View Full Version : Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine™ installed!
Happy April Fool's day! :)
My dear members, I've got some exciting news for you today!
With special written permission from James and John from Jelsoft, Li Hang and Yamanishi Kenji (the original developers of this very gentle system) and the rest of the development for vBulletin 3, we installed today the long awaited Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine?, a system many of you believe didn't exist.
Well ladies and gentlemen, it is here and it's here to stay! For the time being, until you all get the hang of things, we have removed the option to turn off the Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine?, but as things roll it will be put back in.
For those of you who were living on Mars for the last couple of months, here is a brief description of what the Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine? can or cannot do:
As of today, the Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine? will be able to post instead of you, with what the system believes your comment would be. Precise processing of past posts gives the Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine? data to work with. Rough spread sheet of expected human behaviour, combined with the above yields a very accurate response. If one does not have enough posts for data, the Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine? will not reply for that user. Let's assume you have just registered, the system will have no data about your personality and past actions, and posting based on little data would be irresponsible. For what it's worth, in the future you won't be forced to use the Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine?, if you don't like it. Of course, the Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine? requires quite a large amount of memory and strains the server, which is why vBulletin.org has been moved to a new server rack last week. Oh, if one fails to reach the site for whatever reason, please stay calmed and try again at a later time. Low budget forced us to buy a second hand server. :(
That's all for now, I dearly hope you will find the Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine? splendid and helpful, which will make your posting experience more exciting than ever! Just as a final note, the system will not be able to reply to all threads at the beginning, as it's still learning the database and gathering data for each and every one of you (this is the first time the system is faced with such a large base of users, 10,000).
The system was tested thoroughly for more than 3 weeks in closed area, and it's been announced 100% bug-less by the best of Web developers (a press release will issued during the next week).
Oh and before you start asking: The Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine? will only be released with vBulletin 3 as it's dependent of it (we have installed certain hidden features of vB3 here to support it).

Forgive me for not understanding why this is in any way useful or helpful. I don't want a computer posting for me.

Guys....whats today? Use your brains. April 1st.
This was mentioned on vb.com as a key and integral feature of vb3. Nice of them to release it early. ^_^
Look at the calendar folks.
Holy golly it really posted for me in another thread!

This is a great hack. Good job, FireFly.

lol
I really wonder what is so funny about this? From what I've read this is a very delicate system developed exclusively fpr vBulletin, and as Firefly says given with special permission to vB.org, and you laugh? This is big fellas, realise that.

heh i wanna know how you do this type of stuff, like how you get an incoming email to be placed in the database, cuz it seems like it could be modified into an email system like hotmail.

just stumbled over this post here, very nice, hope to see the Auto-Reply Engine as hack for 2.x.
Though there seem to be some problems with german wordings, will there be a true localized version?

Since the Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine™ is released early I will rework it to autostart the vB Board of the Month threads and polls. Should be a piece of cake. So the Boards of the Month will continue........:D

Oh I do have inside info on the price of the Intuitive Auto-Reply Engine™. It will cost $1,809,000 and comes with a specially equiped Sun Fire 15K Server (http://store.sun.com/catalog/doc/BrowsePage.jhtml?cid=48620&parentId=26829) to handle the Server load. :D As you can see the software charges are actually not that bad.
This is of course just the leased licence too. Since it's price is so high the thought of selling an even more expensive Full version never came across Jelsofts mind.

01 Apr 2002, 17:01
Of course its not a wind-up why would it have been discussed so much on vB.com and then implemented here, it truly does exist and its working quite well.

Although I admit at first I thought this was real too...
Great way to celebrate the day!
Almost as good as Google (http://www.google.com/technology/pigeonrank.html) and TheForce (http://www.theforce.net). Better than what we (http://www.fictionalley.org) did (although we did make excellent use of the Birthday hack here (http://www.fictionalley.org/fictionalleypark/forums/forumdisplay.php?&forumid=97).
Thanks, vBulletin! Couldn't do it without you!

lol, this bot is even worst then A.L.I.C.E, that sentence didn't make any sense. How much did this cost again? Does this thing just pick a random person and give them a reply? anyway, I still doubt its for real.
You shouldn't always harp about yellow snow puppies!

This is the most amazing hack I have ever seen! It truly is genious! Who knows, maybe one day the whole board can control itself! Add its own forums, delete members when its pissed off etc....

WoW I Need This NOW
dont we all nice AI on our sites.... *being a dumbass*
I could make this in a month or so with just a few database edits :D
Yes this was a joke. :) Now can people stop PM'ing me about their accounts being hacked? :D
Just let me point out, that your accounts were NOT used in any way. We did not hack your passwords (we can't do that). There was a script that let us post as someone else, that's all.
Anyway, hope you all enjoyed this gag. It was thought of by JamesUS so send him hate-mail, not me. ;) (j/k, don't even think about it)
really? It would probably look like a bunch of IF and ELSE statements then. (actually I'm probably describing what it would look like if I did it, which I could (if this were C++))
this is so amazing.. next WE wont have too eat.. and our stomachs will get a wire stuck in them and connected too a radio ... and once an hour a radiowave will go across and evry1s stomachs will get rejuvinated... and ur ears will be plugged into CDs and CDs will eat them .. and Eskimos will be like WTF

That was funny, everyone was thinking some one else posted for them...Good one Firefly/JamesUS ;)
why do you waste your time by developing such complex module?
Test, if a new thread contains a "?". If so, append automatically a new post containing this icon:
