What this does
vBSigHosting is a free image hosting hack for remote hosting of signatures for your forums. This will allow members to upload there signature to your site and use it on your site. Each user gets one upload, with a file width, height, and size limit that you specified in the admin cp.

Features:

Completely Admin CP controlled.
Turn on/off for diffrent usergroups.
File sizes, width, and height restrictions (pixels) via ACP.
One user equals one signature image at a time.
When user uploads new signature, old signature will erase.
All images are stored in database.

They are not 'required' to use it, this is just so members have a place to upload there images. Alot of people have problems finding a good sig hosting place that will not delete there sigs every x days. Plus helps keep red x's off the forums. :p But they can still use the default signature option.

Like i said, just so members can have there image hosted.

This is a nice idea, especially for those situations where the newbies have no clue how to process their signature.

Expanding the signature feature(s) with a hosting solution would be great, however, in return .. does it support GD watermarking? Would be cool to have a small pixel line added to the img by gd that included the url to the site (or preset txt).

Even better than a simple permission check would be expanding this a little bit more to include transfer limits. If incorporated with the paid subscriptions, I would like to be able to offer a couple of different plans with say 50mb transfer/month, 100mb, etc... could just track everytime the image is hit and add up the bytes or something.. this would be GREAT!

Hehe, a permission check could easily be implemented with a .htaccess file just like you should have setup for your avatar and attachment.php files.

I myself currently have a sig installed prior to this hack. I do not get the new modify sig screen as shown in your included pics. If i upload a new sig, it thanks me for updating but nothing new displays and the old sig is still in place. The reason why is cause this hack only host the signature for users. If a member already has a signature lets say. [ img] www.somehostingsite.com/sigs/user.jpg [ /img]. Not yet, I just installed it on my main board to see how it reacts with the users. I've been getting alot of people saying that some users can't upload and i wan't to know why.

I have having the same issues as others I have tried this hack both on and offline and I cant get it to accept the sig, I get a blank space everytime.

But for new users the get the option, its doesnt replace my sig, and on the first go round it actually showed my avartar, I took the avartar option off, and now I get nothing.

Well it's possiable, I preferer you to code that. Maybe use

$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] to get the full request URI including the userid

Then in .htaccess you make the no-extention file sigs be a php file:

Im having a problem with watermarks, cant seem to figure it out so i don't see that happening. Once the new server problem is fixed i will update the code to view sigs and delete them.

or else it calls the avatar both for the avatar AND for the profile pics. It totally cancels out the display of the signature in the usercp. This confused both me, and a few collegues with vbulletin installed, so we went through a couple of things and decided "who, this isnt right."

I'm trying to figure out an easy way to do that, but the way i was trying still kept the image in the database. I was just going to use $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] to get the full request URI including the userid Then in .htaccess you make the no-extention file sigs be a php file:

</Files>

And everyone sigs will point to, www.yoursite.com/forums/sigs/1

1 being the userid.

I you can figure out how we can do it to upload to a specific directory that would be great, cause i know you have a huge site, and you need to access the database as less as possilbly.

First off I would like to thank Livewire for what seems like it will be a great and usefull hack. Your work is very appreciated.

With that said, I am seem to be having a slight issue. After installing the hack properly as well as setting up my permissions, it seems that no signatures (or avatars, for that matter) are showing up once uploaded. I don't get an error or anything, there is simply nothing there.

If I could get some assistance on this matter that would be great. Thank you very much for your time :)

P.S. Running the latest VB as well as the latest version of VBsighost.

Well, i hve that in there and i double check it lots of times. It's working fine when i was using vb3 gold but from since i upgrade to vb3.0.3, the url upload sig is not working propertly anymore and it was working fine with other hack on vb3.0.0 gold.

Yeah - That's where his notation of the approximate line number came in handy. When I installed it some of the lines of code were different - Odds are they were just changes in the versions. I don't remember any of them being too different from what was written to find - It just took a little extra work to find the lines.

I'm not to sure then, i personaly would try to reinstall the hack, or at least take your time and go over every bit of code that you need to install from my install.html file. And make sure you save the usergroups. Go to the register usergroup and just set the settings and click save.

I tried installing this program, but couldn't get it working. So I uninstalled it, and everything was fine. Till I tried to edit a usergroup, and I got this error message:

If thats what you get after installing on a clean database then the database isn't really empty. If you look at what I bolded it still shows the column 'siguploaderpermissions' in the database. Might want to use phpMyAdmin and drop the tables manually to be sure they are completely gone.

True.Rooster is almost correct. The reason why your getting that error is because you still have code in the usergroup.php file. When you try to save any usergroup, its trying to save the siguploader permissions cause there still code in the usergroup.php file. If you go into phpmyadmin, your not going to find that feild cause it don't exisit.

Hi... I had this installed for around a month I just tried it and it doesn't work now...

What happens you find your image and click upload and it just refreshes the page in

I have a problem :/
The only image that will ever come up is if a member has a custom avatar. Otherwise it doesn't sow. Also, the image then shows the custom avatar as opposed to the uploaded sig. This is not helpful... >_<

Well I've just gone over the steps for the 3rd time and I'm done going over them. I've installed many hacks successfully before so I know I'm not totally incompetent. 1) The options don't appear in the admin panel (under usergroups) and 2) in the User CP when you click the link to upload your signature it takes me to a blank page.

I'm running version 3.0.6 and I've gone through every page of this thread, including the link to the forum where the coder of this hack gives support but has a message saying he's having issues and won't be around for a while.

If anyone has any ideas please share. But I think I'll try installing another one, preferably one that works. ;)

Hi would this hack sole this problem for me?

I have disabled signatures to all users on my VB 3. However I would like to be able to allow a certain 2 usergroups the abilty to be able to use images in thier signatures. The two user groups are:

1. Paying Members - We are turning our site into an offical club and this would be one of the advantages to being a "paid" member.

2. Supporting Traders - We have a number of companies wanting to advertise with us and this is one of the benifits they would like. As the use the forums as well as the members.

I would also like to do this for avaitors?

And I had the problem that only new users were able to use the siguploader and excisting users could not use it.. but the problem was that with the excisting users I tried with were in a additional usergroup, as soon as you take them out then it or make that primary then it works for excisting users also.

I would have expected it to add it immediately in the signature but instead you have to manually copy paste into the editsig option.. that could be automated I think.

Great hack, thanks. I installed and everything is fine . . . except when I go to upload a pic, it never shows up. The page refreshes, but never shows the image I just uploaded.
