Ok, set up a brand new database with 3.0.3 Updated the files uploaded everything and installed arcade. Arcade installed successfully but I still get the no permission message. I checked to see if all usergroup access were correct and indeed they were. I checked the arcade's general settings to find all the permissions in the "no" checkbox. So I select "yes" to all and click update only to find that they are reset back to "no".

I also got to mention that when I uploaded the modified 'includes/functions.php' the entire board stopped working so I had to work backwards to figure out which file was causing the trouble. I'm not sure if that's what could be causing the trouble...

I also got to mention that when I uploaded the modified 'includes/functions.php' the entire board stopped working so I had to work backwards to figure out which file was causing the trouble. I'm not sure if that's what could be causing the trouble...

Dont worry, your not the only one with that problem. It shuts my board down with a parse error if I do what they say to the funtions.php as well . Not sure what the deal is there lol.

i keep getting this error with mine:
I run the install script and i keep getting this error:

Im going to do this.

Im going to take my original includes/functions.php file that came with my VB3.0.3 install.

Then IM going to go through it and redo all my hacks that had a mod to that file, with this one 1st and test in between each one and see what happens.

Maybe something got messed up in my functions.php, who knows, but it was working fine before that change, and then working again after I took it back out.

Ill let you know. I probably wont get too it till tomorrow. Im beat...

Ok, I tried using my original includes/functions.php that came with my install. Made just that change on it and it shut my board down again. So its not something in my functions.php , has to be something in that edit that causes it. Gives me a parse error everytime.

This is great!

Installed yesterday and everyone on the board loves it. Only problem is the latest arcade score is not updating. Its stuck on the same one. Not sure how to fix. Downloaded zip 7/16/04 and I'm using 3.0.1

Edited to say its working but its only recording scores for 3 card poker. Any thoughts?

I have a problem getting the arcade working. Go to my arcade: http://www.nextdictator.com/forum/arcade.php? and click on one of the games. Why aren't they working? I have version 3.0.3 and I saw a post that it does work with that version. I'm not sure what's wrong.

*EDIT: Whoops, sorry I forgot you had to register to see the arcade, but what happens is it'll bring me to a "The page cannot be displayed" page and the url in the url bar changes to http:///forum/arcade.php?do=extendsession I'm not sure what's going on.

You need to turn off the requirement to register before people can help with your problem. Either that or specify a test account so we can see what's going on.

royals - It could be that the arcade tasks have not run. These run by default at 23:00 daily. If you want to test that, go to AdminCP | Scheduled Tasks and select RUN NOW against the 'Arcade Tasks'.

Try and play a game in my arcade and you will see the problem.

OK, this is typically caused by the usergroup not having permission to access the arcade. Go to AdminCP | Usergroups, then select the usergroup that the user your testing belongs to, scroll down to the 'Arcade Permissions' setting and check to make sure that:

Can View the Arcade?
Allows usergroup to play arcade games

Are both set to YES.

What version of vB are you using? I believe there are known issues with 3.0.2 including this paticular problem, but I'm not 100%.

OK, then I don't really know. The only other thing I can think off is to check the location of your games and make sure their in the same location as originally specified.

Hmmm, I think I know the problem. I remember a while ago trying to install this arcade but I failed horribly. When I try to make the database changes during the installation I get the following error:

Use phpmyadmin or similar program to access your database and delete the table (backup your database first!). Alternatively if you know your SQL, then simply run the query from the vBulletin AdminCP | Import & Maintenance | Execute SQL Query.

I don't know much about SQL. When I try to Execute SQL Query it tells me I am not authorized. I used to have phpmyadmin but I had no idea what to do with it.

To be honest I don't think so. That error is just saying that a table already exists with the same name (from your previous install). It also relates to the game challenges, so not related.

Let's see if anybody else has any suggestinos on how to fix the problem before you start using utilities you're not familiar with, i.e. phpmyadmin.

No matter what I do, my arcade section is giving me this.

-I redid all installation processes about 3 times now using notepad (windows).
-I set the permissions on all games to active.
-I set all the permissions on usergroups to be able to access the arcade.
-Even the admin cannot access it.

kenji4861 - this sounds like a problem experienced just recently in another post by someone else. Go back a couple of pages and check out what I'd suggested, it might help you.

Also, although very fundamental, make sure your games are enabled, because that's another reason you'd get that message.

Are you sure you have it installed on all the templates? Double-check in AdminCP and confirm they're all there. Also, make sure you database contains the tables for the arcade with something like myphpadmin.

