None of the threads in the main forum will open now. I get a variation on the above message (identifying functions.php and line 2753)...something about not being able to set cookies because the header has already been sent.

It may also be worth noting that replacing functions.php with the original, unaltered file does nothing to solve the problem. Could it be there's some sort of conflict with a portion of the arcade code somewhere else?

Simms, it's either a problem with you not following the installation instructions properly or you've accidentally made an error in functions.php which has caused the problem you're seeing throughout the forum. Replace functions.php from the backup you made, and make the file modifications in Notepad.

I just used beyond compare as i have more than 1 hack installed. All went easily.

Also as a note when i install any hack i allways comment a few lines out saying which hack it is.

the games do work great but this version seems to be missing some sounds and bonuses like curveball bonus etc
in comparison to futereals Vb2 version

Set Active to "No" in game settings. I'll be adding a feature to get rid of games completely in the Admin CP.

Although even then, you can never get rid of a game automatically - there's always going to be the swf file to delete. The other alternative is to delete the game record from the "games" table in the database.

At the end of the level there is a little arrow you can click on for a bonus. There is nothing at all to stop anyone from just repeated clicking on that and getting absolutely huge scores. :/

Yep, but don't forget that faking POST data is extremely easy to do - there's no need for a memory editor. Just make a quick POST form with a load of hidden values, submit. (Unless something has changed since the last time I looked at it.)

To update all the changes, you need to download the zip and reupload all of the files. (Don't run install_arcade.php again, though.)

To add the new games, you need to download each zip and follow the instructions.

Those are merely template hacks, HTML. They would be easy enough to add if you so desired. If you're not sure on your HTML, pay the HTML School (http://www.w3schools.com/html/) a visit. :up:



As for the bug in my mini_stats. The problem has been resolved. Please download the new instructions and rehack. Delete what you added into arcade.php before and add the new code. Cheers.

Yes this is why I ask for a submit button... the "seethru.co.uk" button was replaced with "submit score". I think everyone would like this instead of having it re-direct to the score page right away.... because I believe the score page would be filled with 5 pages in a day!

hey John... If you read your .game.php file then you can see ur License ID. You might want to take that off. Some sites only require a license ID just to use.

I thought I better bring it to the attention of everyone that one of my members has somehow found a cheat for Asteroids and for Helicopter.

I am not totally sure how he's doing it, but it's so blatently obvious that he's doing it it's unreal.

Spot the cheat:


Skan0r - Asteroids Champion! - 79840 ownage - 1285 secs
2 Forge - 66130 - 625 secs
3 Slaya - 65650 - 625 secs


Skan0r - Helicopter Champion! - 3458 - 366 secs
2 Yadz - 2744 - 117 secs
3 Yadz - 2738 - 122 secs


For those who did not spot it, look at the times for Skan0r. It may not seem too extreme but it like this for him on ever game where he has become leader. His times are 3 and 4 times longer than anyone else. I don't think it can be put down to him having loo breaks either.

As I said I'm not sure exactly how it's being done, but I do think it may have something to do with having the right click options available.

Is anyone else having a similar problem to this? I really don't think it's just me going crazy? Is it? If someone else is suffering this, is there anyway you figured to stop it and what exactly is it he's doing?

Look at the times compared to the scores. If a member got 2744 points in 117 seconds, how could the other guy possibly get under a thousand more in over twice the time? Aren't the helicopter scores largely based on the time you've been playing?

I don't think there's anything out of the ordinary there. If you're that worried, check Skan0r's pings and make sure they're reasonable. (In the database)

Because on a slower PC, the frame rate drops dramatically for Helicopter. And the timing is server side.

Edit: Another thing you have to take into account is that timing starts as soon as the game loads... he can wait minutes before clicking on start.

By the way, Maeda Path has been updated. (Just download the zip again and overwrite the swf file.)

22 errors in 20,000 game sessions, that's 0.01% of all scores. It could be packet loss - it happens. You were lucky to manage to replicate it. (I've been unable to.)

Either way, arcade.php has been updated in the zip - I suggest you update, it might help. (It'll stop the database errors.)

Either there's still a bug, or it was reporting the wrong stuff before because acording to the first rev I should have been almost at 2 days, then it went down to just over 1 and now it's still around there. So, which was correct?

I added multiple half hour sessions at a time and measured the time updates each time, and with the new algorithm, the results looked spot on for me.

The old one was very, very, wrong though.

I'd like to know what I'd need to change in postbit_legacy so that the winners don't have their trophys and text trailing right after their user title? I think if I just put a <br> in, I'd have an extra line for no reason if that person wasn't a champion of a game.

Another serious Maeda Wall bug/exploit found by one of my users.

This one is so seriously easy and obvious really. >.<

When you start each level, you start off by scrolling the mouse onto the arrow, all you have to do is basically scroll back out of the game area and wait till the finish arrow appears, then scroll onto that, level done.

You don't score points for the blocks, but you get the bonus at the end of the level and can basically continue doing that forver or till you get bored.

