Possible to integrate it on forumhome and forumdisplay?

The Who's Chatting feature is integrated on forumhome when one or more users are in the chat room and the feature is enabled. There is also a link. There are also multiple options for navigation links; however no specific tie-in to the forumdisplay templates - suggestions are always welcome :)

I am interested in this app if I can use it much like a shoutbox at the top of my forums page. It would need to mirror the account activity of a user, i.e. if they visit the site with a persistent login, they should also automatically be logged into the chat system.

Answer to the error posted earlier on the memcached error:

1. Killed Memcached proccess, error persisted.

2. Tested conflicts with hacks, no conflicts

3. Googled deep error results, returned the below nugget:

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?76649-Unable-to-add-cookies-header-already-sent&p=492846&viewfull=1#post492846

created new config.php, uploaded, chat works fine.

Root Cause: White space in doc. During past VB Upgrades carried over last config.php and never updated file.

Grim77
17 Jan 2010, 14:54
@kylek - Yes, it's possible - but apparently overlooked. I've added it to our development to-do list for the next minor update :)

@fishmaster - Glad you got it sorted out! :)

@Rafes - Absolutely. You'll find this option in the AddonChat AdminCP menu. It should be enabled by default. Popup links do require JavaScript, and if JavaScript is disabled users will be taken to the embedded page. The link on the main forum page next to the Who's Chatting list does link to the embedded page, but could be edited if you wanted to make it a popup link - I believe the link there is in the Phrases, and the popup link code itself can be found in the Templates.

@CrosseyedGamer - Good question. Right now, there is nothing in the plugin that accommodates this out of the box; however it wouldn't be too difficult to use the supplied AddonChat Who's Chatting code in a CMS block. Settings -> Site Integration -> Who's Chatting from your AddonChat control panel . Use the internal frame link method and copy/paste the code where you need it. This isn't recommended for heavy traffic sites, but should work for most. This plugin essentially caches who's chatting data such that users don't have to wait for a web service call to complete - the Who's Chatting link code in your AddonChat control panel is real-time.

Over the years, ive tried lots of chat apps, including flashchat, irc, wibya etc, but find addonchat more then exceeds my expectations.

Easy to use, configure, and administer.

Whilst not free ( if you want the extra features ), its pound for pound, money well spent.

Keep up the good work :)

Too costly. One time charge would've been nice but perpetual yearly fee for anything but the free version is too pricey.

The Free version has very little administrative controls.

Cort
22 Jan 2010, 00:45
I agree - why a yearly charge for a chat room? I would be happy to pay a one time extra charge for a really good chat room with a small upgrade fee - but shoveling out $125 a year for a good chat room is a bit much. Do that and over two years you've just paid for a VBulletin Forum and a CMS system.

Don't forget that this chatroom isn't on your server.
I have use before the flashchat but it is installed on the server and use a lot traffic.
If you have a VPS account than a lot of hosters don't accept a chatroom for the heavy load on the server.
I'am use the proffesional edition and it works greet.
It's like if it is installed on you own server.
If I compare it with all the futures I find it cheap

@worried: When enabled, these features provide links within the chat room to a user's blog by right-clicking on that user's name in the user list. There are other right-click commands that can be enabled as well.

Yeah working prefect without any problem. How should i install who's chatting.

Grim77
25 Jan 2010, 05:27
@OmekaTeam: This is most likely caused because you have not uploaded all of the files properly. Please ensure that all of the files in the upload/ folder (within the ZIP file) are uploaded correctly to your main forum folder.

@cagbaazee: Regarding Who's Chatting, it should automatically be installed and can be enabled/disabled from the AddonChat settings page in the VB ACP. You may need to have a Pro account (haven't tested it with the free edition - a Pro+ account with RAS enabled provides a bit faster updates) or higher; but more importantly, make sure someone is logged in to the chat room before testing it. I don't believe the box appears on the main forum page unless a user is logged in. You may also notice (depending upon your configured settings) that a bracket indicating how many users are currently in the chat room appears next to chat room links within the forum/CMS.

Too costly. One time charge would've been nice but perpetual yearly fee for anything but the free version is too pricey.