No, this was only because he was asking about how to remove an entry in the database. I'm not sure why people are having problems. I've confirmed this works with 3.0.3 as well.

Intex everything is there but it still doesn't load on. When i was on invision board the happened to me on posts so i went to admin cp and on the setting for Type of auto-redirect?
(This is for quick no page redirects) and it was on Location type (*nix savvy) so i put it on HTML META redirect (If all else fails...) and then it worked but i can't find the setting in the vbulletin admin cp

Well... I still have my same problem. Just to update someone that may help me:

Everything seems to be working for me with 303, BUT the edit to the navbar and postbit templates.
I reverted them and tried the edits and a few suggestions mentioned a ways back, but no dice on the postbit champ icon.

Well I can help you with the first problem, you're missing a , after 'utt_store_act' it should look like this 'utt_store_act',

As far as the other problem goes I have no idea, sorry maybe someone else can help you.

Well all that line is doing is making sure that you have the arcade image directory where it's supposed to be like in your /forum/images/arcade there really shouldn't be any problems as long as thats where you put the arcade images directory at. You should check it. If it is post back here and let me know.

that line has been taken out in vb 3.0.3 and this new line has been added instead. Just add it above this line in functions_showthread:

Ok I'm not sure but it seems to me there is a problem somewhere in one of your php files or templates and its causing this problem with your install. When I click on a game the URL up above points to here: http:///forum/arcade.php?do=extendsession You notice the /// there it seems you're missing your domain name in the line. If I were you I'd go over my install again very carefully.

Well after looking at your includes/function.php I noticed only one difference between yours and mine. you have a space inbetween a line:

Where as I don't. You might want to try and close the open space, not to sure if that would matter or not but it wouldn't hurt to try. Other than that I have no clue because this is such a simple line to install there isn't much room for a mistake.

There is a hack that will let you install multiple games at once but I think you have to install it on a clean install of Arcade tho. Hmm OK, I just went to your site and it comes up with a blank page. Are you running a live site and a test site on the same server? If so this might be your problem. Usually people run a test site on a different server so it doesn't interfer with their live site. Not to sure as to why it might interfer with the Arcade but you might want to try moving the test site to a different server. According to the explination you gave as to what the problem might be I really can't see any thing that might be wrong because it's such a simple line of code to install. SO the only other thing that I can think of at the moment without being able to actually get into your forum is that it must be the dual install of VBulletin.

If you think you can install the arcade OK, try and install it on your live site instead. If you follow the instructions carefully you shouldn't have any problems. I've installed it on 4 different boards now and upgraded 2 times from 3.0.1 to 3.0.3 and haven't had any problems so far... *knock on wood*

What version of VB are you using? If you are using vb 3.0.3 I'll make the changes to a clean version of functions.php for the arcade and attach it here for you to try. If you have any other hacks installed you'll have to make the other hack changes yourself if they alter the functions.php file.

That is not a command. The arcade cp is in your forums admincp. There is an option in there to reset all high scores in the database. Use that option in your arcade cp. If you only want to remove one persons high score there is a new hack on http://www.vbarcade.com that will allow you to remove an individual's high score. Please help!

I have Ushop installed and after installing v3 Arcade I get an error when attempting to open a thread / write a post / edit a post.

My debugger says its in this line in newreply.php:

Then it says:

Both are as should be, but it seems that it does not read these fields.
If I edit a post, it says "edited by" but the new text or alteration does not show up?

I had a user get disconnected before their high score could be submitted. I know there's no option in the CP to edit in a score, but is there some sort of backdoor way to do this?

Got this install with nary a scratch ;)

Only problem I'm having, and this is minor, is that the Arcades link works just fine in my forum... but not on my portal. The portal index is outside the forum directory in the root, so how would I go about re-writing the link and have it work both ways?

I'm pretty sure a conditional statement would work, but I'm a n00b. Any help would be appreciated :D

I got this issue fixed... basically copied the format of the other links in my navbar that show on both the portal index and forumhome. Musta been lack of sleep cause I was trying to do this for a few hours last night and did it again this morning, and it worked. Go figure :ermm:

Unless he really cheated, why would you ban him. He can be a good player...
If you want to erase all details, you will have to access your database with phpmyadmin and go to table gamesessions. sort on userid and delete all rows with his user id.

Do that again in gamenews and your done

But becaus this seems rather unfair if the guy didn't cheat, you could enable auto-pruning scores and set it to the amount of days you wish a score lasts. If your members doesn't like that, you can always install all time highscores ;)

The guy definitely cheated. He registered and then got top scores in 6 games taking less than half the time it took to get the second highest scores.
There is definitely a way to cheat the games. It's happened again yesterday by the same person re-registering.

