Hey! Look at this, its a wonderful welcome panel, which, to be honest, is wonderful.:D
(Thanks to Tony for telling me to release more Template Mods)
Author:ffdcsite
Descrition:This Modification will add a nice look to your forum home page. It is set out neatly, easy to understand. And generally wondeful.
Features: This Mod comes with some cool features such as Private Message info, Forum info and the members general info (Username, title, posts, last visit)
Notes: This mod can display your avatar. But ONLY avatars that the members have uploaded themselves. Any avatars chosen from root/images/avatars will simply not show up. Another note is that YOU will have to modify the table colors. Im sorry for that little let down. Im very tired
BugsSo far, I have encountered no bugs at all:)
Preview:Next post down

Nice work, although I don't think the PM's should be in there.

This hack looks really nice if you sit down and work with it. I felt that having the user av info and all that good stuff was alittle much and made it look huge however large the info and av was so I changed some stuff moved it around and also removed it. Call it a tweak if you will. Here's what I did. Great hack again and sorry if you dont want me to release a tweak so soon or whatever.
Screenie in next post.
Note: All I did was edit ffdcsite hack and instructions. I do not claim to have made it

That's under there because I'm not sure if I want to keep this welcome home panel. To get rid of the pm just go to forumhome and delete $pminfo.
Well thats simple. Misses alot of User Info stuff though. But that doesn't matter.

I made a few more changes today: screenshot of welcome panel (http://www.hr3rdgen.org/images/welcome_panel_ss.gif)
However I tried using your <img src="{FORUMURLHERE}avatar.php?userid=$bbuserinfo[userid]&dateline=$bbuserinfo[dateline]">
And my avatar won't show up, poop! however it works with $avatarimage, now go figure :(
Hurm......
assassingod
31 Aug 2002, 20:32
Well first off, you need to change {FORUMURLHERE} to your forum URL :p  Lol:P
And that code I gave only shows avatars that are self uploaded

Glad you got an idea from one of my mods:)
Hye Penny where do you install urs at? Do you have any instructions?
assassingod
03 Sep 2002, 23:04
Blah:p Methinks he posted some instructions, check the first or second page
Nope...there is some text but not where and how to insert it....blah
assassingod
03 Sep 2002, 23:11
What I suggest, is take that code penny has given, and add it to my instructions, replaced my welcome panel. Try that:)

04 Sep 2002, 00:46
hey i was kinda thinking, is there a way to make it so if they arent registered, it says To enable private messaging, Register and it takes the "log out" off? ill try to do that... if i get it to work ill post it :D
It takes out Logg Off because your not logged in if your not registered. No point of having it there then.
assassingod
04 Sep 2002, 07:47
Why dont you just move the $logincode out of the Welcome panel?
girard747
04 Sep 2002, 16:11
This is what it looks like, i took out the forum name ;)
girard747
04 Sep 2002, 16:16
and i changed it a bit in frontpage, just to show what i want it to look like, i never actually put THIS one on my forum......
assassingod
04 Sep 2002, 16:25
Looks good:) Got the code for it though?
girard747
04 Sep 2002, 16:35
what do you mean? i WANT it to do that lol i cant find how to make it so if you're not logged in, it just shows the Please Register one lol :(
assassingod
04 Sep 2002, 16:38
Oh yeah, sorry
I misread your post. Im not sure if it can be done by HTML, methinks PHP would need to be involved, which needs to be asked at vb.org
But then again, I could be wrong. I cant think today:rolleyes:
girard747
04 Sep 2002, 16:59

14 Sep 2002, 22:03
Yep! Thats great work there!
Ok there's too many pages to this thread to read through, so i'll just reply here even if it's been said already:
ffdcsite: you should use replacement variables in your template modifications, instead of using hard coded colours. Using replacement variables means it's automatically incorporated into other peoples' styles/colours :)
assassingod
14 Sep 2002, 23:25
Yeah, I know.:oIts just that I usually release a mod after I have put it on my own forum and I rarely ever use replacement variables:p Sorry >.<
For the sake of your own forums you should use variables, what if you add a new style set and you want to copy the template over :-O
assassingod
15 Sep 2002, 12:50
Very true:) Advice taken:p

16 Sep 2002, 15:59
the original welcome template to this thread is great, is there a way for it to use non-uploaded avatars??? so that it will display avartar that are obtained from the forum it self??
assassingod
16 Sep 2002, 19:06
Thanks:)
Sadly, I have found no-way of using all kind of avatars. Only self-uploaded.
The only way would be through PHP editing
The Welcome Panel was nice when logged in, but it wasn't complete while logged out. I dont know if anyone else had this problem so I simply fixed it and changed the WP and unregmessage around a bit. This was made more for a newbie, like myself. I need tutorials or i'll just throw the monitor out from the window. ;)

Thats pretty good. Probably add it to my instructions and give you & pennylessz28 lots of credit:)
Nice.. although Iv'e hacked my welcome panel up way more than that. Thanks though. I could work with this.

20 Oct 2002, 03:04
thanks for the mod. wish the colours would auto-adjust so i wouldn't have to redo them for every style i upload. :P
thanks though. looks great.
It's possible, just use {firstaltcolor} and {secondaltcolor} to call the colors of the style that is in place.
assassingod
06 Dec 2002, 19:41
I would like to announce that a new version of the WPE will be released shortly. It will have more features than the current one, as well as {firstaltcolor} & {secondaltcolor} varibles in this time.
E.T.A mid december
A good idea, silly design. I'll post my design soon, so you can compare it.

My estimate of the WPE2 was a little off;) Stopped for a bit

Well, I had to do loads of modifications on that welcome panel. But it was fun though. I enjoyed it. And I'm still not done messing with it. But well.
