- So, what is the v3 Arcade?
The v3 Arcade is exactly what the name implies - an online games arcade that offers seamless integration with your vBulletin forum.

The v3 Arcade is the first of the new generation of vBulletin additions. Back from its roots, the v3 Arcade is the vBulletin 3 edition of my original Arcade written in late 2002 (not to be confused with futureal's 'ProArcade', which was written during the Arcade's beta phase).

v3 Arcade Features Include:
• Integrated Flash gaming for vBulletin 3
• Advanced leader board system
• FULL Mozilla/Netscape Compatibility
• Moderation abilities for Mods/Super Mods/Admins
• PM & Email notification for events
• Advanced statistics for all users
• A higher level of security
• "Arcade Challenges", 1-on-1 contests between users
• Arcade awards system
• Automated and manual score pruning tools

This installation comes loaded with the following games:
• Tetris
• Snake
• Asteroids
• Chopper Challenge
• Space Invaders

If you have the source (.FLA) for a game that you want to use in the v3 Arcade, you can send the required files to john@v3arcade.com for conversion. (Providing permission has been given by the original author.) Within a reasonable delay, I'll post the converted game and installation script on vBulletin.org.

IMPORTANT NOTES
• If you do install this hack, please click on the INSTALL button. There are going to be some updates for this which you're really not going to want to miss!
• Each Arcade page has an Eovie Interactive and Flash Player link at the bottom. This is optional, but greatly appreciated. :)
• You may have noticed that this release of the v3 Arcade is not fully phrased. To phrase the arcade would require well over a hundred phrases to be added, making for a lengthy installation process! Futures version of the v3 Arcade will be phrased, with a more automated installation.
• And don't forget - BACKUP BEFORE YOU INSTALL!


Regarding the "ProArcade"
There has been a lot of debate on vb.org recently about the ownership of hack "concepts". My original Arcade hack (on which the v3 Arcade is based), was a progression of the my vBTetris Leaderboard hack - both of which came about before the ProArcade. I've spoken to Erwin regarding this, and he can confirm that this has always been an independent development; hence the v3 Arcade was authorised for release.

Fixes
If you're installing the Arcade from scratch, there are no fixes or updates to be applied. Simply follow the instructions in Installation.txt.
If you've already installed the Arcade, make the changes in Updates.txt.

Read the install . Scroll down and it says run the php querie into phpmyadmin. That will fix your problem.

Nice work. Installation went fine (great instructions by the way) but I think I may have found a little bug... On the postbit when you are shown as champion, clicking on the little game icon doesn't insert the game id into the url. It may well be my installation - I'm just re-checking.

I'm having the same problem. I think it's the functions.php file. Try putting the original functions.php file back. It doest work when you revert the changes and upload. You have to download it again from vb.com and then upload that file... i dont know what that's the case but it worked after replacing the functions.php file originally from VB

I'm using RC2, I have no idea what I could be doing wrong. Both times that I tried installing it the same error showed up. I'll try it again tomorrow and see what happens.

It seems to be the function.php file. I just reuploaded an untouched functions file and i dont get those errors... all that's wrong is the images dont show up in the arcade, i guess because that's where the functions.php files comes in... can i add this piece of code elsewhere?

I'm having the same problem as the other user who is recieving the error upon clicking the link in the postbit. Also, deleting a comment doesn't work either, and comes up with a 404 error.

EDIT: Yet another bug.. failure to open the phrase after saving the settings.

I installed this thing without a problem...

People, keep in mind that this only works on RC2 - don't try to install this on earlier versions as that may well cause problems.

Having said that, I gotta say that I love the design of this arcade. It fits very nicely with the rest of vB3.

And YAAAY Mozilla compatibility, finally! :D

The solution is, don't! ;)

Dreamweaver appears to automatically edit (and screw up) this line in functions.php (1755):

If you want to install it on a different style, just change your current selected style and run the first part of the installation script again.

i dont know who is the author of the great flash game "Curveball". It would be great if someone gets a .fla file of this game. Ive see it on a vbulletin with a hack thats called "vbulletin pro arcade" or something like that. It was a vb2.x.

1. Check to make sure that your bburl variable is set correctly. (I.e. the URL of your forums, in vB options.)

2. Did you add the "arcade_cp_settingssaved" phrase to the correct group? (I.e. "Control Panel Stop Message", not "GLOBAL")

I used Dreamweaver's text editor a lot of the time, it didn't take me long to discover that it kills functions.php when you edit it. ;)

Still, it works fine for all other files. Just use Wordpad/Notepad for those changes, and you shouldn't have any problems.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Futureal's "ProArcade".

The v3 Arcade is the vB3 adaptation of my original vB2 Arcade. Futureal is going to release a port of his vB2, but this is completely different.

Presuming you're using RC2, I'd look to this being some sort of installation problem. Check through the code modifications you've made, and make sure you haven't missed something.

Installed without a glitch nice one. But!!!

I just played the heli copter one. And after about 7 trys, i clicked back to arcade link on the right.

Now on the arcade page it says that i am the champion for it with a score of 0 points. Then when viewing the leader board nothing shows.

Yeah - Chopper Challenge really does throw you right into the gameplay, so I thought a submit score button would be a better idea. It can get annoying having to hit "Back" all the time. :)

well, im stuck with a little problem now :( i 'tried' to install it as you know, but kept getting that error. so now i uploaded the old versions back up, the ones without the modifications and such. i left all the other arcade files up, to save me time. but now i dont know what to do, if i mod the files again, can i just upload them and it will work? or will still have to redo the install.php. cause i already did the install.php previously.

If you're using an unhacked RC2 vBulletin installation, the Arcade will work - and if it doesn't it means you've made a mistake somewhere along the lines.

Have another go, follow the instructions to the letter! ;)

No, this is a completely different system - it has absolutely nothing to do with the ProArcade or futureal, period.

However, it won't take long to start collecting games to be converted for the v3 Arcade. When these games are converted, I'll post them here. :)

In that case, you must have made an installation error somewhere along the lines. Did the installation script (install_arcade.php) run successfully?

To boost the amount of games for this i think you must release a sort of pretext written php with marked spots where certain information is needed. The problem in vbarcade was the highscore variable. Is this a problem with this hack to?

Alright, everything went fabulous until I went into my admincp to set it up and I get:

How can i fix the problems from POSTBIT ? If i (or any user) is a champion to a game...the CHAMPION apears in postbit...but if i click on the image i got that i don't have permision. Also...this is the link that it sends be to :

BLABLA/arcade.php?do=play&gameid=

It seems GAMEID is not complete. If i am a champ on tetris ho let's say its game ID 1...it shall write arcade.php?do=play&gameid=1 wright ? How do i fix this ?

A lot of people have been getting this error.
I presume you're all using the Dreamweaver text editor?

The solution is, don't! ;)

Dreamweaver appears to automatically edit (and screw up) this line in functions.php (1755):

Use a different text editor to make the change to functions.php, and you won't have this problem. :)

Notepad has an extremely great FINDing tool. Use notepad or wordpad. But wordpad sometimes dont find stuff as notepad does.

You either ran some queries wrong or did some phrases wrong. Make sure you ran the installer also. And are you sure its VB RC2? or any VB RC

i am running VB3 RC2 and i only used the installer

i know that... Just search the longest line snippet. You can do the rest manualy... Thats how I install all my hacks :ermm:
