Need to limit read only access to forumdisplay only - Not Showthread

Hello everyone,

Right now if I limit a usergroup to read only for a forum it allows them to read the "forum display" and the "showthread" outputs.

I need to limit the user to "forum display" only.

Can someone please enlighten me on how to do so.
