However, the system has a pretty big back-end, it's possible i over-looked a bit or 2, so if you encounter errors/php errors please feel free to let me know in this thread and i'll try to get them fixed asap :)

v2.2 Updates: (Upgrade instructions inside ZIP)
- Several areas of code otptimized (query reduction)
- Uncached templates now cached
- Ability in main options to choose default usergroups to participate/view results to be auto filled in when adding quizzes.

Enjoy,

Also when I submit a quiz as administrator, it says "Thank you for submitting a quiz, it will become available after an administrator has moderated it and allowed it. "

Did you upload includes/xml/cpnav_quiz.xml ? It's the new way of adding custom nav to the vB ACP, however it appears at the very bottom of the nav.

"vB3.5 Modifications"

I wasn't sure since I see several people in here still showing that they are using 3.0.7. Anyway, I already know it's a dump question.

the QUIZ IMAGE doesn't show up in the forums (I get an "X" where the image should be).

The file exists in the server images/quiz folder, the url is correct AND it shows up in the quiz ACP, just not in the actual live forums.

:ermm:

Any ideas or suggestions what might be wrong?

also on a friends computer...when he finishes the quiz he gets a

though he is the only one that seems to get it. :ermm:

cool. much appreciated.

I did notice one thing though:

the link to the image in the quiz AdminCP is correct.

http:/ /www.SITENAME.com/forums/images/quiz/simpsons.gif

but the url link in the actual live quiz is missing the folder "forums" (for me).

http:/ /www.SITENAME.com/images/quiz/simpsons.gif

whereever the code that generates the image path is where the problem seems to arise.
:ermm:

don't know what up with the other error yet though. :(

UltraVR
05 Aug 2005, 19:50
I had the same problem too, sorta. My images worked in the admin cp, but not in quiz.php

I just opened quiz.php, searched for every instance of:

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

And replaced it with:

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

It seemed to do the trick.

(I also checked my vBulletin Options to make sure the path was set correctly, and it was, so I don't know why it didn't work.)

Anyhow, that code modification fixed it.

You obviously used an FTP to upload the files .. right click on the folders / files listed by the install which need chmod 777 and select properties, you should see a numeric value .. you need to change that value to 777

Hi,

This is a great hack! I am running into an issue though. After selecting all the questions, I click submit and it hangs until it times out. I am receiving the private message, the results are hitting the database. I did review the thread here and the 3.0.7 version and the only answer I came up with was to optimize my database. I did do that but the quiz.php?do=Take&id=2 page freezes at that point.

Funny, I just downloaded and installed this on 3.5 RC2, then got the following error after taking my own quiz as an admin;

Warning: in_array(): Wrong datatype for second argument in /quiz.php on line 352

and the following message;

An error has occured, the following message has been left below:

Your usergroup does not have access to participate in this particular quiz.

I checked and administrators ARE set to have the permissions.

Update: Figured it out. I needed to set the permissions in the admin cp. But.. it's still weird getting the PHP error.

Suggestion: It would be nice to be able to set the userid of the PM sender for the results.

Still, very nice feature!

Update 2: Something seems to be bugged in the Multiple Selection Checkbox: I set two answers, got one of them correct and it gave me 0% for that question.

What is meant by CHMOD? and 0777 ? can someone please help there... I did not really understand what was being said..

Thanks
You obviously used an FTP to upload the files .. right click on the folders / files listed by the install which need chmod 777 and select properties, you should see a numeric value .. you need to change that value to 777

I think this feature is for UNIX ,but the server I'm working with is windows .Now will that be of a problem as the steps is irrelevant ...???

06 Oct 2005, 20:35
For Windows, you need to check the Security tab on the folder where the images are being uploaded. Make sure that the Web server process can write to the directory that the images are being uploaded.

FYI: Chmod is a way of setting permissions on Unix systems. chmod 0777 (the 0 can be excluded to make it easier for you to understand), means that everyone and their brother has access to the folder and/or file. Permissions can be set by permission masks, where 7 is full access and 0 is no access. Each number is a position of the permission mask. First number is for the USER, second number is for the GROUP, and the last number is OTHER or EVERYONE. (Anyone who's not in your group and not the user who owns the file/directory). So, chmod 777 means the file can be read/written/deleted/executed by anyone on the system.

It's a little confusing at first, but once you start using it more, you understand it. I can explain it a little more in depth, but it's beyond the scope of this forum.

When I set user permission ins the main admin control of quiz it doesn't see it in the quiz, because each time I submit a quiz it requires me to set the persmissions (allow, deny) in each quiz. Plus the pictures doesn't show up beside the quiz (chmod 777) :nervous:

Hi,
I like this hack :) But to use I need images for each question.
I found a solution to use bbcodes in the questions. OK, but they don´t work like the bbcodes in a normal post. IMG only display a link to the imgage, not the image itself.

I created a own bbcode with a BR to brake the line between question and image and it also don´t work :(

What must I do to let own bbcode running in this hack?

Thanks

I simply added two columns to the quiz table. One for userid, the other for username. At the time of quiz creation, I insert the author's userid and username in the table. No added queries.

At display time, I pull both userid and username and set up the link. Again, no added query because it's in the quiz table and is pulled when the quiz title, etc. are pulled.

