I have a problem ! I have clear all the scores. Now there are no games played...so all the scores are 0 how it shall be. However, i still have all the scores in the postbit and in my ARCADE INFO. Shound't that be "GONE" ?

I started to log POST and got the following after I played Asteroids and the game ended:

Why after I have played the client sends note=0 and id=0 because that results into "exit"?

Oh I had this problem in a big way (didn't I John :P)

I fixed it in the end simply by reinstalling the hack, including clearing the tables for the arcade from the database and upgrading from VB3 RC2 to VB RC3. As much as i'd like to deny it, it must have been something I missed when I did the install. Although I was getting somthing lie 95% of scores being submitted.

It would appear that if the hack is installed exactly as it should (like every single character) it should work perfectly every time.

if you look at the end of the new code, you`ll see the border="1" command has been replaced by a style command.. you can change the style at the end to either solid,dashed or dotted and you can change the colour to either one of the fixed names, or any hex colour code your require to fit in with your theme.. I just liked a dashed red effect around my games to make them stand out..

Ok, I have found the reason for my problem.

It's because I have phpadsnew running on my forum (banner management software)

I have this code in phpinclude_start

To fix the broken scores in Funky Pong.

Well, it's dirty, but just delete the comment in "highscores" in the arcade. Then, go into your vb3 db and browse the games table and edit the entry for whatever game id Funky Pong is to the score it was previously, and make sure you enter the member's ID number under "highscorerid"

Then go into your "game news" table and kill the entry where the bogus high score was attained.

In the new version (as well as the old) of Funky Pong, one of my users has found a "sweet spot." If you quickly move the paddle to the correct pixel after you hit "GO" but before the ball hits the paddle for the first time, you can get infinite hits. Is there any way to correct this, as this renders the game "broken."

Also, for Penguin Bashing, I understand there is a cap on how far you can smack da bird, but I think it would be good if the person who gets the top score in the shortest time should get the trophy (I think it should be like this for all games). Could that be implemented into the high score system?

Yes, this definitely sucks. I think we have hit that score...in fact, it was hit the first day I installed the game. Now, the game is basically over. No point to it in the arcade anymore.

Once you've read the instructions and managed it with one, you'll laugh about how easy it actually is - if you'd read the instructions with the games, you would be laughing at yourself for even thinking about asking this question though. ;)

Just as an example to show you how easy it actually is though:

1. Unzip the files.
2. Upload the the images to the arcade images folder.
3. Upload the game .swf file to the game folder.
4. Upload the install file to your forum cp.
5. run the install file, then once done delete the install file.

iam testing it on a rc3 installation right now and i think i've found a bug :(

i played 3 of the 5 games and iam the champion in 3 of those games and everything is fine for me in the postbit templates. But now, there's something like 'Chopper Challenge Champion! Tetris Champion!' beneath every guestpost and it seems like the guest played those games but really nobody played those games and a guest can't be a champion :)

Iam the only one who played some games (3 of 5 to be exact). No one else played because it's a private installation on my private webserver. BUT: this installation has some guestpostings in it.
When i look at a posting i made, i can see that iam the champion in 3 games. But at any guestposting i see that this guest is the champion in the other games. This can't be true because no guest ever played a game (arcade.php shows, that nobody played this 2 games).

Have a look at the image:
the first part shows a part of the highscore. The next part is the guest's postbit and the last part is my postbit :)

I didn`t realise InsideThePixel had updated the Geltech Skin for vB3, anyways looks like you have a mixture of text and image links, it looks to me like the dropdown menu has been removed in that style and replaced with buttons on the postbit (ala vb2) the instructions for installing the arcade where for adding the challenge invitation to the dropdown menu... as you don`t have a dropdown menu you`ll need to create a "challenge" button and edit the link from a text link to an image one..

It`s not really an arcade problem, just an issue with your style.

Does anyone know anything about Apache2's mod_deflate module and MSIE & swf-files. It seems that if you are using Apache2 & mod_deflate (mod_gzip when Apache1.x) MSIE doesn't download swf-files.