The Free version has very little administrative controls.

I recently moved over from flashchat.. and now use the professional PLUS version of addonchat. This is one of the best moves i have made since starting my forum site.

the flashchat product.. while a very affordable $5 is hosted on your own server and requires a database hit each and every message... which was making my entire site drag.
add on chat however is hosted by addonchat and the chat room almost never lags unless people are posting a lot of images... ive had as many as 65 people in one room chatting up a storm and zero lag....

flashchat.. anything more than 25-30 people and it would just about shut my entire site down... 15-20 seconds to load the home page! (maybe there are some methods of speeding up flashchat that im unaware of). but my site flies since the change

the addonchat $125 per year is cheaper than purchasing an additional server just to host the flashchat.... addonchat also offers more definitive banning and is more easily customizable. yes it cost more... a lot more... but you get a lot more.
im sure the flashchat works for a lot of people especially the cost factor...heck i used it for over a year. i just think my site suffered because of it.

wanted to share my thoughts on this and thank the coders for this integration mod!

@CLUB AMPLE,

Thank you I'm glad the mod is working well for you. If you have any suggestions, please let me know :)

@Datenpapst,

This isn't really recommended. AddonChat is real-time chat system, and it is not a "shout box" or a simple HTTP/MySQL based interface. The popup method is the preferred way to go (which is an included feature) allowing users to continue browsing your forum while they chat in a separate window. Any secure, real-time based chat system will use a virtual machine of some sort (be it Flash, Java, etc..) and placing such applets on every page throughout your site (e.g., in a header) can be detrimental to the end-user experience. Another nice advantage of using the popup link method is that you can frequently retain visitors in your chat room even after they've navigated away from your site.

i do actually (although most of my suggestions would be for the addonchat software itself... its just missing a couple items that could make user experience that much better..... anyway...

the height and width of the chat room seems to be an issue... i have had a heck of a time getting it to auto expand with browser size, i had to remove the reference to the option in the template and put the 100% value directly on the template.

i had a couple users who still have 800x600 resolution monitors lol i know ... when you pick yourself up off the floor from laughing so hard...
they had bottom portions of the room cut off even when i had it set to 100% on height.. so i settled with 100% width.. and 525 fixed height

and yeah this mod rocks...floating window option and whos chatting is the %$#$

2 other requests...

the option to put a separate background image for the popup chat window... differing from the main sites background....maybe just the option to type in the url.. and have it be placed in the popup template automatically..?? seem possible?

the other question is can we rename the url to something other than

www.mysite.com/addonchat.php?do=popup

a good % of my users can no longer sign on from work.. due to addonchat being blocked by workplace firewalls... so im wondering if we can fool them a bit by changing the url name..

and call it www.mysite.com/whatever.php?do=popup

ps im actually still using the 3.7 version of vbul and this mod.. so the questions apply to that version.. i can post this on that thread if you wish

Hi folks,

Sorry for the late response; I've been out ill for the last couple weeks. Any critical issues (well, any questions at all!) can always be addressed to support@addonchat.com for a faster response.

@Club Ample:
It's getting harder and harder to support people using antique computers; especially when it comes to screen resolution :) A fixed height is often the suggested way to go. Depending on which version of HTML is in use, a 100% height may not work at all. The popup template included uses an HTML version that does support 100% height tables, divs and applets. It should work, but some browsers like to do things their own way.
With respect to the URL name, it can be changed, but isn't that easy to do without a lot of edits. We decided against going with something like "chat" to reduce the possibility of software conflicts. Regardless, the firewall issue is probably not related to the file name in the URL, but the applet domain name. Some work environments have very strict firewalls which ban popular application service providers by host name and IP address. Besides the use of a proxy (which are probably banned as well) the best course of action is talk to the company IT manager.

@blackxero:
IP Bans can be edited and deleted from your control panel at addonchat.com. From your account control panel, click over to Users -> IP Bans. This will allow you to remove a banned IP address. As for cookie bans, these are intended to be a bit more permanent. You'll have to instruct the user who was banned to remove any cookies in the addonchat.com domain.

