You can prevent someone from reloading pages over and over to flood your server.

see it in action, but how did they do that!

Just a wild guess, but either cookies, or using some sort of rewrite.....

The board sets a "bblastvisit" last visit cookie that forcies you to wait 10s before going to the next part of the vB; any browser that disallows cookies will be able to bypass this sort of protection.

It is set automatically every time someone loads a vbulletin page.
