Planet Earth is the newest of my very few dark styles. This style features -
optimized for postbit_legacy
separated categories
95% original images
valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional (http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tbdstyles.com%2Findex.php%3Fstyleid%3D37&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0)PREVIEW (http://www.tbdstyles.com/index.php?styleid=37)
Installation Instructions -
Click on the "Install" button on the right of this post, then download the zip file to your computer and extract it (I put it on my desktop, it's easier to remember where I put it!).
Open your ftp client to your server. Go to your forum's images folder, open it, and create a styles folder.
Next, upload the earth folder via FTP to your server, into your forum's styles folder, so that your image path is images/styles/earth/buttons, for example.
After you've uploaded the folder, open your admin control panel on your forum, and import the xml file, by going to Styles & Templates > Download / Upload styles > Import Style XML File.
Click on the Browse button, locate the earth-style.xml, and double-click it so that it loads in that box, then hit the Import button. The zip file contains a blanks folder with 2 blank buttons in PNG format, for easy editing. No psd's are available.

Attempting to use this and it is very nice but cannot seem to get the nav bar working correctly. I use vb_advanced and have the other themes converted to switch back and forth from the frontpage to the forum. Not sure where or how to code the buttons. I added the same code from the other themes. The drop downs under community work fine. What am I missing? Do I need to create something image wise?

I'm sorry that you couldn't get it to work. The navbar is just a default navbar, nothing special, no coding or anything.
I use vba cmps myself, and it works fine for me.

Yikes, I've not had that problem. I'm hoping that's in a template. I'll look into it and see what I can find.

I just updated it there too hun. I'm just not having this issue. On my preview site, I typed a really long name in a test category and didn't have a problem.

but hey its not that urgent ;) may be its just my computer lol.
EDIT: made the mt-left.gif smaller like you asked and worked thanks ;)

11 Mar 2009, 03:03
Thanks Jaycob :)
I cropped both the left and right category images, and replaced them in the zip file.
I've uploaded a new zip file, in case anyone else is having this issue as well.

there is no logo to edit. You have to make one, and save it either as a transparent gif or PNG. The one I have up there is a PNG

@Ohiosweetheart
the problem with long forum name is that when ever a user used a low resolution that problem occur..
but if you used a high resolution from 1153x864 up to 1440x900 there is no problem viewing a long forum name..
look below the difference..
800x600 resolution
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=96308&stc=1&d=1236830740
1440x900 resolution
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=96309&stc=1&d=1236830740
i hope you see the differnce :D

@ above, actually Ohiosweetheart and i have been discussing the resolution on her site a few days ago. i just made the 2 images really small and works fine ;)

of course I see the difference
Thanks
After Jaycob and I talked about this on my site, I cropped the two end category images and it seems to work fine now. This was one time I didn't look at the end result on my smaller res monitor. That'll teach me.

Ohiosweetheart I really love the theme. Probably one of the best I've seen. Very simple and clean looking. I have implemented it on my VB Forum, and it looks great.
One thing though. Is there a way to make it non fluid?
Ohiosweetheart
12 Mar 2009, 21:03
This style is designed to be a fluid style. But you can change the % to just 900 or 800 or whatever in Stylevars. I don't know how it will look tho.
BigPete7978
12 Mar 2009, 21:13
Yeah I changed it. As long as the titles/categories aren't too long then it looks fine. But I can't seem to get the + signs (the ones that make the categories collapse) to become not fluid haha. Any ideas?

I made my own logo.
But how can I get it to be centered?
The logo centered cause it seems to be leaning to the left.

Hi great style. Thanks for releasing.
I do have one problem that was pointed out to me by an eagle eyed member. On the forum view pages the post and thread bits are the wrong way round :( it read left to right as "Post" "thread" where as it should be the other way round. As a result it displays a forum as having more threads than posts.
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi thanks for getting back to me. If you go to my site with this style here http://www.called2duty.com/forum.php?styleid=2
And have a look just under the Headquarters catagory. Along the top you have.
Forum_______________Last post______Post____Thread
It should be ( I believe )
Forum_______________Last post______Thread____Post
As a result a room shows up as having more threads than posts. Hope that is clearer :)

Just noticed a nasty thing, furthermore it's a nice template
When you integrate the forums into vBA and only use a right colum with contents, then the Collapse image isn't positioned in the category anymore.
Ohiosweetheart
22 Jun 2009, 13:23
That's something that I've not been able to find a solution for.
Sorry
The solution (roughly)
Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------
It works in this way on my forums either in FF as in IE, only I forgot the exact width to space.
Example: http://www.ravenforums.com
btw, I hope you dont that I'm slightly modifying the template to my taste and towards the purpose of the site. Your credits will remain if you've placed them, else pm me the details.
is there an update ...it will not install on my 3.8.3
Ohiosweetheart
25 Jun 2009, 02:21
No there's not, but it will install. When you go to import the xml, where it says ignore style version, select yes.
It works just fine on 3.8.3.

Thanks, and the template looks great which is why I'm trying to figure this out.

You must upload earth into images/styles/ on your server.

Whoa, thanks for the quick reply.
That fixed it. :) I had them uploaded to the /images folder, because that's where a previous style I had installed required them to be. I just assumed it was the same.
Thank you.

Go to forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost. Find the following:
Code:

Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.

Edit the pixels to a higher amount if you use a fixed style (ie. 150px).