@THE_TECH:
The most common issue here is that you entered your customer account number (beginning with RC) instead of the AddonChat account number (beginning with SC), the second most common issue is that automatic lookup may have failed because CURL is not installed on your server. Automatic lookup isn't necessary to set up the software, but it does make it slightly more convenient. Either way, we'll be more than happy to help. Simply e-mail support@addonchat.com to open a support ticket. Please provide us with your account number and access to your vBulletin ACP and we'll be happy to set up everything for you, including remote authentication :)

The only thing I see here as "integration" is a "Remote authentication" using vbulletin username into a JAVA based chat, a solution which is more bad than a flash based chats....

What version do you need to purchase to make it look as if the chat window is intergrated as it appears in the second attachment?

Grim77
13 Feb 2010, 04:16
Kat00,

You're correct, the chat software does embed on its own vBulletin page as an option. Any edition, including the free edition, will permit this. A number of features are missing from the free edition and a product logo is shown, but the free edition still provides basic, real-time chat service and permits unlimited concurrent users.

It looks like you've opted for the popup link instead of the embedded link. While this the default and recommended option, you can change the link to point to the embedded page from the AddonChat menu in your vBulletin ACP. :) If you'd like further help with this, please let me know or feel free to email support@addonchat.com

Silly question, but in your products menu, is the product enabled? If not, make sure you enable it. It should be enabled by default.

The other more likely possibility is that all of the included files weren't uploaded, or were not uploaded to the correct location. Please double check that all of the files in the included upload/ folder are in their correct (corresponding) place; especially the upload/admincp/addonchat.php file and the includes/xml/cpnav_addonchat.xml file.

No problem grim.. thanks for the full explanation on everything..... that is what i figured with respect to the firewall.. common chat programs are probably all blocked.... one of the other reasons i wanted to change it was for branding purposes... id rather have it say amplechat.. than addonchat

Are you using the embedded version? If you're using the popup version, does a blank popup appear, or..? The links should be identical unless you've customized them. Either way I'd like to take a closer look. If you could e-mail support@addonchat.com attn:Chris and provide a test user account it would allow us to track down and correct any problems quickly.

Regarding your SEO question, we've already have a couple requests for this and it will be implemented in the next minor update. We have one other integration script in front of us before we start adding the latest customer requests and issue another update :)

I don't mind if ya add it. I will see if I can do this right.

This isn't much of a mod but it will hide the chat room link in the navbar and navmenu for unregistered users and puts Register links in there place which is actually pretty handy since some don't seem to ever see the default register link in the top right of the header. It also changes the onClick to onclick to help with validating with W3C.

It is only two template changes.

First you want to go to Admincp -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> and then choose edit templates from the drop down of your style you want to change.

Double click on the AddonChat Templates >>

The first template you want to edit is addonchat_nav_link

Replace all of what is in the template with this:

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

The other template you want to edit is addonchat_nav_menu_link

Replace all of what is in the template with this:

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.

Anyone having issues with a Java update not installing properly and causing the chat room to not work?

I got the plugin graphic and click it to install the latest version of Java, but the process didn't work or so it said it didn't work. I did a manual install and now the chatroom works, but it pops up a screen saying it wants to use an older version of Java. Anyone else have this problem? I'm trying to figure out what to tell people on the forum that are having problems connecting to chat.

Hi Troy,

I have seen this happen before when upgrading very old versions of Java. AddonChat requires Java 1.5 (or Java 5 as it is more commonly referred) which is now fairly old technology actually - about 5 years I think.

An offline (manual) installation is usually the way to go; making sure that all browser windows are closed before a user begins the offline installation. In the rare cases that this does not work we usually advise users to uninstall any version of Java they may have installed. Usually this can be done (in Windows) via the control panel add/remove programs utility.

People using virtually antique machines - I.e., Windows 95 running IE 4 or something may have an older Microsoft Virtual Machine (MVM) installed which can be disabled from their Advanced browser settings. We don't see much of this anymore though ;)

Bug found?
I'm using the .httaccess file on my forums and if I'm on any other page then the index.php page I get a page not found screen in the pop-up window for the chat room as its trying to pull the url.