Anyway, thought I better report this one too, to see if you can fix it.

this hack is fantastic the install instructions i am gonna base mine of as they are the easiest instructions to follow i have used :)

i have to say i have added many hacks and coded a few of my own also... and this hack is superb its the best looking and wonderful to keep members on site at the same time

on a different note:

the last game miniclip snake (gr8 game i am addicted) i got to level 5 and the bugger crashed :(

Btw, the user who had this occur responded with:

There was a few MySQL problems regarding the sessions with the arcade. This is because during game play and when the game ends it re-directs to the stats page. However as this wastes time I pressed the back button when it was re-directing which caused *something* to happen and created the errors. I can re-create the error again quite easily.

Not sure if there is a way for the hack creator to fix the problem or not, if not then I will just let the page re-direct then click the link again ;) .

Absolutly Superb hack, Excellent install instructions, and the whole install on Vb3 RC2 went without a hitch.

Incredibly easy to install and use.


Just a couple of slight issues with 2 games.

I have noticed in my browser (Opera 7.50 P1 + Linux) 2 games dont forward too add high scores on occasions.

Curveball and Helicopter, I have to ask as the wife scored big on Helicopter and I got it in the neck when she couldnt enter her high score :D

am I the only person with his problem, is it a known issue or is it my browser.

I agree. A great feature would be to limit the number of high scores, and make it setable in the admin area. I for example would probably like to limit the # of scores in the table to say 200, and if you'r not in the top 200 you just don't get listed.

Alright, no more blank page for me--re hacked init.php and I am now getting the permissions error instead of the blank page. =)

I have set the permissions twice for 2 groups (including admin group) and I still get the permissions problem. I have 2 skins, the default and then 1 I created. I tried with both groups on both skins and still get:

The sounds got lost in the conversion, there's no way of getting them back unless you can find a copy of the original source. :(

if your talking about my forum then :ermm: but it is very very easy to find the values of a game into flash. I will show you if you have aim.. Its a 5 minute job. Obviously you cannot change your score due to your security or what ever. But you can change the motion of the game. Say the shooting game. You could stop the timer for 5000 sec's then put it back on.

I know I keep bringing that other problem back up and I'm sorry if it's bugging you, but because the arcade is working in every other way perfectly without a single error, I feel this must be some kind of bug, compatibility issue or something, but I keep finding new things out, so feel if I share them then hopefully we may get to the bottom of it and fix it...

I've been able to re-create the problem a couple of times myself now, what seems to happen, is that the game just freezes at the end and either goes to a black screen or just sticks at game over. It doesn't seem to be transmitting the data to the database when that happens. The times when it seems to be mainly happening are when someone scores and high new top score or when the game last for a long time.

I made all the file modifications and then uploaded them and when I tried to go to my control panel I got that error in the right frame. I have made not file modifications prior to this as this is the first hack i've tried to install for vB3. I am trying to do this on RC3.

The default is off. If that's not the problem, you should find out what is... because there's no champion specific challenge code.

Trophies in the postbit aren't working because either:
1. you didn't make the modifications to the postbit template
2. you made an error in the modifications
3. you're using postbit_legacy on the forum, and you applied the changes to postbit.

The problem is if I put a <br> or any other type of line return, I'll end up with a <br> after the user title for people that don't have a championship under their name. Also, if it were so basic (and perhaps I am overlooking something), would it be so unreasonable as to ask, and receive an answer that was perhaps a bit more definitive?

I have vbAdvanced working fine and also a small sidebar hack. A similar site to mine has those hacks installed as well and his arcade functions properly. I also have vBXirc. I will double check my installation but im pretty sure i went through it line by line following every instruction. If I come across something i will let you know. Thanks.

Hi John, great hack, got it up and running no problem now (multi-style blank page issue).

I'd like to know what I'd need to change in postbit_legacy so that the winners don't have their trophys and text trailing right after their user title? I think if I just put a <br> in, I'd have an extra line for no reason if that person wasn't a champion of a game.

I have the same problem with the highscores.
But I do not know to what language I should set my IE.

Other people from my board can however add their highscores.
So for somepeople it works for some it doesn't.

No other hacks installed.

In other words, open up an internet explorer window, along the top click on Tools, then on the drop down list go to the bottom and choose Internet Options, then look for the button named "Languages"

Should be able to figure the rest ;)

When I included the submit button, I had loads of people complaining that they wanted it removed because it made challenges unfair. So in the second version, I didn't bother adding one in. I've provided you with the source code so you can find someone to do it for you, isn't that good enough?

There's still the issue of the champion title not appearing in a user posting for Maeda Path. The title works for the same user on another game and it works for other games. Could it be a bug related to the Maeda Path installer?

I first dont want to use this hack and wait until futureal hack is ready becaus is used it on vb2.

Well acording to that link, its pretty much John's anyway, Futureal just changed a few things. I personally love the sound effects in the current tetris and it looks lovely aswell, only thing to better it is the old tetris song in the background :)

My guests don't post anymore just play and play and play. They wont leave my forum!

I set the posting limit in my forums, 10 posts is fine, but then again people can easily post 10 posts just to play games. However it DOES draw users to the forums.

this showing up in the mysql database. At times, it is causing 100% server loads. Do you know where this comes from? and if possible anyway to cause it from not appearing so much? We're definetly sure this is coming from the arcade because the first time it was seen was about 20 min after I installed the arcade. Nothing else was changed that day. However, I am curious, if thus could be a specific game, as opposed to the arcade itself
