View Full Version : Allow usergroups to see board while offline

Zachery
12 Jan 2004, 22:22
What this does: Allows you to specificy which usergroups can see the board while offline BESIDES just the admins :)

it only works with full usergroups NOT additinal usergroups.

install time: 5m~

once the install is complete login to your ACP and check the vB Options, there is a new one right above the message to display :)

always remember to backup before installing any hack :)

Credits:
Xenon for helping me, this was my first hack :)
DarkSSJ3 for the original Author, however i didnt look at his code ^^''
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50468

anyone who already downloaded and got a 404 rename the install file
cansee_install.php or redownload the zip :)

Would have been better to have used a bitfield in the usergroups permissions. Still a good hack none the less :)

Can we get a txt file for the install?
any reason? that script only inserts one option.

and the only other way i understand how to do it would be to just enable debug mode for a few min.

Yeah same happens to me ... upload the file, open it in IE - click on link and get a 404 :(

ETA: there's an error in the coding, I had someone fix it for me (no clue what he did though) and it worked...
thanks for releasing this so quickly.

/me klicks install

It's just a really simple typo in the code. You have it, in the PHP, linked to "cansee_install.php?=dosettings" whereas it should be "cansee_installer.php?=dosettings" (or whatever it is).

Great hack, BTW.

For me it only would be interesting if I could define an added usergroup to see the offline forum.

Any chance that this will be featured someday?

Greetings

I'll see what I can do but I'm not sure if there is a hook point to properly accomplish this.

yeah i know that you mean, I got it to work by manually changing the files with appropiate changes and what not, but i would've liked to have it as a plugin/hook

Thank you