I don't allow username changes on my site, and because I'm not releasing my quiz mods, I can write to suit my own needs ;). You could always just add only the userid, but that would mean adding a left join on the query to pull the quizzes so that you could get the username too.

OK we are on 14 pages so my appology if this has been said.

When you add a picture to the quiz it uploads it to

www.yoursite.com/forum/images/quiz

The picture shows fine in the admincp BUT when you look at the journal page for the quiz the image does not show as it is trying to point to

www.yoursite.com/images/quiz

How can this be fixed?

Thanks

Snowy

Excellent mod !!! Works fine with last version 3.5.1 :D
I have a suggestion. Is it possible (easy) to add a field ?
Actually, you have to fill the question name, the selectable answers and the answers, and me, I'd want to add a field called "cause", that explain the answer. This field would be screened with the answer.
If you don't understand, I can do a picture.

just play with this alittle bit, and make a product out of the install file.

with this product (XML), you dont have to run install file anymore

I just test on a new board, didnt fully test on previous install. if anyone wanna take a risk and use the advantage of the product, give it a try.

To get the images to show, I edited lines 128, 290 & 770 in the quiz.php

Removed the {$vboptions[bburl]} and put your URL in its place on those 3 lines

I dont know why it dont work but that is a quick fix

I tested it, it works perfectly with the product.xml file... Thank you! I will use it when I have some time to translate texts ;)

Hello,

I installed it on a vb 3.5.1 and it works perfectly tanks !!

However I have a little suggestion... in the general Quiz Leaderboard is it possible to have an average per member in spite of every score at every quiz displayed ?

That would be really great to see what member is the best with a simple % no ?

Next, CHMOD the following files/folders to '0777':
includes/
includes/settings.quiz.php
images/
images/quiz/

is it really wise to allow 777 to all those folders? there's a lot of stuff in there.

do i understand this correctly?

777 to the entire includes/ folder? etc etc?

or just 777 to includes/settings.quiz.php & images/quiz/?

ok heres an issue i could use help with. say you have a multiple answer question. lets use 3 as the example. the user selects 2 out of 3 correct. his score should be 66% but since he selected a wrong answer with the 2 correct answers, the system is giving the user a 33% score for the question.
Is there an easy way to fix it other then having no multiple answer questions?

I think the templates need to be updated, they are very hard to view with a billion tables in tables and such without a clear hierarchy of elements.

Yes. Change the name of the conflicting functions in one of the mods AND change the calls to them to use the new names.

How can this be done, i'm a newbie so i'll need step by step guide. If thats not too much to ask for :) thanks in advance.

I'm not sure this has been suggested before, but it'd be wonderful if Inferno Quiz has a feature like personality test, mean you take a serial of questions, and the scores are based on your answers, then calculated into a pre-defined result, and tell who you are.

Hope it could be done in the future version, thanks.

For those who use this great hack and have trouble with the images. It looks like ZT has forgotten to fix a holdover from an earlier version in the quiz.php.

Just look for

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.
---------------

in the quiz.php and Replace with

Code:
---------------
Code is only visible to licensed users, and only when logged into the forums.

Anyone write anymore quiz packs?

:squareeyed: Dave

I'm not exactly sure, from the instructions, how to upgrade the Inferno Quiz that I had running (successfully) on vb 3.07, to this current version.

I have upgraded by vb 3.07 to vb 3.52 without problems.

Now, to upgrade the quiz....

I tried the 2.1 to 2.2 instructions. No good.

I tried the "full install", and got this:
Database error in vBulletin 3.5.2:

Invalid SQL:
CREATE TABLE `quiz` (
`qid` INT( 15 ) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT ,
`q_name` VARCHAR( 255 ) NOT NULL default '0',
`q_state` TINYINT( 2 ) NOT NULL default '0',
`q_perms` text not null,
`q_start` int(15) not null default '0',
`q_end` int(15) not null default '0',
`q_autoend` tinyint(2) not null default '0',
`q_timelimit` int(8) not null default '0',
`q_viewanswer` tinyint(2) not null default '0',
PRIMARY KEY ( `qid` )
) TYPE = MYISAM;;

MySQL Error : Table 'quiz' already exists
Error Number : 1050
Date : Sunday, December 18th 2005 @ 02:43:55 PM
Script : http://x.russbo.com/vbtest/admincp/install_quiz.php

I guess I'm just not sure how to upgrade the quiz, now that I've upgraded my vb that has an older version of the quiz on it.

The link to the quiz page now gives me this:
Database error in vBulletin 3.5.2:

Invalid SQL:
select * from quiz where q_state=1 order by qid desc limit 0,1;

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'q_state' in 'where clause'

amykhar can you please, please please post the query? (the one that writes the quiz creator's username in the database)
I'm quite afraid to write to the database :o

I think that error occurs with a large quiz - you have to change the default setting for the maximum number of characters allowed in PMs (under vBulletin options) - change it to 0 - no limit

HI gang

I haven't had much luck upgradiing from the vb3.0x version of this wonderful hack, so, I was thinking about just wiping the quiz databases from my upgraded 3.52 board, and reinstalling the hack fresh.

Can anyone suggest the queries necessary so that I can install this hack fresh?

Thanks!
