View Full Version : News Portal
Hey,
I need a news portal for my website. I have looked at vbPortal (I think thats its name) but it costs USD$30 and I need to buy the vB through their link (but I have already paid for it).
Is there any other good ones out there that are free or low in price?
I have talked to FireFly about the portal of this site, but it also costs a bit too much for me :(.
I have looked through the forum via the search thingy, but I didn't really see anything.
Thanks for your help :),
Alan

vbPortal is free, memebers forums is what you pay for, the install instructions are easy enought to follow, so you may not need to pay, but its worth it in my opnion
yeah, i saw that, but its only free if you want the bugy version 2 that they are no longer working on. :(

I purchased Chens portal code :)
Its a good alternative to vbportal because it keeps server queries down, and it also has the simplicity I'm looking for ;)

true about the server queries. first host i was on it ran like poo. once i got a desent host it seems to run fine. my board only has about 200 memebers, so the bigger boards might be a problem
/edit i might sound like a paid portals sales man, but im not really lol

this is what is posted at the vBportal website
The current release vbPortal 3.0.7.2 for vBulletin 2.2.x is available in the downloads section. Official support is limited to the phpPortals supporting members forums.
this is the current version, i logged out and could not download, but i paid my $$ and am not sure but the way i read it is to get "support" you need to pay for it. logged out i could not download it, need to be a member - guessing of the site.
not 2 bad a program, work pretty good - will get it going again when i get everything else settled at home and the site.
