It's pretty much the same thing, you can turn my shoutbox into that with mere template edits.

agreed, exactly what i was gonna do.... can u by any chance set it so that u have the field to input your message right above the area in forumhome where the last 10 or 20 messages are shown? cause if u can do that, that'd be awesome

Just add a small input box with the name "message" and have the form point to shoutbox.php?do=addshout. It should add the shout quite nicely, although it would redirect to the main shoutbox page. If you want it to go somewhere else, then it's a small file edit.
