problem with autorefresh... The ads don't show if the autorefresh is inactive. I check this in header, navbar, footer...

But in the sections that haven't autorefresh feature (threadbit, postbit...) the ads always show perfectly... so I think there's a problem with autorefresh feature...

If I don't activate autorefresh the ads don't appear, and if I activate it the ad try to appear (the space for it is there) but a message of error appear:

I have an unusual problem:
I have posted in navbar a .svf file advertisment and if I click on search the pop up small window appear behind the banner not on top thus making impossible to use the quick search. Fortunately you can see Advance search link.

OK - hopefully this is a bit more info to help debug what's going on and why there seems to be issues with this mod.

I'm going to use the footer as an example on our forums.

I don't use multiple codes, just one. However, the rotation setting seems to impact this mod a great deal.

Settings are as follows:
Auto refresh Ads = No
Ads Rotation = Yes
Outcome = Ads show up, centered in the footer, as expected.

Settings are as follows:
Auto refresh Ads = No
Ads Rotation = No
Outcome = NO ads show up AT ALL.

Settings are as follows:
Auto refresh Ads = Yes
Ads Rotation = No
Outcome = Ads are justified to the left, which is NOT as expected.


Settings are as follows:
Auto refresh Ads = Yes
Ads Rotation = Yes
Outcome = TWO sets of ads show up in the middle. The middle is as expected, but TWO of them showing up is NOT.

And I STILL cannot get the skyscrapers to show up for some reason. No matter what settings I mess with.

in the feature list on top of this thread it is stated, that this works also with 3.6x of vb. But when I try to install it, I get the following error:

This product is not compatible with version 3.6.8 of vBulletin. (Compatible starting with 3.7.0)

I fixed my problem :) There is a little bug in ad_headerEnd.tpl!

Perhaps the option to select where you want your ads justified? I say this because we prefer them in the center...that's why I don't think it's a bug, but rather a preference.

My I suggest that you change the way the banners codes are embed in the templates? It seems like a lot of people are complaining about the banner positions (not centred etc.), which will always because everyone wants them positioned differently. In actual fact, it's very easy to change the position of the ads yourself (just edit the Ad Location Templates), but some people would rather complain that sort it out for them selves. SO here is my recommendation.

In the ad CP, have a box that contains the CSS for each ad position. You could supply the default code, but this would put the responsibility on the user to align his/her ads the way they want. This is in a effect what I have done. My ad location templates are all empty (except for the $ad_ID) and are wrapped in a DIV tag that is then styled using CSS. A much better way of doing it.

This would cut down on a large amount of your support questions.

Also, my other question was what is the difference between the FooterStart ad and the FooterEnd ad? It seems that your plugin only uses FooterEnd, so why even have FooterStart in there? I couldn't figure out a way to use the FooterStart ad even if I wanted to use it.

Have a problem with this mod. When we click on the Currently Active Users link in the bottom of the forums we get an error message for guests viewing the forum & areas of the forums.

I would uninstall the Mod, revert your templates you changed and re-install and edit those templates again. I am running 3.7.2 with the latest patch and this install has been upgraded at every step from 3.6.8.

This does work, and works well except for a few minor/medium level things and more serious (all below).

Minor/Medium:

Documentation needs work....

He's using new Template Names (little different format than original VB 3.7 Ad Location Templates but some of his new ones use the original format (with the last underscore) - they may get confusing in the future.

You do have to select either Ads Rotation or Auto Refresh Ads for many of the locations that have these options, you can't select both (as posted previously) and you cannot have both unselected. I would think you could leave both unchecked and it would just display the code - no big deal though.

You do have to enable the Navbar options to use the Left Column Ad (I assume it is supposed to be the same with the Right which doesn't work) even though you don't want to use the Navbar Location (simply enable Navbar and leave its Ad Code empty/blank).

Sometimes there is a space/line break between the lines "Copyright ©2000 - 2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd." and "Advertisement System V2.3 By Branden" at the bottom... it doesn't happen on all pages and at all times (I have not spent much time with this one).

Serious:

The Right Column does not work at all (I didn't spend a lot of time with it though since I'm liking the Left Column for two of my Ads - for now)...


I'd like to see:

Full install/more things completed during install.