I'm using that combination and V3 Arcade-hack does work with Mozilla, Opera etc but MSIE doesn't download any games. That gamescreen loads fine but the swf-file itself is not downloaded. If I right click in that white rectangle it says that Movie is not downloaded. Then if I disable mod_deflate / turn off 'Use http1.1 through proxy connections' from IE's advcanced settings games work just fine.

So does anyone know how to set up mod_deflate so that it doesn't either compress swf-files at all or so that when a request is mabe by MSIE (BrowserMatch) it doesn't compress in that case.

John - given that it already supports 1-on-1 challenges, perhaps a knock-out tournament system could be implemented. Here's what I'm thinking - Set up tournaments with pre-set number of players (e.g. 8, 16 and 32), and also for each round, you could set the number of games to be played to determine the winner (e.g. best of 5 games). Setting up tournaments could also be set in the admin control panel to make it so that only admins can start tournaments to make them more 'official'. Once a tournament has been set up, players click a link to sign up, and once all slots are filled, then it randomly pairs everyone up for the actual tournament.

Too much work? Anyone else up for coding this add-on hack?

The 1-on-1 challenges are great, but nothing beats a proper tournament. :)

Here's what I'm thinking - Set up tournaments with pre-set number of players (e.g. 8, 16 and 32), and also for each round, you could set the number of games to be played to determine the winner (e.g. best of 5 games). Setting up tournaments could also be set in the admin control panel to make it so that only admins can start tournaments to make them more 'official'. Once a tournament has been set up, players click a link to sign up, and once all slots are filled, then it randomly pairs everyone up for the actual tournament.

Too much work? Anyone else up for coding this add-on hack?

The 1-on-1 challenges are great, but nothing beats a proper tournament. :)

I didn`t realise InsideThePixel had updated the Geltech Skin for vB3, anyways looks like you have a mixture of text and image links, it looks to me like the dropdown menu has been removed in that style and replaced with buttons on the postbit (ala vb2) the instructions for installing the arcade where for adding the challenge invitation to the dropdown menu... as you don`t have a dropdown menu you`ll need to create a "challenge" button and edit the link from a text link to an image one..

It`s not really an arcade problem, just an issue with your style.

I didn't change it, It always show on all administrators posbit on my forum execpt members, mods or super mods.

It's sort of decent, works most of the time. Some games have protection code which can't, and more importantly shouldn't be overridden.

From the screenshot you posted earlier, it looks like a problem related to the fact that you use a heavily customised postbit.

If you're using a heavily customised postbit, don't expect standard code to work with it. You need to tweak things.

Release date to be announced... parts 2 and 3 will probably be released together. I don't want to give any ideas away, because I want them to stay in this Arcade only (as with challenges) - but tournaments are only a tiny part of what's coming.

Which settings in particular did you want to have on a game by game basis?
I was hoping I could define which games are available to which usergroups. So that basic members have 5 games available, then the next level has 10, and so forth; with me being able to define what's what. I wasn't positive this was in the works (if not, that's cool, it's a great piece of work); if so, then I was curious to where this was on your ladder of things to do. Merely a curiousity question :)

Error 28 isn't anything to do with the coding of the Arcade, rather the server it's running on. (And more specifically, the state of the database)

I managed to get error 28s in the arcade before, it was on and off, but it eventually fixed itself.

It was odd when an error 28 poped up from SELECT but didn't pop up when adding a post.

No idea. IIRC someone else had the same problem in this thread, although I think they found a mistake in their file modifications (which is the problem for 95% of people needing help installing).

Ye but at the end of the day if they don't contribute anything to your forums, Why should you waste bandwidth on them. The "serious" ones will register. I, b.t.w, limit the access to play the arcade only to members with at least 10 posts. still the registration rate is much much better then it was before the arcade...

The only way is to create a new User Group that has permission to play (specified in the User Group Manager). Take away the permissions in your current Main User Group and then setup a Promotion to advance 10 post people to the new group with permission to play.

My problem is that while i have about 20 new members per day, they all just play in the arcade, and my webalizer shows almost everyone enters directly to the arcade, never even seeing the forums.

People are people. If they aren't interested in the Forums and just the games, it's almost impossible to make them. That's why I have a separate group with the 10 post minimum.

