PPN on this board requested that we hide member info (that is, ICQ, AIM, e-mail form, etc.) from unlicensed members and guests.

Before we do this (if at all), I'd like to hear your views.
I'm sure you have some. :)

Yes. It helps prevent would be pirates from contacting members seeking a license or assistance that they can't get legitimately on the board.

em i agree :D surprise there heh

definately the way forward stop people from pestering liscenced members asking us to download hacks for them.
Would it be viable to stop them from using the email function to cause I've been contacted by that a couple of times and its started to get annoying so i turned off the email feature but I wouldn't mind liscenced users being able to view my email in my profile.

definitely icq/aol/etc but not so sure about the link to email. there are people browsing around here who might want to contact someone about something other than vb.

how about letting users decide in the usercp if they want their email shown to guests.

Ok, so we all agree to hide ICQ / AIM / etc. info.

What about e-mail?
Let users choose between letting these members use the mail form, or just see the e-mail?
I'm a bit confused. :)

Just add another radio button in the usercp > options with Show email to guest/ unliscenced members. Then they can make the decision to show email or not then and then below it to show email to unliscenced members or not.

If you want i'll whip up some code for you, well most of it you'll have to do the bit which deals with the checking if there liscenced or not unless you care to explain how :P

$bbuserinfo[liscenced] ?? :D

Sure, that would really help me. :)

Not that I don't know how (hey, I got a reputation to keep :p), but I'm just very busy so anything will help. :)

The way I see it, if people WANT to share their contact info with guests, they can always include it in their signatures. :D

Not sure if this subject is dead or not, but just in case, I vote for yes...

Ok, ICQ / AIM / Yahoo informaion is now only viewable for licensed users.

The other thing will take a while, be patient please. :)

I just added the stuff for hiding your e-mail as well.
I'm not sure it works, because I can't really log out of this place :o, so if someone can test this it would be great. :)

I logged out, tried to email you by clicking on the email button and got the not logged in screen.