Option to add (enable/disable with Permissions) Custom Text under all or most of the Ad Locations: i.e. "Register to remove this ad. It's free!". I know we can manually add this in the templates (with some work), I do feel this should be something easy for admins to accomplish, at least in the postbit and threadbit locations. This Option should have Usergroup Permission Options. <--- #1 Option I want.

Options to easily adjust horizontal and vertical justification for all Ad Locations (or most).

Permissions work as expected and I am satisfied with this release... from the previous version release dates, he does seem active in updates so I thing the product will only improve. I would put priority on the Right Column Ad issue.

Give yourself some time, don't give up.. this product does work and work well... his instructions (maybe his English?) needs improvement.

Adsense does work! Remember, once you have new Adsense Code, it can take a little time for the Ads to show up. Also, since it's against Google's rules, I don't use Auto Refresh with their Ads.. I simply enable Ads Rotation and have code in for Adsense (one Ad).

You do have to select either Ads Rotation or Auto Refresh Ads for many of the locations that have these options, you can't select both (as posted previously) and you cannot have both unselected. I would think you could leave both unchecked and it would just display the code - no big deal though.

You do have to enable the Navbar options to use the Left Column Ad (I assume it is supposed to be the same with the Right which doesn't work) even though you don't want to use the Navbar Location (simply enable Navbar and leave its Ad Code empty/blank).

Sometimes there is a space/line break between the lines "Copyright ©2000 - 2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd." and "Advertisement System V2.3 By Branden" at the bottom... it doesn't happen on all pages and at all times (I have not spent much time with this one).

Right now I am only running the header ad and its running google adsence as the only one. I have auto refresh on and everything is working fine in that area. What im having problems with is that my google add is the 720 X 90 (or whatever the exact size is) and its not displaying it all. I put that size into the maximum size section under the admanagment settings and it is giving the ad a 1/4 inch white space on both sides of the ad and its cutting off the bottom 1/8th to 1/4 or so.

OK, I had the same issue, I just went into ad_headerEnd and changed the size on this line:

Do the same for the footer as well to match your banner size.

I think this should be handled with variables as well. FEATURE?

Also, you are not supposed to Auto Refresh Adsense, that is against their rules. Disable that and enable ads rotation in header.

The Right Column does not work at all (I didn't spend a lot of time with it though since I'm liking the Left Column for two of my Ads - for now)...

He does need to fix that Left/Right/Navbar Page - You should be able to enable/disable (and Set Permissions) those three independently IMO...

In regards to the Right Column, I still had my Ads Code in there and had kept enabled Right column in archive (I'm using Left in Main and Archive since Right Column in Main is not working) and noticed Both Columns work in the Archive, even the Right Column).

It works, you just need to do some specific things.

Adsense Ads, if new, can take several minutes to show.
I made sure that the advertisement system is turned off.

Turn the system on in Advertisement System (Settings & Slideshow) :D

For Header and Footer, if you leave those options blank, Everyone sees the Ads. Do that first.

Yea they are bland and I turned on the Advertisement thing that I thought I was suppose to have off but still no go. If you wouldn't mind I will let you be admin and you can look for yourself. We make backups ever 4 hours so I'm not to worry about anyone messing up my forums.

OK, to clarify, he means either / or... you don't want to use both sets of code in Forumhome and Footer/Header (for all pages): i.e. to show columns in all pages, you don't need the Edits in Forumhome (you may have done this from the install documentation).

The Right Column does work now though it still doesn't work right if you only want it in Forumhome. There are some horizontal spacing issues as well with the Right Column. I am starting to prefer the Left Column anyways, but I do have the edits in for the Right Column.

karim004, what I need help with is:

I want to have Left/Right Column support in all pages but when reading an individual Thread (Postbit?), I know what to do in ForumHome, but what do I need for the pages that just show the Thread List (threadbit?)... Again, I don't want to show the Left or Right Columns when Users are reading a Thread (posts) but I do want them on all other pages. :D

I was able to fix this by turning off the "Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template" under vbulletin options ---> style & language settings. By using the horizontal layout (instead of the vertical one), it fixed the problem of the user menu drop down not working when a google ad is right below the post.

I know this isn't a "Fix", the vertical one is still broken, but I thought i'd share this information anyways ;)

Call me a n00b but I can't find the edit box in admin panel that corresponds to $ad_headerLogo.

