I am thinking about creating a webmail system that is intergrated with vbulletin pm fuction. This is the way i am thinking about doing it

using .procmailrc file make it point to have it save the file with a name of username.mail. When the users comes to the site, the board will then check to see if the user have mail and put that mail into mysql database and tell the users with a pop-up messgae that they have email.

Does anyone have a better way of doing this or have a suguestion?

Gossamer Threads released their hardcore, industrial strength webmail system v2 today, and it will have a vbulletin plugin by monday. Slots right in. Ace.

Sure is. Might be worth it in the long run though - it really is a good product.

Seems silly to fork out all of that money when the vB PM system seems to have most of the functionality of an e-mail system included anyway (the nice GUI front end, arranging PM's etc.)

I think Vbulletin has the basics of many programs, but I don't really feel that the last step towards a quality and reliable webmail program would be that easy. They've spent a lot of time on the script, and they have a big, hardcore team, so I guess that stands as a testament to its difficulty. Like vbulletin, they had the basics in their module system, and even with that it was a lot of effort.

I also can't spend that kind of money on the board, It will take me a few months to start on the project, because i have many other ahead of this one.