That is why I've given the privilege to members with a min of 300 posts. Even then, they HAVE to be reviewed by the staff to be able to enter the new usergroup. ;)

Just my little view regarding users just using the arcade section of forums and nothing else.

I know for some it may be a problem when all your bandwidth is being gobled up by people who don't use your forum for anything else, but surely having more bodies on your forum in the first places is going to encourage more users, which in turn will gradually get you more people posting anyway. Nobody likes to see a forum with no users on it.

The way I look at it is, that at least they are on my website, no matter what they are doing, at least I have them, when they could quite easily be somewhere else (there's enough choices out there). My CPM banners take care of the cost of bandwidth with them, so I don't see it as a problem. If someone doesn't want to write posts in the first place, forcing them to do so in order for them to get to the only thing they want, is only going to get more useless spam posts on the forum in my opinion just so they can reach the required amout. At the end of the day, the arcade is only going to hold so much interest for any user, after that they are more than likely going to explore a website they've been using for a while anyway, but if you've restricted them, the chances are they may just leave and never come back, because they are likely to think there will be more restrictions like that and that it's not worth it.

Anyway, just my view on it, which may not even be valid for certain other website set ups.

I'm new to vBulletin and v3 Arcade. I installed Candidate Release 3 (the only one offered when I registered). Anyway the first thing I did was install v3 arcade. Everything went well and I was like the preverbial pig in **** on my work PC (Win 2000 and Explorer 5).

People were mentioning that they couldn't get to the arcade as they were'nt a registered member. This seemed to be like the problem posted earlier by Cheeky however the file you suggested to correct (global.php) was already OK.

This problem seems to be a third party cookie issue (someone told me that, I don't know)

Can anyone shed any light on this? Is it a vBulletin thing? Is it just a general problem that users would have to set a very low privacy rating on their browser?

1. Making sure the forum permissions are set correct for the relevent user groups in your admin cp?

When you're playing a game and click on "high scores," I think it should open in a new window by default. I've had a couple of people playing games, then clicking to see what the second place score is, only to be kicked out of the game.

I am having some issues with Joust, the most addictive game out of them all! I have found some major bugs that make my IE crash and get stuck and whatnot. Like in Level 3 when the floor goes if you fall you dont die just fall forever and ever into a vast emptiness. Also at the very top if you get goin fast enough you can pass through the top barrier and get stuck. As well if you die in between the 2 sides you get stuck and are forced to restart game. I am not sure if any of these matters have been brought up before or not just tryin to help. I love that game so much I used to have it on Atari and owned at it. Just dont want a clasic to suck so much!

I had something similiar occur on my site in the Penguin Game.. I had the high score first.. Then someone matched my high score and became #1 instead of it keeping me up there in the first spot. :)

UPDATED the DHTML menu addon (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showpost.php?p=475024&postcount=17) to have the option of a limited number of items in the menu, sorted by popularity (number of times played).

I ran into an issue with tied champions where the trophy would get shared around in posts (I have a 4 way tie on Penguin Bashing). One day the original champion would have the trophy then on another someone else would. The stats in the actual arcade don't change of course.

for starts if you look at the first error its telling you that the database table its trying to call is not there that being 'conso46_vbulletin.games' so check your database settings are pointing to right database with the right login info, if you feel they are doing so login to your database useing phpmyadmin if you have it and check that the table is infact in the database with that name.

After running v3 Arcade for about a week now, a few of my members are starting to rebel because they think the point system is unfair. When some people have the same score, the positions are arranged according to the alphabet.

Is it possible to change the arraging according the time they needed to reach that score?

Amen - I'd buy into that one. Or the possibly the date when they achieved it. Alphabetic order sucks majorly. (I had someone equal my 'penguin bashing' score and took first place. When I then equalled their score, they still kept first place!)

The Cron of the Arcade Hack crashes my own server. High Loads in the vB 3 ACP and high page loads are caused by the Cron. It took many CPU Power and there were many PHP processes.

I installed the arcade hack and it worked fine. Well I did not make a back-up and had a problem with one of my tables and it got deleted. The table was usergroup and i found a old back up and rebuilt the table, and i went in to reset permissions and i clicked users can play arcade, blah blah blah. Then i went to save and I got this message.