Meaning, if I'm viewing a thread its trying to open:
url.com/forums/addonchat.php?do=popup&

If I click on the link while on a post page I get:
url.com/threads/addonchat.php?do=popup&

etc, etc.

This also happens with the other links for the chatroom... :(

I love this chat... it integrates very well.
And the price is very good! Think at, this is only something like 10$ in a month. For this money, you don't get a dedicated Server, only a vServer... and the most Hosters of vServer don't allow chats... so it's great, that the Addonchat is hosted by themself.

Well, now that I'm trying it. I understand it's not a shoutbox in your mind. But it doesn't matter. What matters is how it integrates in a community. Users don't care if a product is supposed to be a shoutbox or a full blown chat: as long as it answers their need.

For my community, my users need is when they come into my forum, they need to see the forumhome/below the navbar. That's what makes them want to chat. Without that, I cannot use this module.

Version 4.0.1 of the AddonChat Product for vBulletin 4.0.x is now online. The following updates have been made:

Updated Link Code
Support for AddonChat Mobile Edition (iPhone, iPod Touch, etc..)
SSL Support (Automatic Detection)
Easy AddonChat control panel access via the vBulletin AdminCP
vBulletin CMS Widget (Optional)
Pop-up Links now hidden for unregistered users when guest access is disabled.
Language additions

Users upgrading from the previous (v4.0.0) version of this module need only read the included UPGRADING.TXT file to get started. All of your current settings will be preserved during the update.

Instructions for setting up the vBulletin CMS widget (which displays the amount of users chatting and a pop-up link to your chat room) can be found in the included README.TXT file.

Both the Mobile Edition and SSL modules are currently in Beta, but trials can be requested by e-mailing support@addonchat.com. They should be released by the end of June, with additional mobile devices to be supported soon.

vilhiem: There is both an audible and popup alert option that can be enabled as a default within the control panel and/or directly by the end-user; however there is currently no mechanism in Java to enable direct control over the end user's window manager, such as flashing the task bar.

Hello. Thank you for the update. I just upgraded everything to 4.0.1 and I tried logging into the chat w/ my iPhone and it didn't work. :(

I clicked on the chat room, then I got a 2nd page that said "click to start Chat Room." I clicked and it went to a 3rd page that said "connecting" and then it blanks out, disappears, and goes back to the "click to start chat room" (2nd page) screen. Any ideas?

Our forum has scheduled chats and I'm often "on the road" so it'd be nice to be able to participate via my phone. I'm so happy to see this update, but so far it doesn't work for me. I would appreciate any help. :)

I am looking for some documentation on ways to integrate this.

For example, using the vbulletin cms, if I created an article/static html page for a specific chat event, could this be embedded into the page or is it always on a single stand alone page that cannot be edited to show anything else?

More specifically, if I want to create a static HTML page and embed a ustream live event, can I embed addon chat right next to it? Then, when I do a different live show next week, create a new page and do the same thing?

Grim77
28 Jun 2010, 16:16
@reefland:

Yes, you can.

This mod, as-is, provides for integration on either the chat room's own page or a popup page, and there is also a CMS widget for a popup link + who's chatting display (see the included README.TXT file for instructions)

You can also add the chat room code manually to any CMS page, and it can be combined with whatever other content you'd like (such as ustream). The easiest way I know of to do this would be to create your own Static HTML Widget (vBulletin CMS -> Widgets) and add the HTML code manually. Your AddonChat link code can be found in the AddonChat control panel or in the original e-mail you should have received when first registering for the service.

If you run into any snags settings this up, feel free to e-mail support@addonchat.com for assistance.

Guys I have found a real nasty bug in this mod :(!

If you have the chat room enabled and you edit any of your Defualt Usergroup permissions for some strange reason any changes that you make to your Defualt Usergroup settings are not saved to your Default Usergroup. But instead under the Custom Usergroup heading your settings are saved here under the usergroup that you edited.

For example it took me some trial and error to figure out which plugin was causing this and now my Custom Usergroups is full of usergroups because of this mod! So i am not very happy about this and I would appreciate how I can remove all these user groups from under the Custom Usergroup heading.

