Email notification for new threads in subscribed forums

Subscribing to a forum apparently does not mean I'll get a mail when there is a new thread, right?

Getting notification on new threads in subscribed forums (typically "Announcements" and forums like that) is in high demand by my users. Does anyone know of a hack that implements this?

i really want this as well, there still appears to be a field "email update" inside the subscribedforum table unless that was left over from 1.4
