Hi guys, I am trying to get picture instead of question. BB Code may be used in question, right?
So I try to use BB Code for picture, image address to show picture instead of the question. All I get is link to the picture. Picture itself will not be displayed, just the link. :confused:

Am I missing something? Can you advice how to show picture in question?

I have installed this mod, and is working just fine on 3.6.4; One question though even if I set user access to Unregistered, when an unregistered tries to take a quiz - it still requests him to register on the site.

Anyone know how to make this work for unregistered/guests on your site?

sorry amykhar, this is not correct. you mean the bbURL issue.
Chuck asked again for a URL-link-image-issue that I posted 1.5 years ago. I don´t got any help and I checked just every posting. There is no answer or help for the problem in the thread.

It seems that the IMG tag works fine in some boards and I tried all settings in the admincp but I can´t find a solution. I also tried to make a own BBcode but this code do not work in the quiz section, only in the forum.
Maybe somebody has a idea why vbulletin (or the quiz) change [IMG] to [URL] automatically (in every case > I tried out different image sizes and types...)

Any ideas? Any files to include?

BTW: in a post [IMG] works fine and display the picture as picture and not as link. If I remember correct, there was a option 3.0 or maybe in 2.x to switch between image as image or as link, maybe there is a old setting in the database.

Is there a way, that User can upload Files, maybe Images, movies and so on, TO a question?

Its not easy for the Users, that they upload on others Servers the files and Copy the Code (IMG URL) to a question.

Anyone tried to (ab)use this mod as a ‘prediction game’ instead of a quizz?

The only change needed would be:
Answers for the questions are only known at a later stage: so the results should be entered by updating a question and points are calculated and awarded at this stage and not right after someone has taken a quizz.

Anyone any idea which pieces of code can be re-used to achieve this?
Which parts should be disabled and where to put the new code...and stuff like that?

Make sure the templates are installed on all styles.I know in the morning I am going to laugh at what a dumb question this is but right now I am tired and can't think.........how can I copy the templates from my default skin where the quiz is working great to the new skin I installed today. I am getting the blank page on the new skin because the templates are not there. Surely, there is an easier way than recreating each one?

*EDIT* answered my own question. Since I have seen this asked a few times in this thread, you just need to upload the quiz.xml (found in the admincp file of the original zip) in the download/upload styles area. Merge into whatever skin you are trying to add to.

everything is installed, but when i go to allow quizes that are submitted, my admin keeps asking me to log in over and over again! I thought this was fixed, and also when making changes to the admin_quiz.php there are two instances of the same code when searching.

I installed and tested it and found it very good. Then I noticed that there is a german translation, so I wanted to use that one. Since there is an uninstall I used it, not noticing that the uninstall cannot be used for 3.6.7

I tried to install it over the old one (as part of it was gone), and ever since I get database errors. I deleted files and everything, but the templates remain. I guess I have to get rid of them, too, before I can install it freshly.

How can I get rid of the Quiz-Templates? Deleting does not work. :(

So I take it there's no way to display images in a quiz then ? Although the BBCode will create a clickable link I would prefer to see images on my quizes. I have doubt as infernoquiz wouldn't be a stable hack since develper hasn't update it to 3.6.8 that shows this hack doesn't come in his priority list, therefore I was trying to find out what developer thinks about going to 3.6.8 and support to future vb releases hope zero tolerance would reply :)

Hi all,

I have realized that the permissions of taking a quiz applies only to the primary group of the user, correct me if I'm wrong. I explain this better:

I'm using the promotion feature with Registered Users, I mean, when a user reaches 25 posts, that user obtains "Premium User" membership, as an aditional membership, "Registered Users" continues being the primary group.

So, what I want is to make Quizzes only be available for "Premium Users", for those who have "Premium User" as one of their aditional member groups, so then only users who have posted more than 25 times can submit the quiz.

Just out of curiosity, how am I supposed to know what the XML syntax is for creating and importing a quiz is? There are NO instructions, the example quizzes are CRYPTIC, and I can't even export my quizzes to try and learn from, because I get prompted login repeatedly when I try to do so.

I'm just extremely curious, to say the least. Is there some sort of script/program anyone has made that makes the process easier? I have many quizzes to get put up, and the backend is too cumbersome to use. The import option is my only hope if I want to keep my sanity.