I realize I can just click on the drop down arrow on the right hand side and select Delete Usergroup. But this won't delete the ID number it has used from the Database will it? As I want to be able to remove the number from the database as well.

For example if I delete the new usergroups that this mod has created from Id: 9 right up until id: 24. How can I get the next custom usergroup I create to start from from id: 9 again when I add a custom usergroup in the future?

http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k94/CybaGirl/software/issues/usergroups-1.jpg

So word of warning if you use this mod. Make sure you disable it first before you make any changes to any of your user groups! Otherwise you will have the same issue that I am now facing.

Guys I have found a real nasty bug in this mod!

Not likely. I'm not able to reproduce this, and such a bug would have been reported a long time ago.

But instead under the Custom Usergroup heading your settings are saved here under the usergroup that you edited.

Something else must be the problem. This mod simply adds permission bits using vBulletin's standard XML file. vBulletin controls everything else. We've been doing this since v3.5 and have never had a report of this issue.

To be sure (though I'm certain our users have tested this thousands of times) I installed vBulletin 4.0.3PL1 (same as you) and edited a few default usergroup settings. After saving, no other usergroups were added. Just for fun, I also tested editing of custom usergroups and no bugs showed up.

For example it took me some trial and error to figure out which plugin was causing this and now my Custom Usergroups is full of usergroups because of this mod! So i am not very happy about this and I would appreciate how I can remove all these user groups from under the Custom Usergroup heading.

I suggest you check your other mods - all of them, including any code/hook modifications you may have manually made. From your screenshot, I see you're running v3arcade (which is still in alpha) -- and the thread at http://www.v3arcade.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3301 seems to indicate they have at least one usergroup setting issue.

CybaGirl

Thanks for getting back to me.

But I if I disable all the other mods and just have the chat room enabled and make a change to a usergroup. Then the usergroup changes that I made are not saved to the original usergroup. But instead are saved and added to the Custom Usergroups and another ID number is used as shown in the image above.

Where as if I disable the chat room and enable all the other mods including V3Arcade and make changes to my usergroup(s) I do not have this issue and the changes that I made are saved to the original usergroup(s). As per how they are meant to be.

This is how I came to the conclusion that the chat room mod is the thing that is causing this issue.

That usergroup setting you are refering to in the thread over at v3arcade is only related to being able to view and play disabled games and has nothing to do with changes being made to the default usergroups. As I have looked into this already.

So any other suggestions you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Grim77
30 Jun 2010, 17:30
@CybaGirl

We may be able to assist by looking at what mods you have installed and what hooks they are using. One possibility I suppose is that there is a hook being used when saving usergroups that could be causing the problem.

If you really want to find the culprit, you'd need to uninstall all of your mods (or preferably, setup a separate installation for testing only) then install the mods one at a time, starting with AddonChat. The only reason I suggest starting with AddonChat is that the code has been in use for a long time and it is not an alpha release mod. Make sure the usergroup editing works properly (if it doesn't, then there is definitely something else wrong) then add your mods one by one, starting with mods that modify the usergroup privileges as one of these is the one most likely causing the problem.

Edit: If you'd like us to take a look, please e-mail support@addonchat.com with the necessary login details attn: Chris

curious - are we able to add private chat rooms that are invitation only and not dependent on usergroup settings?

Grim77
30 Jun 2010, 19:58
@Footman: Well, you can allow users to create their own rooms (subrooms) within the chat room, and allow them to password protect them - then they can easily invite other users (using IMs in the chat room or from within the forum) to the room they've created. Usergroup integration would not be needed to do this.

Thanks Grim - Only available with the Pro and above correct? I'm testing the chat with my forum now as a free one. Not a very busy forum yet, but with time it will grow. I can see some of the functions of the Pro version will be needed so eventually I'd prolly go ahead an upgrade.

Thanks Chris for getting back to me.

I will look at setting up a separate installation as per your suggestion. As I think this would be easier. Just have to find out what the rules are about this and how it is best done. I would really like to know what is going on and what is causing it. As I am the kind of person that wants to fix things when something goes wrong or doesn't work the way that it should :) .