Arcade still not working...

Could you double check if I'm doing everything right?

I've deleted all my template additions, and reverted all documents to original 3.0.3 settings. As the instruction on v3arcade.com say I've deleted the following tables from my database (zeno_forums):

the database table "datastore", browse it and find the titles "arcadesettings" and "scoresettings" - delete them both.

I've also updated my install_arcade.php document where it asks me to change the '$styleid=' value to the proper style id (in this case $styleid=10;)

I then proceed to the 'http://www.floridastreetscene.com/forums/admincp/install_arcade.php' page to start installing the arcade. When I get to the 'Database Modifications' step I get the following...

EDIT: Ok it seems eventhough the installation didn't seem to go through completly my arcade (http://www.floridastreetscene.com/forums/arcade.php?) is still up and functioning... however as you can see the image path's are screwed as they are pointing to my forums root. I am pretty sure why this is happening; I've skipped the modification to my i'ncludes/functions.php' as that caused my forums stop responding. Is there any way to get around this conflict?

I run the arcade on 3.0.3 and had no probs at all, if its installed correctly then your fine. As for John updating it, well he has been away and not active on his own site due to work load so dont expect it soon.

Updated the instructions to work with vBulletin 3.0.3, for those installing for the first time.

sarge0087 - extendsession prolongs the session of a user in vBulletin during gameplay, to stop them from being logged out automatically after they've been playing a game. (Which happens if a user isn't using cookies, for example.)

A mini hack to have the trophies displayed in two columns. With more and more games added, the forum members who have a lot of trophies can cause plenty of vertical space in the post header area, especially for forums using the new postbit. Hi Folks,
I have just upgraded from vbulletin 3.0.1 to 3.0.3.
Having previously had 1.0.0 of this hack installed, I am slightly confused as to what I need to do to bring it up to 1.0.2.
I have gone through and put all the code changes in.
All the templates seem to be the same so I haven't changed any of those.
But I'm worried about running forumroot/admincp/install_arcade.php incase it overwrites any database information allready there.
Can you please confirm whether I need to run this again or not?

Also I have several tables in the database from the vB2 installation :

arcadeconfig, arcadegames, arcadescoregroups, arcadescores and arcadetopscores

am I right in assuming these are no longer used and I can delete all of them?

if i clear the table 'gamesessions', then it works for a short time, around 2-3 games then this error comes back.
error also goes away if i 'reset public scores'

i tried the "repair table" option mentioned above also :/

I've just installed this AWESOMELYGREAT hack and I'd like to make note to John about certain things we'd love to see in the package:

- Game setup instructions: once you have arcade up and running, how do you add new games? that's not covered on the .txts on the package ;)

- the fact of multilingual boards, ie. ease of translations, ie. keep languages off of the arcade.php file ;)

- some way of challenge your users from profile or list of members or direct input of some sort. If u set it up with default values, the arcade won't let you challenge any1 unless he has played on some game before, righT?

I had an idea about adding regular (unconverted) games to the arcade. I think this would be a great idea and would open the Arcade to thousands of legal games like the ones from miniclip which cant be converted.

Err..I Installed the arcade fine... but users say when they go to it .. it logs them out.. and when i go to it... its just a blank WHITE page.. so when i clear my cookies and retry.. it lets be view arcade.. now the next time i go back and refresh or whatever its blank again.. its weird.. like i have to keep deleting cookies just to view the arcade :\

Great hack, Ive just added it. I noticed that you dont have to edit functions.php because when I edited it, it gave me errors. So I just uploaded the original file and it works..

I have some new troubles with this hack i had to reinstall the whole forum so i re did the hack now it says this when i goto arcade.php "Rahzel, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

well, thanx God these flash games are pretty small... and you gotta love flash... "once loaded, you dont have to load it again"... so the only thing slowing down your server after the first run would be to update the scores... which is very small bandwith... so i say... you'll never noticed a slow down on your server...

I have lastest verstion of arcade and VB 3.0.3. I just recently upgraded the site and had to reinstall the arcade.....

Seems that some of the left over databases are messing things up.

I installed 14 new games, and only those 14 are now showing up now. If I type in the url to the game that is not showing, I can play it. In the ACP I can see the games as enabled as well....

Everything is fine. I had about 10 games installed and working fine, added 14 more and only the new ones are showing in the arcade. In the ACP I can see all the games though.

