View Full Version : vBadvanced 4.0 Portal Tab link brought to you by vBHispano
This addon is for forums that have installed vBadvanced 4.0+ www.vbadvanced.com
Now that vBadvanced has been released in beta vesión, I needed to add a tab to the portal so I made this plugin to do it.
Some of the code in this plugin is from the vBAdvanced module Site Navigation, so credits goes for vBAdvanced for some of the code I used.
You can see the announcement about the vBadvanced release here:
http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38714
This product only works with vB 4.0.1+, you also need 4.0.1 installed to use vBadvanced 4.0 beta 1.

Sigh. This is why I need to read before taking actions.
Basically, I "read" this post like "What is this suppose to be.. meh" and closed it. Then I go and install vBadvanced, and was getting irritated I couldn't find out how to add a home/portal button. After like 30 minutes of googling and searching, my memory says "Didn't you just read a thread that has a portal button for vba" -___-.
Thanks for the great little product. Saved me from an even bigger headache lol.

Open the xml and look for "Portal" then replace with "Home" (probably, not tested) :D

I want to use this hack, but it replaces the default vBulletin navigation links with links to each of my pages. Can you make a version that only adds the blue navigation button but keeps the default vB links?

Thanks but I dont understand the purpose if I cannot enable my vBulletin CMS 4.0.2 / Content Management System .. It seems to have Home/Home twice on the screen. Is there away I can enable CMS with vbA and not have so many un-highlighted tab links for home? (looks bad when using "New Navbar (2)Tabs".. .. also am I suppose to rename "cmps_index.php?pageid=home" to index.php?=home?

There is no need for this mod. vBAdvanced has its own navbar link tab. Check in the options in your admincp. Or see my writeup on the vbadvanced site. This fixes any scripting issue with the right tab highlighted.

I installed this on my test forum this morning, I have a portal tab, but when I use it I'm just taken back to the forum home page. The same page the forum tab takes you to?
I don't see any admin area so I assume it's just a permissions issue??
I'm running 4.0.6 CMS but I turned off the CMS like may have done lately. I just wanted a portal page like I had before. vBPortal is out of business and not compatible with the new version.
So where do I find the admin section for this plug-in?
Thanks

Or is this just the plug-in to make a tab?
Where is the portal then?

hello, I think that I am the first to report this problem because it only appears when we click facebook connect button on the portal page:
Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------
will appear and then after 2 to 3 seconds it will redirect the user to logged in.
For IE browsers it is a white debug screen with the above error. For chrome, safari and firefox, it shows the redirect page plus this debug message above.
Please let me know how to solve this. I confirm is due to your plugin because when I uninstall it, I can still use facebook connect without these debug messages:
Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------
appearing.
Anyone please help. Thank you. My forum is http://webadvforum.com this problem only happens when you click facebook connect logging in, not for first time registration. This problem do not happen for other pages like webadvforum.com/forum etc.

You don't need this with vba. vba already has this feature built in. I'm using vba's right now.

Is this just a dynamic link that links to the home page when you are in the forums and links to the forums when you are in the home page? If so there is some simple code that can be added to the navbar to do this for the tabs.. A VB mod was nice enough to give it to me.. It is very similiar to the code used for the dynamic links in the standard navbars..
if anyone wants it let me know... This mod makes things easy though with no template edit..

As has been mentioned several times, vBAdvanced already has a built-in navbar tab, you just need to activate it in the settings.
There's no need to use an additional mod or template edits.

I know how to add links to the navigation module, but how do you add tabs to the top of the site using vbadvanced??
How do I get it to not show the "Hompage" sub menu link?

This mod is not needed for the vBadvanced 4.0 Portal because vBadvanced 4.0 has it already built into it.
Admin CP => vBa CMPS => Edit Pages => Homepage => Add Navbar Link

I think its something wrong because when I do that it highlights forums tab instead of homepage tab.