As for the mods I have installed here is the current list. Not everything is enabled though and the banner rotator mod was left over from the upgrade from v3.8.5 to v4.0.3. This was the only mod installed when the forum was operating on v3.8.5. All the other mods you see listed have only been installed since the upgrade to version 4.0.3 as I have only been recently appointed the new administrator after the other fellow could no longer maintain the forum anymore.

http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k94/CybaGirl/software/issues/plugins-1.jpg

I did some more testing last night before I went to bed and I enabled the mods as you see them enabled in the above image. I then disabled the Chat Room and made a change to one of the Default Usergroups. I then saved the change and the change was saved to the Default Usergroup as per normal. I then enabled the Chat Room, made a change to the same Default Usergroup and saved the change. That's when this change was saved under a new ID number under the Custom Usergroup.

So maybe there is a conflict with one of the other mods. But I am unsure as to which one it is. As I disabled them one by one and it didn't make any difference. The only difference was when I disabled the Chat Room.

Anyway I will contact you via your email address and I am hoping we can work out what is causing this issue one way or the other.

Thanks.

I have one q though - If you go to my home page www.systemsfortraders.com you will see my forum is in between 2 side banners always - But the chat room is on a fresh page - without the banners - it is sized ok (i have managed that) so it will fit if I can get it in the right place - the between 2 side banners location instead of on a fresh page without any banners.

Any help greatly appreciated, please keep it simple if possible as I am not very techie :)

And ... $125 is not a lot for this considering functionality, support, ease of installation and use - assuming I can get the above issue sorted :)

Thanks,

Anyone know how to put the Who's Chatting into a Forum Block? I saw the CMS Widget info but am more interested in a forum block (everyone hangs at the forum on my site...CMS is not even turned on yet).

This would also let me ditch the current Who's Chatting in the WGO box as it is formatted terribly and looks out of place.

Is the Widget constrained to the Pro + edition ?

For several upgrades your plugin isn't lining up with the rest of the What's Going On section. It's to the left of everything else and the text is wrapping. Can you upgrade your plug-in now vB has moved to 4.1?

I ran into the same thing. Toss this in your additional.css file and adjust to your liking. I am sure there is a better way but this shoves the Whos Chatting over to the right and then adjusts the online users back to the left. **sigh** Seems silly but it is the only way I could get it to work. Someone else may have a better fix without having to push the online forum members back over? This works though! :)

No problem! It was a pain (for me anyway) to get things shifted around......no need for you to suffer also. ;) You may have to tweak some of the margins a little for your forum.

I apologize if this has been covered before.

I'm using vb 4.1.2.

Everything seems to be working perfectly except for two things...

1. I've checked usergroup settings and have allowed guests to chat but not create rooms. If I logout of my board and visit the chat, the icon to add a room is still there and I'm able to add a room.

2. Who's Chatting display does not align with the rest of What's Going On? See attachment.

Is there a way to fix the above two items?

Thanks, in advance.

I did my own fix for the above post:

Edit template addonchat_who
Just delete what's in that template and replace it with the following;

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

Now mine looks like the included attachment...

Is there a way to create a widget that displays who is in chat?

A few questions.

1. Is there any way to adjust the setting so that user stats are picked up a little faster? Yesterday I was testing out the chatroom with a few members and the "Who's Chatting" box didn't update for at least 5 minutes. Same goes for the navbar "Chat Room (4)."

2. This looks great in FireFox. However, the same cannot be said of Explorer. When I open up the Chatroom in Explorer, the chat box is smaller and there's a big white block with vbseo (SEO mod I have installed) copyright information. Is there way to prevent the footer copyright info from being picked up like that in Explorer? This is not an issue in FireFox as the footer copyright info doesn't even show up in that browser.

Thank you for your assistance.

Overall, are you guys that are using this happy with it? I'm a FlashChat user and the new version doesn't work on my VB4 forum, and with the lack of support from the author I'm going to make the switch.

