Hello,

I May in paratage my welcome panel which I translated into US since I do not speak this language.


This hack allow you to add a welcome panel on home page of your forum.
It displays the avatar, quick statistics of the forum and informations on your privates messages.

This hack can be not distributed on other sites only vbulletin-fr.org and vbulletin.org.

This is a very nice hack. I'll install it on my forums soon as vB3.5 gets a stable release. For now, I'll just have to use it on my testboard.

Well, when i activated hte plugin, the forum home does not load at all. When i disable it, it loads perfect!

Check your templates again and phrases and redo the plugin.

Hmm make this hack everything with the DB ? If I start the Plugin can not enter the Forumhome Page also the Admin-CP dount working. But if I restart the MYSWQ Server the I can enter the AdminCP and disable the Plugin.

Why does it not work for me ?

hmmm....

The same happened with me yesterday when I tried to install this ... so much so, that my host suspended my account!! I had to make phonecalls to sort it out. I think I won't risk this again, and give it a miss ... :ermm:

This query selects ALL posts ... every time you visit Forumhome.
Doesn't surprise me that this causes HEAVY load.
This query must be optimized to process only thos posts that are newer then today midnight or last visit (whatever is older).

After this hack CRASHED my server and my host yelled at me for an hour today, I've decided to fix this damned thing from scratch. I'm letting the author know here that I'm using his concept, but will be redoing it from step 1, it is not a copyright infringement issue since I will be rewriting this without anything to go on other than the images supplied. I'm asking the author of this to PM me if there is a problem with me doing this, but since it's loading 90% of the servers that it's installed on (if not crashing them completely), I'm starting on this tonight.

If there is a problem with this, let me know and I will halt production, if not then the author will get credit on my posting as the concept inspiration.

I'm in final testing of this redo, and it's taken up alot less resources, all in all it only adds one major query, and four COUNT(*) queries to the system (I'm not sure what the overhead on that is, I'm trying to compress those four into one, but haven't succeeded thus far).

Anyway, I'll give the author of this thread until 12 PM, EST, 4 July 2005 to PM me with a cease and decist order, if I haven't gotten one by then I will release my version with credit for the idea to this thread's author.

Wait for an update before you install, and save your server and hosting account !! I narrowly escaped permanent suspension because of this hack.

Since this modification was killing servers, and almost got me booted off of my LIFETIME account (REALLY pissed off about that), I redid this mod from scratch using Megatekno's conceptual idea as basis. I have not received a "Cease and Decist" order from the author since posting my intentions last night, so I have released my version here: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=91624

If my posting this here is not acceptable feel free to remove it, but I do think that since the hack was killing servers people need to know that it will prolly kill theirs too if they install this one.

I've installed this hack and really checked it over (read it over 6 times) to make sure I dind't do anything wrong, it doesn't show up for me and I'm all grrr about it.

Question if I put my back up back and then turn the hack back will it work if I install Cloudrunner's version?

I am sorry I am so new to VB, I uploaded the images as directed, then uploaded the xml file via the ACP, as it was loading my browser froze. I shut down the browser after a few minutes, and tried to load our site, nothing.

It drew so much resources that it eventually killed our HTTP. I disabled Hooks with the config file, when the server rebooted the site was fine, but all hooks were disabled. I tried to find the plug-in to remove it, but it is not in my list!

So I tried to put the original config file back, and it crashed the server again after overloading it. I mean no disrespect to the coder, it looks great for the people it works for but how do I remove it?? It is not in my plug-in list.

Please somebody, I am not asking for step by step instructions. A link would even suffice. Please, we are running our forum with all hooks disabled for 8 days now. We're just waiting on a reply as to how we remove this completely from our system.

I got a technical database error when i uploaded this. I deleted the XML file but now my board is still down. I uploaded the XML file first and did it exactly as I was directed to. Any ideas?

Okay, forget it -- I reverted the functions_user.php file and that worked.

I agree that it should be removed! It's totally locked down my forum right now and my hosting is trying to fix it. I wish I had read through this thread first. Megatekno I don't think you should be hung but you're giving my hosting a run for its money right now and overloading the SQL servers, LOL.
