cool, I added mine.. I'll work on a better one later :D Thanks firefly!
it will clutter the forums. i guarantee it. because i believe people will not obey to the size. plus others will use this for advertising reasons.
we will see.
i'm not a friend of images in sigs, but nakkid is right, we'll see.
vBulletin.org is dangerously nearing the 1,000 hacks milestone!
/me sits down to write one more to fill it :) ^^
plus the security issues...

i love your sig xelation !
Nakkid you are such a wuss (sorry ;), don't kill me).
People wont spam in their signature, as I've mentioned there is literally no spam on these forums anyway compared to other forums! Unless you call putting your forum name in your signature advertising, but what's the harm in that? People already place their forum names with links in their text signatures. And what is this about cluttering the forums? I have seen some people text signatures with a listing of like 20 things! Its not that bad, and most of the people on these forums are webmasters and Vbulletin owners, who know the rules best because they moderate their members ;)

um, I can see what nakkid means, velocd you are already breaking the rules... your sig is over the width limit.

and it's both image as text, which also isn't allowed ;)

I am? ;)
The only text I would have to agree on to be allowed is maybe a quote, or/and just your username. I can't the see the harm of putting your forum name in either.
Xelation, do you take requests for graphics? :D

I'll do it, for free. Although you will have to PM me later tonight when I have more time. I only do non-animated images, and I'll always save them in JPG unless it's larger than 20kb.
..uh, anyway, back on topic.

i didnt want to offend you in any way.
about the security... hmmm i cant debate it, unless i have authorisation from firefly. all i can say is this:
is not recommented to use [img] code because it can open backdoors in your forums.
btw, i will not be surprised to see firefly putting an autoresize image hack, just to make his life easy. :)
edit: Velocd.. look at ULTIMATESSJ's sig (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?postid=264086#post264086). i was right. :)
people dont care, even if they are vB webmasters. firefly should definitelly install the hack.

I charge $25 for animations like this http://www.pcscene.com/alex.gif ( just made this today for someone for $25)
and $10 for sigs with some animation if wanted.
if this is not the place to say this then one of the mods can delete this. :)
Holy crap you charge an arm and a leg! http://localhost/forums/images/smilies/omg.gif
Your current signature animation I could do easily even in Image Ready 7. I guess you gotta make a living somehow though!
j/k, j/k ;)

you get what you pay for, and its not that easy to do animation... takes a while to do the bug sig... this is why I charge so much, just look at the quality I put into my sigs. http://www.xelation.com/sigs.html
hmm. i charge $500 for a logo like the one in top (http://www.vbulletin.org/layout/nakkid.gif) at vb.org. and for a site between 1000$ and 5000$, depending on complexity. i work for a company who delivers me the contract and they take 30% of the price.
sorry to say this Velocd, but can you show us your skills? i think xelation is good with his graphic art. and no offence, but i think is not easy what he did in the alex bug graph there.

People are always breaking the rules, that's why we have moderators.
And besides I don't see anything wrong with his signature... ;)
Anyway, how did this become a discussion about paying for signatures (wtf) and designs? Back on topic. :)
Ok ;) But just let me finish one little tid bit and then we'll get back on topic ^_^

WHA-?? ehh? ahh? $500 for that?? *dies* Looks like I need to get in the imaging business! ;)
Is there a way to set the size limits for images in signatures in the admin cp?

Hi everyone,
Some of you decided they want to use images in signatures, so here goes. I was sure you can already do this, but apparently the[img] code was turned off for sigs.
So, I have turned it on and you can now use images. However, there are some limits. They are, and I quote:
All signatures should not exceed the following size limits, and you can't have both text and images
For text signatures: 4 lines normal size, 8 lines small size and up to 90 chars per line. Font sizes above 2 are not allowed.
For images in signatures: 1 image up to 300 pixels wide, 125 pixels tall and 20k in size(same rules as our big brother, vBulletin.com)
That would be an excellent hack, it could work someway like the width/height avatar hack does. Only problem is it would have to detect the image signature, but still its possible by just looking for the tags.
Does that mean you are going to do it for us then? :)

Awesome! What changed your mind into using images around here, FireFly? I think it rocks. :rambo:
Nothing, actually. It should have been enabled all time, but it wasn't.
Hey Chen. Is this Hermans Signature Limit hack? If so, my congrats goes out to him.

Hehe and for your sigs, Xelation, the car and the mouse [2nd and 3rd ones] both look like they came out of a Flash movie [that was the first thing that came to my mind]. Could I be right?? :cheeky:
Also, did the requestors of the last 3 sigs [the bugs] ask for that? All common requests?? Just wondering

I don't know if this is a "security issue", but images can drop cookies, and I don't like that.
*bump*
I just wanted to bump this thread, and remind all that we have Signature limits here.
We will be more strict in forcing users to shorten their sigs if they are over the limitations, so please look at the rules again, then look at your sig and change it if it's not ok.
Thank you all
It's pinned as suggested. :)

I read the rules, and updated my sig, hope it meets the rules now. sorry for any problems...
image size 300x75 10kb in size..
I don't know what's wrong with mine. :(
There is nothing wrong with yours as far as i can see?
- miSt
Mist, yes there's something wrong with vB code.
The link you see is .png file, and it works with vB 2.2.9 vanilla.
Is it in an [img] tag?
Why not just save the image as a gif then upload it to free webspace and link it :) (it's far easier)
- miSt
It's a dynamic image, Mist.
And yes, it's inside tags.
For some reason it's not being parsed.
vB code removes the tags.
Perhaps because there isn't an extension on the end of the url so it parses it to a url.
Strange

Testing
IMG tag
http://www.seti-stats.de/setistats/teamstats.php?bcolor=128,128,128&tcolor=128,128,128&lng=en&id=104
URL tag
http://www.seti-stats.de/setistats/teamstats.php?bcolor=128,128,128&tcolor=128,128,128&lng=en&id=104
or you have disabled show images as posts ;)
test it on your board, does it work?
if not you should post over at vb.com as bug ?

quick question for you Teck. So would you be against the use of the IMG button as a whole due to backdoor issues?

Yup, it's working fine on several vB's i post, so it is no bug, it is only happening here at vB.org. ;)
Screenshot attached
K maybe it's a bug - post it up at vbulletin.com if you strongly think so :)
I think the reason for this is because it's a php code link. The php page creates an image on each request so that's why it's not working
- miSt
@n9ne: there is an admin option allow dynamical urls in img tags.
it's disabled here, it's no bug.
Ok, today my sig was suspended! so i came to this thread to find out why i was voilating the rules.....
As far as i can see... there was no violation, I only had 5 rows of small text and there was on solisiting of paid hacking services.
can soneone please tell me y??
Check the first post again. This is an old thread - I have edited the first post to reflect the new sig rules.

This site is overwhelmed with images in signatures. It's very distracting. images in signatures should not be allowed.

I agree as i did long time before i became Admin, but it was decided to allow them....
btw. i've enabled show images as links, it's much better :)
no disturbing images in sigs any more :)

Smoothie are you aware that you can turn off images in the signatures in your USER CP? Just turn it off and you will not see any images in anyone's sig. and not get distracted. ;)
As the preference is available to all users I believe it does not hurt anyone to have images in the signatures altough I myself don't fancy them either.

i have not posted in a long time, and apparently my sig has been banned. I tried to view the rules but the top post does not have any text pertaining to the rules. ???
This thread is very old, I'm assuming the top post is empty as there is a new thread with the rules in them.