I'm trying the free version, and my navbar tab doesn't update, it always stays at 1. Other than that, with how much my users love the chat room I'm about to plunk down the $80 for the standard version, but would like some feedback.

I also don't have a Who's Chatting box at all - what hook location is it inserting at? (My skin is heavily modified)

There is currently no limit to the amount of concurrent users with the free edition. :)

I'm getting something about not being in a room and i cant create a room as in the CP it says This feature is available with Professional service accounts and higher.

so is their a default room or is this NOT a free product anymore!

There is a Chat Lobby which is a default room. Make sure you've got the settings correct.

vBulletin User Authentication & Automatic Login should be something like:

Enable vBulletin Authentication: No (useless you've bought PRO+ or Enterprise)
Authentication URL: http://www.mydomain.com/addonchat_auth.php
Allow Unregistered Guest Access: No
Enable Automatic Login: Yes

Click Update to authenticate.

You're missing the image, which is making the alt text appear. Verify you have all images/files in the correct directories for all styles (default and custom) and try again

Please help...

I'm trying to install this chat, followed all the instructions, but I cant pass step 4:

1. Upload the files in your upload/ folder to their appropriate locations
2. Using the VB product manager, import the product-addonchat.xml product
3. Click over to AddonChat -> Account Settings in your vBulletin AdminCP
4. Enter your AddonChat account number and password and click 'Automatic
Lookup' If required (allow_url_fopen is not set for example) please
adjust your 'Account Details' and save.
5. Modify forum integration and authentication settings to suit your needs
6. If vBulletin authentication is enabled, you may modify chat room

This is a great product and I am running this without any problems on my vBulletin 4.1.11 site.

I decided to fix a few problems with this addon. First, the product here is the old version. Go here to download the updated 4.0.2 version.

http://www.addoninteractive.net/index.php?/topic/4072-vbulletin-4-integration/

FIX #1
The Who's Chatting in the WGO area on the forum home page is causing a XHTML validation error because it is using that same CSS ID wgo_onlineusers that was already defined earlier.

To fix this, you need to call this something different and add it to your Additional.css template. So I added this to my Additional.css template:

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

Now go to the addonchat_who template and change wgo_onlineusers to wgo_onlinechatusers, as shown in red below. This will fix the XHTML validation error.

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

FIX #2
The comma is missing that separates the usernames who are chatting. I tried many ways to get it to display with no luck. {vb:raw row.comma} didn't work. I simply added an actually comma just before the closing </li> in the addonchat_loggedinuser template and it worked. LOL

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

FIX #3
Note: If you are using the stock vbulletin style AND/OR have not added any custom css to your additional.css template, then you do not have to do this fix.

The addonchat.php page where the chat room is embedded is not using my additional.css template, which caused my custom footer and other customization not to show correctly. To fix this, simply add what I have in red in the addonchat_embed template just above the closing head tag.

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

Hope this helps! Maybe i can get a free year from the developer, when my renewal comes up. ;)

Hi, i've installed the module and purchased the Proffesional plus edition (with added mobile support and avatars) and i'm running into a problem when trying to integrate my forum with the chat module.

I'm running a hebrew speaking forum and for the users that have Hebrew characters in their nicknames the chat says that they have inputted a wrong username/password. This also happens when i disable the automatic login and they need to type it in themselves. For my users who have english characters the login goes normally. Can i fix this somehow?

Additionally i'm having some problems with my avatars:

When the avatar display is on for users, the whole line of the sentence moves to the left. If they are off it is on the right (as it should be for hebrew :) ), i'm pretty sure this could be fixed through the control panel and i think i found where but i'm not really knowledgable in how to define the values there and i'd like to get some help.

The second problem is that the avatar link between the forum and the chat doesn't work, so when i have this on there is a blank instead of an avatar. I'll post some print screens to show my problems.

Thanks for your help :)

Regarding the hebrew character names, when i try to test the script (as explained here http://support.addoninteractive.com/index.php/Knowledgebase/Article/View/16/8/remote-authentication-protocol-v21-comprehensive) this is what i get (printscreen).

Because the navbar has changed. You can still direct link to it or add a sub-menu link for it.