Good hack (installed), but something I'd like to see is an additional security feature on timed quizzes that will submit the quiz automatically if the user tries to refresh or close the window so that they can come back to it later and get more time. I tried implementing it with a onunload() event in a separate BODY tag but it did nothing.

Has anyone (Amy?) managed to get something like that working? I don't need it but would certainly appreciate it if someone knew how to do that.

Turns out I was using the wrong event handler... Adding the following line to the quiz_do_top did pretty much everything I was hoping for. :)

It wasn't perfect... you could still click Back in IE7 and it wouldn't submit, but it prevented circumvention via closing the window in both IE and Firefox and by the back button in Firefox. (To fix the oversight, I used a pop-up window with the toolbar disabled to open the quiz page and added a Javascript function to disable right-clicking.)

Hi guys,
I'm using Inferno quiz with vB Credits integration.
A question.
I noticed that in the quiz settings there are 2 options:


Prize for Completing Quiz
Vary Prize by Score


If I set the first one to 1000 and the second to no, people who doesn't complete the quiz, take 1000 credits anyway. Instead I would like to make sure that only people that complete the quiz with 100% right answers can get the full jackpot. And people that doesn't get 100% right, simply take zero credits.

Any idea on how to solve this?

I get that trying to open even one quiz. Assuming the author does not have time to fix, I'll get it working and post a fix if I have time to review the code. Hopefully he'll update. :)

I am using this hack solely for the purpose of restricting entry to certain forums based on a user's knowledge of the rules.

Alfa1 and I have worked together and applied a band-aid solution for Amy's hack Test Your Members' Knowledge Before Allowing Them to Post in Certain Forums (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93388&page=4). My coding knowledge is limited, but the addon at least works again.

My question now, has been asked no less than four other times by others in this thread with no response, so please do not tell me to go read. I have.

Where do I have to edit to allow users to take a quiz over and over again? I noticed Amy's addon (above) has a phrase that redirects users back to a quiz if they fail, but what's the point in that if they can't take it more than once?

I have spent well over 72 hours working on this hack and the addon, and I am almost finished, so if anyone knows how to do this, please take the time to share the info as I have. Thanks.

OK I finally have it all set up the way I want it. Users can take the quiz as many times as they need to, and (as per Amy's mod) now have to take a quiz and pass to post in a specific forum. Although the access does not take effect until the quiz submissions have been moderated and all failing results removed (even if the user has passed in a subsequent attempt). So my next hurdle:

Is there a way to bypass the moderation altogether and have a user's latest score overwrite their previous one? In a forum of xx thousand users I could see moderating all the results everyday becoming quite tedious.

If not that, then perhaps some kind of "mass-moderation" option that simply checks for test scores in the moderation queue that are lower than the passing requirement and deletes them?

Either of these would be a viable option, I would prefer the first one though. Any suggestions as to where to start?

but I have no idea how to put it together, or where to put it after it is together... so as to automatically check and delete at set intervals etc. and, of course, we don't want to be constantly querying the database now, do we? Perhaps even a button added in the code above that performs this function manually, rather than on an automatic timer (ie "hit the button, all results below a certain percentage are deleted").

These reasons are why overwriting the results on each subsequent attempt would be a much more attractive option. I don't care if I have to hard-code it in rather than make it a selectable option, as I only plan to use this mod for the aforementioned purpose anyway.

I have a small problem in that the admincp keeps asking me to login again, and again in a loop. It only happens when i try and set multiple quizzes to open :confused:

I tried editing template quiz_do_question (which I assumed was the proper template) to fix the width of the actual quiz page. See screenshot.

I need the left column to be 20% or so so the questions (which mostly are long) do not appear crushed and more than one line in most cases.

Feature request: automatically select the quiz in the drop down when adding new question to that particular quiz.
Each time you had a new question to the same quiz, you have to reselect the quiz title again.

Even better if you had a question option when creating a new quiz of how many questions you intend to add,
and you can add them on one page.

I have now fixed this problem... I only checked "Maximum Characters Per Post", saw that it was set on 10,000 and thought that it couldn't be that.

With help from a member on vBulletin.com - it is fixed.... Make sure you check BOTH options below.