The only box under "Advertisement System (Header & Footer) is "Header Advertisement Code" but that only displays code for $ad_headerEnd. Where is the box that corresponds to $ad_headerLogo?

EDIT: If I am correct the edit template box is under "Advertisement System (Settings & Slideshow) which means slideshow has to run through $ad_headerlogo? (ie is there no way to turn of slideshow and simply run several banners in rotation under headerlogo)?

Second question, I want to make $ad_headerEnd (or other locations) to 468 x 60 px instead of 729 x 90 px. How do I go about doing this?

Been working with phpBB for years, but I'm fairly new to vBulletin. I can't seem to get this working at all. I'm using 3.7.2 and I can't find the right lines of code in the header file of the cutsom or default styles. I've been working at it for days, but I'm getting no where fast.

In Navbar left and right columns you can condition usergroup for the whole banners (navbar, left and right banner) It will be nice to have group conditionals for each banner.

OK, I had the same issue, I just went into ad_headerEnd and changed the size on this line:

Do the same for the footer as well to match your banner size.

I think this should be handled with variables as well. FEATURE?

Also, you are not supposed to Auto Refresh Adsense, that is against their rules. Disable that and enable ads rotation in header.

I agree with you. It would be better if we can put the size we want for the ads, rather than editing the ad_ template one by one for each styles we have. ;)

Maybe you can take a look (for example only) at Cyb-Flash Image banner rotator. It also has a hit count for the statistic.

I want my guests to see forumbits, but I dont want logged in users to see them. Then I want registered members to see threadbits.

Any way to do this or is it planned to separate out the permissions?


Also, on the previous version for vB 3.6 there was a Remove Ads link which you could link to a premium members page to have ads removed, any way to add this again?

Suggestion: Can you make it so there's an expiration date? That would really help those that sell their adspace out to other people so that we can just set and forget.

The simple rotation is not working properly. It shows both ads at once!

I have seperated both ads with a comma, but no luck.
You should separate it with | . Disregard what it says next to it in control panel.

But I have encountered a bug:
I have place left column add and is working. Upon saving the second code (separated by |) after save I get this error:
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Ok, I have seen the post about adsense not working. I have mine working...kinda.

It shows up in the postbit, but not correctly in the header/footer.

A few issues:
- The width and height of the Iframes used in the autorefresh ads is hardcoded in the installation XML. It would be better if you are able to set this in the vBulletin options.
- I frequently got "headers could not be sent" errors which I fixed by moving the javascript from the top of the autorefresh pages to the the [html] [head] section.

It works great now but it's the finishing touch to a great mod.

I left the "Do NOT display advertisements for scripts:" field BLANK and the header and footer ads won't display for unregistered guests... Any advice? the rest of the ads work fine.

Ideas anyone? Is this a bug in the mod or in my template? Suggestions? Solutions? Advice?

Ive got the slideshow working smoothly.. I have a small header on the right. but the slideshow interfere's with this and pushes the header down the page.

Is there anyway to incorporate both the advert system and my small header ?

Got it figured out.

You must add the Portal Output Global Variable of ad_navbarBelow in order for it to display on the vBA homepage.

I have around the 20 banners that i want to rotate every time when the page loads. I want to place the banners on the threadbit , forumbit , postbit and postbit_legacy.

Can this mod do this rotation ? (if it can i dont understand how). Or do i have to use openx or something for the rotation ?

you can use rotation in : in header , below navbar , below whats going on , in footer , forumbit , threadbit , pms , announcements , postbit , postbit_legacy , leftcolumn , rightcolumn

nop ! you can add the table code just if you have prb with the rightcolumn (( display below whats going on )) and the $ad_leftcolumn_code it s the code to display left column

It pushes my header to the left and then the system scrolls after it.. (which is fine :))

If I was to make my header the full width of the screen.. would the advertisement system just run over the top of it, using my header as a background ?

With the previous version I could take the code and put it anywhere I wanted to and that's where it showed up. With your version, my header is stuck in the middle, no matter what cell/table, etc. it's put into. We don't use the conventional out of the box vBulletin header, and do not wish to. I need to know how to strip your code of it's pre determined alignment so that it can be used in our customized header.

How do you turn off autorefresh? I deleted the three autorefresh files and "Not Found" showed up where the banner is supposed to be. I just want regular rotation.

I tried commas between the code and still nothing. Just the first banner shows. Is slideshows the rotation function?
