vBulletin.org New Style Competition! Prizes: Free vB and Hivemail licenses!!!

Alright, members, now is the time to get the creative juices going!

In order to celebrate the upcoming update of vBulletin.org to vBulletin 3, we are going to revamp our style. We are giving members a chance to be immortalized forever in the vB.org Hall of Fame, and get their names embedded in our footer templates ;) by choosing the top 2 best styles submitted in our Style Competition.

We are not even asking for something too complicated. All we want is a nice HEADER, FOOTER and NAVBAR, as well as BUTTONS and COLOR SCHEME. This includes our INDEX PAGE. Remember, we will need the buttons as eitehr gif or jpg, and we will require the psd's as well. Note as well that all rights in the design will be handed over to vBulletin.org on submission, and the style must be exclusive to this site, and not be resold or redistributed.

The Best Style will get a vB License courtesy of Jelsoft. The Runner-Up will get a Hivemail license courtesy of Hivemail. Best of all, you will get a special custom user title, username in our footer and fame and glory for the rest of your days. ;)

Rules to participate:

You must have a valid vBulletin license
You can submit multiple Styles, as long as everyone is created by yourself
You have to submit the style.xml, buttons (names as on standard vb3), psd's of the buttons, a screenshot of how the style will look

You don't have to modify any other templates than the mentioned header, footer, navbar. You can, but it's not required, nor it'll give you better chances to win. Even we can decide not to use every of your modified template.

Post every style in a new thread within our new Style Contest Forum (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=43)
You can just see your own threads in there. We will inform the winners when they're choosen.

We suggest you start with the button creations, as the templates may change through the Betastages ;)

Nope, the jury is vb.org staff and also if wanted jelsoft members.

As we want to surprise the members with the new style, a member rating isn't possible

We have no fix end date yet, as it depends on the RC and final Date of vb3 somehow.

We'll inform you early enough about any ending dates :)

Velocd, we want to use more styles and also want to hack the boards, so a lot of different templates would be problematical.

but there is no REAL no to other templates.
as said, you don't need to change them, if you want, you can do, but i won't promise we will also take over the modified templates, too then.

Yes, we mean vbulletin.org/index.php, not forumhome, as it would result into the same as mentioned above with hacks and so on :)

Beta 3 still uses the same template layout as the vB2 templates. Thats soon to change but the header/footer are pretty straightforward. :)

So much changed... Took me from 3 pm to 7 am in the morning to upgrade my private forums... most of the work was because of the changed templates, some of which have been split into several e.g. MODIFY. Also, some of the functions files were split and changed - gave me headaches with some of my hacks. :)

Why don't we upgrade to Gamma, and use the default style first? Trust me, the style changes in Gamma will modifying MOST if not ALL the current templates. Everything has been rearranged. It would be a nightmare to modify the styles we have.

Nope, Plain green will stay (as it's my fav ;))

DB will stay as well, it will just loose it's status as Official vb.org Main Style.

As for the other Styles, i don't know currently, we'll think about it :)

Are we allowed to do mockups of the style? I'm not too great of a coder but I can put together a pretty good mockup.

It's a contest, for complete styles, but you may find someone who helps ya with the code.
Multiple person submissions are allowed as Logician said, just one has to take over the responsibility for the Style :)

I doubt highly that you'll be able to see the entries we did not pick. People may wish to sell them on and retain rights and certain ideas they used in the design for future use :)