Check your character limits:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Private Messaging Options -> Maximum Characters Per Private Message

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Message Posting and Editing Options -> Maximum Characters Per Post

For some strange reason, the questions do appear in smallfont correctly, but the answer options is not picking up on the smallfont class. Any reasons why this might be?

The truth Is, that I am NOT receiving their quizes.

I tried it myself too with a new userID, and I didn't receive that too.

This particular coder seems to have a habit of creating products that cannot be uninstalled. Same thing with his vBRadio mod.

Recently upgraded to vb 3.7.4 PL1... most seems to be fine, but just realized I am unable to save changes made in the Main Quiz Settings. I'll check a user group for viewing, etc...hit submit, says "Quiz Settings Updated Successfully", but no luck.

Is there a way to make a quiz private? Say...I want someone to take a malware quiz, but I don't want it to be available to a whole usergroup. Just a specific user/member.

Also...it would seem to me the idea of PMing someone after they have taken the quiz is bad idea...since they will have a copy of the questions they can just forward to their buddies.

They should receive a PM...with just their score...no questions. I know I can disable the answers...but I'd like to be able to modify the PM...so that they only receive their score.

For those of you interested in uninstalling this mod...

Go to http://YOURSITE.com/forums/admincp/install_quiz.php and use the drop-down menu to select uninstall.

Next...remove any files from the server you uploaded...and also delete any plugins you may have added for this mod.

I was getting this error as well with a large (35 question) quiz I created and what fixed it for me was the changing the default setting under (VBulletin Options) for the maximum number of characters allowed in PMs.

Try changing it to no limit (0) and see if it works for you.

I can find and change the image references in the quiz.php file easy enough, but when i upload the file back from Expression web, I get a compression error that disables my quiz system.

When I replace the quiz.php with an original file, it is repaired.

I am trying to get the images to load on the User end... Any ideas?

Should I be editing the PHP files with a different mechanism?

if u update, plz try to include following
-import-export quiz working
-set permissions for making as well as giving quiz in main settings and we don't have to select uses groups each time after creating quiz if we select default option
-easy to add quiz and questions,answers(in this version, it's cumbersome to add each question then answer separately)
-in this version, if we create quiz with multiple answers in a question, if one answer is right one is wrong, they count it 0 mark, so marking system need to be improved
-it shd be possible to add some question with single answer and some with multiple
-if possible add feature/separate mod to show random question on each page below navbar with spoiler button to show answer.

Inferno Tech no longer exist and Zero Tolerance has not been around for ages, that coupled with this mod not being marked as "re-usable" code makes it unavailable for upgrading to 4.x

You can wait for the update... use some flash or other scripts and some savvy to integrate them OR you could simply use the Easy forms mod and set it up so it works like a quiz system ;).

Could someone point in the right direction in quiz.php to fix this issue;

If a select a custom user group and add this only to a quiz it wont let you take it. I have added the user group to the main settings ect but I think it is because it is not checking for custom user groups as well as main?

Never mind I fixed it the coder forgot to query the table that holds the additional usergroups
which is "membergroupids"

Update I'm using 3.8.2 So somewhere between this mod release and I think 3.6.0 VB added the additional members table and although this mod sees them and allows you to select the additional members groups per quiz it does not query them for permissions because that table was all one at the time. I have fixed this for people who have any VB version which uses additional user groups well up to 3.8.2 maybe higher but can not test any higher here. I have added a new Var for the membergroupids table and changed the if permission statement.

Why do you want this? Well you can have a subscription only quiz with a prize, the quiz is set to only allow a certain additional member group which is auto added to any member through the subscription options voila :) Now the permissions work lol! And it makes it far more flexible for special events without having to change the users main group.

The new var added is
$Your_MID = $vbulletin->userinfo[''membergroupids'];

And replacing the if statement of
if (!in_array($Your_ID,$Perms['Participate']))

with

if (!(in_array($Your_ID,$Perms['Participate']) || in_array($Your_MID,$Perms['Participate'])))

Both to be done in 3 occurenceses.

Or replace your quiz.php with the one I have already modded.

NB: Rename your old one to quizold.php then upload mine as is if it does not work for you, you can just delete mine and rename your quizold.php back to quiz.php I know standard practice everyone should know but just in case :)
