First let me thank Chen for his blink PM bar on new PM hack which this was based off of ( http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32299 ). Problem was that I have a LOT of lazy users on our site who don't scroll down to the bottom of the forum list to see the pm notification. I also didn't want to take up excess room at the top of our forums with the full Private message folder information. This hack will display a flashing bar at the top of the forum list and the thread list that says "**** You have unread Private Messages ****" if the user is logged in, and has any unread private messages. The flashing of the bar is not compatible with Chen's hack, btw. I have tested it on our site which is V2.2.7.

Here you go. The difference is that it's near the top instead of the bottom so as soon as a person loads a page they will see it instead of having to scroll down to see it. It is a one line message up there so it doesn't take up as much room. Lastly it shows up on the thread list once you are in a forum in addition to showing up on the home page. Here is a screen shot from our forums - the unread private message line blinks.

Ahh right. On Chen's one it made the PM box flash etc, which was usualy also at the top depending on where you moved the variable ;)

Nice work all the same mate, thanks for the screenshot.

The traditional private message folder and folder information is still there as well. I don't like taking up that much space at the top of the forum/thread list and with this one if you don't have a pm it doesn't take up any space at all up there. It's also on the thread list as well. Included screen shots of both.