I was running Vb 3.0.0 and had the arcade installed and running great. Today I used beyond compare to update to vb 3.0.3 while not losing my hacks uploaded everything and now I cannot access the arcade.

It says that I do not have permission to access it PLUS when I am inteh admincp and try to enable to arcade (for some reason all arcade option went to OFF) it will nto save the settings I choose. Any ideas what would cause this?

I installed 14 new games, and only those 14 are now showing up now. If I type in the url to the game that is not showing, I can play it. In the ACP I can see the games as enabled as well....

What can I do to show the hidden games?

Did u try looking on the bottom right of the page and click the arrow to go to page two of your arcades??

Weird.
All works fine for me (had a problem with Dreamweaver messing with functions.php but thats fixed) Except that you cant save any high scores.

All high scores are 0.

Any ideas on whats wrong and how to fix?

After upgrading to v3 Arcade ver. 1.0.3 from ver. 1.0.1 my users have lost permissions to write comments, even I have lost them.
I have cheked usergroup settings and they are as should be. Any idea? Everything else works just fine and the upgrade is really what we wanted, thanks!

I did'nt read the thread but it sounds like you are'nt aware, if you do not patch anyone can make themselves the high score leader of any game they please.

This is what I know from reading a thread on the subject, I do not run the arcade hack myself, but imho you should patch your installation.

What code would I put in the "memberinfo" template to show what games you are champion of, in the public profile?

I tried myself, but couldn't get it to show. Since most of my members use the top postbit, I want to move it out of the postbit and into the public profile.

Does Arcade 1.0.3 work with vB 3.0.0 Gold or do I need to upgrade both to go from Arcade 1.0.0?

I hope I don't have to upgrade the forums too as they have a few other hacks in and I got fed up reinstalling everything after RC2 so it really is a chore that I can do without.

Ok, I really have tried to read through the basic problems of this hack, ect.

I get the following message when trying to access the arcade...

Username, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

And yes, all the usergroups are set and are allowed to use the arcade, help please!?

i installed some games, and the News & Event didnt update anymore with latest scores

all the rest works great ( i've even uninstalled the last game i added )

Just downloaded latest v3arcade for my vb3.03...

but can someone help me troubleshoot why the scores and stats are not being saved ? NOthing is being recorded? Any suggestions on where i should look?

Plus my helicopter game from SEETHRU messes up after the first crash??? Didn't hang up during testing...

Is there a way to prevent games with no high score from showing up under the guest users postbit?

For example, I have a ton of 'Non Scoring" games that I have installed and they are all stuck on the guest user.

Any ideas?

Apologies if this has already been asked.

When you delete a user who has the highest score,their score still remains in the list.

Is there a query that can be run to remove their score and move everyone else up one place,or would it be possible to add an additional admin function to the "update counters" to remove the score?

Also,the arcade cron occassionally throws up an error because it can't find the invalid highscoreid.

I opened The Navbar out and can't find the:

Hi!

I installed the (german version) of the hack at a clean 3.0.3 and everything went ok ... but no single game is able to update the scores. when the game ends, it simply hangs upon "updating scores" 4ever. taking another browser makes no difference.

I think there's a problem with flash talking to the server.
any ideas?

edit: does the flash probably make use of the user's ip ?
my forum runs on a cluster and therefore no userip is available...

Hello,

Firstly great mod. I love it and so will my members. One thing though. I'm using vbAdvanced and I noticed a small issue with the "Arcade" link on the navbar. Instead of "www.whatever.com/forum/arcade.php" it goes to "www.whatever.com/arcade.php". However, on the forum homepage it does link correctly.

Any ideas on how to fix that? TIA

have my posbit display arcade awards up to a certain amt, say 7, then when a user has more, it will display the first 7, then say something like, "more" which you can click on to take u to a page with all of their arcade awards?

I am using VB 3.0.3 (fresh install, german version), made the changes mentioned in the documentation, uploaded all files (double checked the correct mode).

When I want to start the install_arcade.php I get the following error:

its ok i searched the thread and found this:

Once you've read the instructions and managed it with one, you'll laugh about how easy it actually is - if you'd read the instructions with the games, you would be laughing at yourself for even thinking about asking this question though.

Just as an example to show you how easy it actually is though:

1. Unzip the files.
2. Upload the the images to the arcade images folder.
3. Upload the game .swf file to the game folder.
4. Upload the install file to your forum cp.
5. run the install file, then once done delete the install file.

lol, it couldn't be any easier.

While on the V3Arcade main site, I asked about erasing some of my arcade news data (there was alot)... I when to PHP admin a made a mistake and deleted the table - gamenews.. now i get this
