Have you ever wanted your users to be able to define who exactly can view the information in any particular post? vS-Hide Hack Resurrection, a vBulletin 3.5.x - 3.8.x expansion, features a set of handy tags that together give your users an opportunity to do just that:

: defines the minimum number of posts required to read the content within.
[SHOWTOGROUPS]: defines the usergroups that may read the content within.

Why "Resurrection"?

The reason is simple: This hack has been written many times by various people, and nobody ever got their version working correctly.
This product presents a professional version written from scratch, and there are no backdoors through which hidden information can be illegally retrieved. Unlike other systems, this one works correctly with the vBulletin Post Cache.

Usage Syntax:

Shortcut code, can be mapped to any of the below ones. By default, it is mapped to HIDE-POSTS.

Some features, such as HIDE-REPLY and HIDE-THANKS are not present in the limited edition. "Lite" and "Limited" means the same thing. :)

Why?.. What you have to do is download vBulletin (uncompressed javascript), and overwrite just the javascript folder. You don't have to overwrite everything.

Try checking the paths to those images -- maybe you're thinking of a wrong path. See where it tries to load images from, and upload them to that location.

It doesn't make a large difference for the limited edition, you would just not see popups when you click the HIDE and SHOWTOGROUPS toolbar buttons. They will be entered into edit field as and , respectively, instead of . So it will be difficult for everyone to figure out how to use the tags.

For the expanded edition, not doing JavaScript edits will lose the entire AJAX functionality.

Please check that the permissions are enabled for usergroups and forums where you are trying to use the hack.

That is a known issue with 3.7.1 - automated template injections implemented but they don't support quickedit and quickreply yet. That will be fixed in the next release.

Works great, but i have a question.

is there any way to modify the hack so that a user does not see the hide content if they are added to the usergroup where it was visible after the post was made?

for instance, say user AAA posted something that user BBB cant see on 2/20, then on 2/21 user BBB was added to the usergroup. User BBB can now see the message that AAA wrote. I want that message to remain private based on date, so BBB cannot see reguardless if hes in the usergroup or not.

I will say to people that have Big Boards. I have one. More than 1000 Regestritation a Day and over 250000 Thanks at Day.

We must remove this Hack because. If you want Delte some Thread the Script search one Million user Thanks to Delete this. At this moment have the MYSQL Server Load over 50 and it is good Machine ( 4 Socket 4x Quad Xeon 5110 16 GB RAM and 4x SCSI 15k 76 GB with Raid 10).

This Hack was fine for a Forum that have max 1000 Thanks a Day or somethink.

This hack works finde for Smal Boards I have an Board that comes over 1 Million Thanks at Day.

And then try to Delete a Thread. The Hack will go over all half million Users and Search to delete the Thanks.
And there is the Querry that Produces Thousands of Slow Querries.

And on all Showthread there where a Slow Querry to get the Count.

At some Moments this Hack will be Locked the Table and no more Requests are Possible so apache loads all to RAM I have 32 GB RAM and than I have an usage of 20 GB of RAM this is not normal.

Bad Hack for Big Boards and Support is Failed. I have say I will pay for Coding this Hack for BigBoards but I don't get any Answer.

You have some old critical bug in all versions of this hack. It's possible to view anything, inside of [hide] tag. Tested today on your site - same shit. I can't post it to your bug tracker, because I don't get confirmation email. If you will manually move my user (Vangerltd) to the "registered users" group, it will be great.

Problem with Slow queries killing Mysql.

The hack need to be rewritten to do a better performance and be nice with the Mysql, the slow queries just point to the hack and the server load hits the skies.

When I use the HIDE-Hack with presing on HIDE, I should write the param but then it looks like:

Make sure that when you copy the text to search for, you don't copy the spaces (tabs) on the first line of the text. Otherwise it might not find it.

As for the "I imported product and it does not show up", well, please make sure that you upload all files of the hack before you activate the product.

You have to download a vBulletin-version enclosing uncompressed javascript-files. The regular download includes compressed files, which can't be edited in the way Psionic mentioned and recommended.

The HIDE-button is just an option to hide something on your forums. The thread author will use it to hide some content. If you would like to have users paying via paypal for unlocking hidden content you can combine the "Thanks"-Button with paypal code because Abe's PostThankYou-Hack (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=165673) can be enabled or disabled for specified forums. So if you enable the Thanks-Hack only in forums where HIDE ist used you can launch a donation link by clicking thanks button.

you're really bombing this thread itsheinz and others have questions they are hoping to get answered as well. Why not just back everything out and go in the right way? You can download the uncompressed javascript version form the member's area! This topic isn't intended as a javascript editing tutorial and it isn't necessary anyway. You don't even really need to *back out* if you just overwrite the javascript file with the uncompressed version... read back a bit - this has all been discussed.

You cannot uncompress it - you will have to download an "uncompressed" vBulletin package from www.vbulletin.com. When you download, select "more options", and then "uncompressed javascript". You do not need to overwrite all files, just the clientscript folder with the one from that package.

I have a question about an issue I am having with the mod. If a user quotes a post with a hidden comment, the hidden comment is revealed to the user in the quote. How do I fix this?

I followed the mod instructions step by step, so I cannot imagine what I missed.

Ok, i am just trying to install this Mod on my 3.8.4 vB. And I realize this has been asked many times before, but as far as I could see, there was never a clear answer to it that even a non-vB expert could understand.

My forum is standard 3.8.4. , not with uncompressed Files, which can be also downloaded as I now saw. So how do I do the edit with the .js File when I have compressed JS Files. Do I have to replace just that one there with the uncompressed one or all of them, and if, do I have to compress them/it again afterwards ?

Hello All.

Is there a way to modify the addon to do the following:

- The [HIDE] BB code currently unhides for the user when they reply to a specific topic in a thread.

- Every time you REP someone (globally) with the built in Rep system, it awards the user 1 REP point.

- In order for someone to reply in a specific thread, they must have 20 rep points (which are gained globally throughout the forum.

- Each reply in a specific thread takes away 1 rep point

ex. If i have 20 rep points, i have enough to be able to reply in a specific thread. When I do, the [HIDE] displays after responding and my reputation point decreases by 1, giving me a total of 19 rep points. If I try to reply to a specific thread again, it will say I don't have enough rep points to do so, until someone gives me another rep point.


Is this possible to do at all?

Click on Download vBulletin, then on the right side click Download vBulletin 3.x.. that will take you to another page with a radio button that says "More Download Options (Use this to access earlier versions of vB and also Alpha/Beta versions if available)"

Once you click to enable that, at the bottom under download you can select the uncompressed javascript package from the drop down menu :)

Simply upload the javascript files in the clientscript directory, make the modifications and away you go.

We have installed this hack but when I post something that should only be visible to the administrators group, moderators can see it too. And I've checked the usergroup specific settings for the Moderators group - Can Always See Hidden Content is No

Any ideas?

Have question (may be was asked already?) - There is option "Show hidden always" but I want it to work ONLY with [hide] content BUT NOT wit [showtogroups] or [stu] content. I have usergroup which need to get access to [hide] but be not able to see content hidden to other usergroups or users.
